They've had this terrible philosophy of buying into the market. A perfect example is Windows 7 mobile. They are spending $ 400 million on marketing alone. When you have over 38 billion in cash you can always spend your way into the game.
Zune was basically dead on arrival. The decline of IE is a huge concern, because web browsers are becoming the single most important application on a computer. The web browers is taking over more and more fuctions. It even has the capability to replace Office eventually.
And of course the rise of Apple computers is hurting OS marketshare. MS should just be thankful Apple refuses to license their OS to PCs.
