Finally heard the record, pretty much in its entirety, last night. It's a wonderfully odd bird.
A full quarter of it is instrumental. Two more songs are missing half the band. It can veer from silliness to dead serious spookiness and back. Aside from the fairly poppy leadoff track, it's kinda shambolic and funky. It reminds me of the last Desert Sessions record from Josh Homme and friends, but with Giorgio Moroder as part of the gang this time around.
Maybe not the best jumping on point for new readers, but it's a hell of a fun listen, and a record that works as a 12-song suite. You guys will have to wait a little bit longer, but I'm anxious to hear what you think when it is unleashed in a week or so.
