Eyes

Some of the creepiest scenes in my fave horror movies involve the human/inhuman eye.

Black Xmas- best use of an eye ever. Chills me to the fucking bone.

The Night Stalker- Janos Skorzeny in the car (2nd best use ever)

The Stepford Wives- the clone at the end

Murder by Decree- close up on the Ripper's eyes

Halloween- when Jamie Lee pulls Michael's mask off and he looks all fucked up, like a mixture of confusion and killing ecstasy

Amityville 1- the eyes outside the bedroom window (ultra cheesy special effect, but it still works)

Wrong Turn- when Des Harrington checks to see that they haven't woken up the inbreds

Horror Express

Mr Barlow and the other Salem's Lot vamps

Victim's eyes widening in horror in different horror movies, e.g. Vera Clouzot's reaction shots in Les Diaboliques, Roddy McDowall in the Fright Night mirror scene

Others?

AUDITION!!!

... kiri ... kiri ... kiri ... kiri ...

*shudder*

The eyeball-slicing in Luis Bunel's UN CHIEN ANDALOU is also pretty disturbing.

And what about the eyeball-sucking in NEKROMANTIC?

And I totally forgot the close-ups of the terrefied girl's eyes in Tobe Hooper's original TCM. Are there similar scenes in the remake?

Sadako's eye in RINGU is also creepy as all hell. But again I don't know if any of that got transportet to the US remake, which I've still not bothered to watch.

can't believe I forgot both of those. YES to Ring (original), YES to TCM (original).

And they didn't give Sadako that freaky eye in the US remake. One of the many things that's wrong with that movie.

two argento flicks come to mind.. the opening of Suspiria, and the amazing needle scene in Opera.

May. Even though you know it's coming because of the first shot in the film, it still creeped me out bigtime

How 'bout the classic scene in Fulci's ZOMBIE ...

I also remember some weird eye stuff in ANGUISH , but it's been awhile so maybe I'm thinking of something else ...

And when the teenage mistress in PHONE gets pissed, her eyes are really scary ...

There is also Ida Lupino's THE HITCH-HICKER, in which the villian's one eye remains open, even when he's sleeping ... Very creepy from what I remember ...

YES.

My goodness, every time I see those two little xmas lights outside that window, it gives me chills and keeps me awake at night. The definition of how atmosphere can make something that's unscary on paper one of the scariest moments EVAR in cinema. For me, anyway.

I put my vote in for Dali's Un Chien Andalou -- where all the eye horror began. wink

Not Dali, Buñuel

They co-directed it.

And I'm pretty sure the really wierd shit could attributed to monstro-tache.

Fulci is the godfather of eye torture.

And of course who could forget the first Guinea Pigs film.

I'm really surprised that no one has mentioned the eye scene from Evil Dead Trap yet.

I'd find a pic of it, but I'd really rather not look at it again any time soon. Disturbing as hell.

Eyeball violence really gets me squirrley. I hate anything near my eyes. I bug out if I get soap in them in the shower. If I ever needed glasses, I would never opt for contacts, i just couldn't do it.

I had eye surgery and thank God the doctors put me out. You could've hit me with a hammer, i didn't care, i just wanted to sleep through it.

But my favorite eyeball movie has to be Headless Eyes .
How could you not like a movie where a maniac takes out his victim's eyes with a spoon.

I'm exactly the same way. I can handle and enjoy pretty much any form of amputation, mutilation and other various gruesome acts, but if something involves the eyes you will usually find me curled up in the fetal position with my eyes facing anywhere but the screen saying "tell me when it's over". If I watch it, my eyes start tearing up and I swear I can almost feel it. Sad thing is that it doesn't even have to be realistic eye violence to get me. Blech.
