There's a Jack Burton comic? The hell?

No, really...

Follow Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China on his new adventures with Wang, Egg Chen, and the rest of the gang.
This is the sequel to one of the greatest cult classics of all time. Ever wonder what happened to Jack and the monster in the back of his truck? What became of Mia Yin and Wang? Did Egg convince his lawyer to believe in black magic?
All of these questions and many more are all answered beginning with issue #1 of The Jack Burton Adventures.

Im speechless, and Im not sure if ina good way.

Did you ever see the Snake Plissken comic? It's not in a good way.

Yeah, that Snake Plissken comic was AWFUL. Only four issues or something like that, and it was four too many.

Was that the one where Snake steals the Limo that JFK got shot in? Or was it Elvis's Limo? It was big car, I remember that!

The comic looks fan made. CRANK LEFT? You'd think IDW or DYNAMITE would kill for a license like this.

Yeah, what DID happen to Miao Yin and Wang? The movie ended and it was, like, where'd they go? Someone give me five bucks so I can find out!

Check out the inner artwork at the link. It looks like it was drawn by an 11 year old with Parkinson's.

How in the world did this company get the license?

And I don't know what's worse. The comic or the god awful merchandise -

Yeah, cuz a piss poor drawing is gonna be as charming as Kurt Russell.

Weird to think that these licenses are out there and apparently affordable to art school kids. (edit: JudgeSmails had the same thought)

In Australia a dude did a comic of the actual script for the sequel to Repo Man by getting permission from Alex Cox, but they had to change all the names because the movie studio still owned the rights to the characters or something so it became "Waldo's Hawaiian Holiday" with Waldo replacing Otto.

I thought it was a great idea anyway, but wasn't a big fan of the art style when I finally got to leaf through it. If you want 20 - 30 bucks of my money, the art better be pretty fricken awesome.

Jack looks like a backwoods hick on the cover. And what the hell is wrong with his left hand?

Oh Christ, that just looks fucking awful...

Yeah, my initial thought was "God, Burton looks like my stepdad."

Cox gave that script away via Creative Commons. Poke around Youtube and you will see other filmed versions. You can go shoot a sequel to Repo Man tomorrow. It will almost certainly be better than Cox's version coming down the pike.

It really does look fan made. I can't help but wonder at the legality of all this. I wonder if they'll get sued for either not having the legal rights to this IP, or for delivering a sub standard product.

Awesome. I love Repo Man, so I do want to read it...just not with the fugly artwork.

I'll check youtube too in case someone managed to catch a bit of the original's weird magic (unlikely given the likes of Harry Dean Stanton's presence).

Cheers

They couldn't get anyone half decent for the cover art? It's gotta be unauthorized fan-fic/art... right?
