Now that was a good game show.

It would have been pretty daring to keep the show going but with an entirely new administration. I'm sure they could have found a way to keep some of the old characters around, but to just soldier on with the Vinnick staff would have been interesting.

Of course, the really daring thing would have been to do it with Bartlet re-election campaign, when the show was still a bit of a juggernaut. Can you imagine the furor over replacing the entire cast of a hit show like that? Would have loved to have seen it. You would have had to have had a stronger candidate than Gov. Ritchie. And we would have lost that awesome debate episode where Bartlet just eviscerates him.

OK, I rescind my enthusiasm for my suggestion.

I'll add Andy Richter Controls the Universe to the list. Wonderfully written surreal comedy that was a perfect vehicle for Richter's chubby charm. Also proves how it's a crime to waste Paget Brewster on a CBS procedural when she should be doing comedy. If you like Better Off Ted you might like this as it's from the same creator and even has Jonathan Slavin playing a similar character.

The episode with Conan O'Brien as Richter's insane boss is a highlight. "Well, at least she died doing what she loved… committing suicide."

I'd put Swingtown into this category. But that show should have been on cable to begin with.

Space: Above and Beyond

Vengeance Unlimited (anyone but me remember this? Starred Michael Madsen as a guy who got revenge for people who were wronged)

FireFly, definitely

Angel (and I agree with the poster who said it was a better show than Buffy, and deserved to have just as many seasons), though the 'LET'S GO TO WORK' final moment was pure epic badass.

I'm currently watching Daybreak. It's actually a very good little show and the concept is original (for a tv show). I'd have loved a second season!

As others have said: Journeyman (brilliant!), Firefly and American Gothic should have lasted longer. Much longer.

Anyone else has mentioned Wonderfalls yet?

Good, then I'll do it. Wonderfalls. I really liked Pushing Daisies, but I loved Wonderfalls.

Oh, in college my roommate and I were pretty pissed when Invader Zim got cancelled. Just stumbled upon the show out of nowhere and we were like, "wow a Nickelodeon show that doesn't suck!". Of course it wouldn't last. So much bizarre goodness in that little 'toon.

How could I have forgotten The Sarah Connor Chronicles? Also, Karen Sisco, yup. Ooo, yeah, and Wonderfalls.

I'll second the Deadwood love, especially after reading that earlier post about the season 4 plans. Sports Night and Invasion as well.

For comedies, Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Greg the Bunny had real potential.

I watched every episode of this. It wasn't especially good, but it was essentially The Equalizer starring Michael Madsen so it worked for me.

Angel is a better show than Buffy, no question. Buffy was the more groundbreaking but the spin off surpassed the original (particulary on 2nd viewing of each)

Space Above & Beyond? Really? BSG is basically SAAB done much, much better...

I mentioned Firefly, but looking back, yeah, shows that only got one season probably deserve a separate thread, since it's hard to say they were in their prime.

The one thing that intrigued me more than any other about a potential fourth season of DEADWOOD was how the Hell Milch planned to pull off the mooted transformation of Cy Tolliver from coldhearted bastard to outspoken feminist.

SAAB is probably just wish fulfillment on my part, I remember it ending on a cliffhanger and shit like that drives me crazy.

Same with The 4400, which wasn't really in its prime but I feel like I'm owed some kind of epilogue. Heck, I would have been happy with a blurb on the show's website about how they would have ended it.

Completely different shows; what Space did it did damn well. A shame it only got the one season. T.C. McQueen is one of the great TV characters.

I've seen this said a few times now and it makes no sense. Chuck has never even approached the campy 50's B-Movie feel of The Middleman.

Five-month bump. Nice thing about this thread is there's no party to be late to.

Seconding Firefly, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Karen Sisco. And now, sadly, we must add Better Off Ted to the list.

The Beat is the only cop show I ever found interesting. Four episodes, I think.

Pretty sure I'm the only person to care about Cleopatra 2525 but I stand firm in my briefs. Er, beliefs.

Caprica, which was just starting to get good, is done for.

I'll bump when Terriers gets killed.

I don't know if Better Off Ted was lamented upthread (I might well have done so myself), but Amazon has it available through their "Video On Demand," including two unaired Season Two episodes and a free "behind the scenes" segment (there is also an HD option available). Haven't tried it yet, since I want to download them, so I'm going to wait till I get home.

I fear, though, that this makes it less likely we'll eventually see the S2 DVD set.
