So here I am slaving away my weekend at the station and I'm looking at the Associated Press file for tonight's news, and look what I come across...
AP-MI--Bruce Campbell-Actor
B-movie actor Bruce Campbell plays Elvis in new film
(Undated-AP) -- Here's the premise: a geriatric Elvis Presley doing battle with an Egyptian mummy at a Texas nursing home.
It might seem like a stretch for most actors to portray but Bruce Campbell isn't most actors.
The 45-year-old self-proclaimed B-movie star gives a dead-on performance as the King in the indie flick "Bubba Ho-Tep."
Campbell initially made his name starring in the "Evil Dead" movies masterminded by his Michigan childhood friend Sam Raimi.
Raimi is known for directing the blockbuster "Spider-Man."
Campbell and Raimi grew up in Oakland County outside of Detroit.
They met in a drama class at Groves High School in Beverly Hills in 1975.
"Bubba Ho-Tep" is in limited release nationwide.
Michigan loves the Campbell. Now, if they can only play the goddarn film in theaters here.
