this. it was so obvious that it was important to the network to get the origin story stuff out of the way and get him into the suit quickly, but by doing so robbed the character of any weight or believeable motivation. i'm sure we'll see flashbacks and what not but can we all agree LOST ruined that format for everyone? (by doing it so well)

it's clear there are talented people working on this show that have the best intentions, but the networks think their audience is so dumb that good ideas come off as half baked. how do you make a gang of eccentric bank robbing circus performers so boring? that bank robbery scene could've been so much fun but it was over before it began. if the show learned to slow down a bit and stop plagiarizing batman begins (that docks scene was pretty shameless) it could find it's footing, but then it would just appeal to nerds and be one of those "nerd" shows. it's more like Big Bang Theory, a show about nerds for jocks.

This is probably what bugged me the most. The first episode could have clearly featured him as The Cape with some clever editing. The whole thing felt fairly lazy.

I found a lot of it to be ridiculous. But in an entertaining way!

God that was bad.....

"Either you wear the cape, or the cape wears you"

Pretty funny episode this week. And next week  Rollo robs a train and Chess dresses like a cowboy!

Did they ever reveal before that the cape might be evil magic that corrupts the user?  'Cause that seemed to come out of nowhere.  It was awfully quick that the last user confronts the new one after only three episodes.

Still, Keith David buys it a lot of leeway.  That shiteating expression.  Hilarious.

Edit: So animated gifs don't work?  Damn.

That was so gloriously bad.  I can't look away.

WTF? The cape is magic now? What the hell is going on in this show?

I just can't do it anymore. This show is shit. I'm out.

If I'm going to be honest with myself, I can put up with everything but the damn kid.

LOL I didn't watch it but they went Spawn territory too soon.

Summer should pick better projects.

So wait there is actually magic in the show now? I only made it through the first hour of the first show. Man im getting really excited now. Because if this show makes it, and I REALLY hope it does it could end up like Heroes for me. Where it's so horrible that I don't watch it but there is enough people in the thread who do. Then I pop in once a week to read the events and get continually floored by the shit I read. It's really amazing and I recommed it to everyone.

The kid is a fucking horror from outside time and space. And the protagonist is agonizingly less charismatic than anyone involved in this show. Including the key grip, I bet.

I'm going to say it:  With this most recent episode, I kind of love this show.  It's basically the '90s The Flash series, but unfortunately lacking in any strong sense of humour.  It's just going completely balls-out with the comic book villainy in a way that no other super hero show has done.  The lead needs to learn to crack a smile, and the moments where he talks to his kid are terrible, but if they can keep throwing in some ridiculous villain week after week, I'll probably stay on board through the end of the season.

And I'm out. This went from "So bad it's good" territory to "Holy shit this is so boring!" This is offensively boring. And very poorly plotted.

Me, I thought this week was an improvement. The bits of psychological conflict-- winding up Scales, and having to cooperate with Chess to save the day-- were actually interesting. If the show can continue along these lines, exploring the idea that superheroes and supervillains need each other, we may yet have a show. Glau was wasted again though.

At any rate, nothing was going to make me tune out before Mena Suvari's appearance next week.

Yeah, winding up Scales was a great plan. I wonder how well I'll do if I can get the head of a mob family to accuse Bill Gates of actually being the leader of Al Qaeda. I loved his surprise at his plan not working. "They didn't believe him!" No shit Sherlock.

lol I love reading about this show.

FUCK. THIS. SHOW.

I'm already looking forward to the big screen remake in 20 years time.

20 years? With the gap between original and remake this close now I imagine it will be more like 5.

ok, I'M OUT.

Last nights episode was so aweful, i cant take it anymore.  The moment he grabbed the picture of the girl right from the top of his desk killed it for me.  Also the fact that every episode he is saving Chess's life.

DONE!

Looks like they are cutting down the no of episodes from 13 to 10 due to falling ratings.

The show kind of rides on Keith David and James Frain both clearly having a hell of a lot of fun.  It's so earnest in its ridiculousness, I'm disappointed that more people aren't getting it.

I think people do get it, they just don't want it.  There's way too little Keith David to let this show slide on it.

And Frain rides the line between having fun and being annoying.

This show needs better side-villains that can actually help carry the story.

Also, the show has no goddamn excuse not to be sexier.

The Cape's obssession with his son, to the point where it seems like he's ignoring his wife, is getting kinda creepy.

Not surprised this is well on its way to cancellation.  I gave it 4 episodes and it is dull in every way imaginable.  The villains are boring, the lead is boring, the sets are boring, the supporting cast is boring, and the plots are boring.  Did I mention it was boring?  Because it is.  Boring, that is.

The premise has potential, but it is as if all involved are almost embarrassed by it.  If it loosened up and got a little campier, then I think you might have an enjoyable show, or at least a guilty pleasure.

It had a racoon robbing a bank.  I think it's got plenty of camp.  Can we just get a "Carnival of Crime" spinoff instead?

The one thing I actually like about it is the chapter title cards for each part, almost like issues of a comic book.  Of course, if that's the thing I like the most about the show, then the show is in trouble.

Fair enough.  I just wish the Cape himself had more life or humor.  The show has this dour tone that makes any attempts at levity feel forced, like someone farting at a funeral.  I dunno.

No, I agree.  The elements of a campy good time is there, but then they cut away to creepy Vince Faraday and his crappy mask and magician's cape.

I have the last few episodes DVR'd and while I want to watch them (so I have something to write about in my blog)...the responses here generally make me afraid. Has it really dived off the deep end into Holy Jesus Christ Shit territory?

That's where it STARTED. Last week's ep was a marginal (and I mean almost unnoticeable) improvement.

I guess we can consider this dead and buried. Though from what I am hearing I am not missing much.

ITS DONE AND OVER FOR GOOD I GUESS.
