There's a potentially interesting movie buried in here somewhere but it looks like Ridley couldn't see it and went for a straight message movie. Demi tries hard, looking all steely and determined but she's kind of a blank presence, Viggo delivers as the hard ass drill sergeeant who almost turns into a cartoon villain by the end. I found it kind of odd that right after he had his confrontation with O'Neill (the infamous suck my dick scene) he has a change of heart "The problem isn't her, the problem is us", I didn't buy that sudden epiphany.

There are some potentially interesting ideas in the film about how females are integrated into a testesterone driven environment, how O'Neill doesn't want preferential treatment but get's it regardless. The film tries to desexualize Demi halfway through by having her shave her head but ends up perpetuating it with the constant shots of Demi sweatily doing pushups, the camera placed suggestively behind her.

I thought it was ok but it dragged for the most part, I didn't realize David Twohy co-wrote the film. neat.
