Okay, so there's already a technology/science type thread, but it seems to be dealing with the distant future, and I'm interested in chatting current events.

Here is an article I find very interesting. How is it possible to combine systems analysis and general practice/nursing? Not only are both very separate fields, but they're both very demanding, in different ways.

Technology seems to be this weird double standard. It's meant to make our existence easier by performing more and more tasks for us, yet the more advanced it gets, the more everyone needs to specialize to keep up the pace. I can't imagine having to learn both very complicated medical knowledge and very complicated computer knowledge. An article referenced in the first one mentions a doctor who is also a programmer, and splits her time between the two evenly. It just blows my mind.

So, what say you, tech inclined chudsters? Is this a move towards a more efficient hospital administration or a more impersonal medical community? Maybe both?
