I searched and wasn't able to find a post release thread anywhere, just an ancient pre-release thread.
I don't know if you guys know this or not, but you need to see this movie. Plain and simple. If you see a more entertaining movie this summer, then whatever it is you saw is a classic, and it's a good time to be a cinephile.
The energetic filmmaking on display, the cinematogrpahy, the score, the acting, the richness of the sets and costumes (fuck, the production values all around) were fantastic through and through. It's not flawless, I thought there was some really unnecessary back story stuff shoehorned in, particularly at the end. And some of the action was hard to make out amidst the kinetic editing/camera work, though those moments are relatively few. Most of the time I was really, really impressed with both. But my complaints are minor in the face of what is otherwise an extremely satisfying feast for the senses.
I am someone who did not like Western Sukiyaki Django. The two films are not similar in the least. You will leave the theater with a smile on your face, a hop in your step, and a reaffirmation of just how much fun going to movies can be. Do yourself a favor, and go see it.
