Is the actor cast in Captain America?

If this is true... why? Why not just have John Slattery again? JS is a pretty youthful looking guy for how old he is; easily de-aged with simple make-up, I'd imagine. Plus I think people would enjoy the continuity.

That was my thought exactly.

Isn't Tony's dad a little too young to be involved in WW2? If he's around 40-45 in '74, as seen in IM2, wouldn't he be 10-15 at the end of WW2? The Stark in Captain America should be Howard's father. It would make a lot more sense.

Eh. Cooper doesn't really seem the type, but I'm sure he'll be fine. Interestingly, he also read for the Fandral character in Thor. I guess when Marvel wants to work with you, they really want to work with you.

That actor would have to get raped by the Gelfling goddess of beauty to produce offspring anywhere near as handsome a Robert Downey Jr.

John Slattery is 48 and he plays a guy in his mid-to-late 50s on Mad Men (and presumably that's the age he was playing Howard Stark in Iron Man 2), so early twenties makes sense for the circa WWII Stark. 20 year old whiz kid Howard Stark working on the Manhattan and Super Soldier Projects works for me (though it is too bad that Slattery can't play that young. He could easily do early thirties, though.)

Since they established that Stark is a member of SHIELD, couldn't they just show him taking whatever keeps Fury ageless, which explains why he still looks like he's in his 40s in the 1970s? He didn't die of old age, they killed him in a car crash.

Cuchulain, Dum Dum Dugan and the rest of...The Howling Commandos took the same serum, Fury took, and they all moved on to form...S.H.I.E.L.D! I would have just brought...John Slattery as Stark, and said he was younger, just like the almost...40 year old high schoolers from the 90's era...Beverly Hills 90210!
