I also dig this show, and I need to scrounge up the DVD's so I can give it a proper rewatch. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen most of season 1, caught a fair bit of season 2 and most of 3 during one of SciFi's marathons, and watched the final season and Peacekeeper Wars. The show really sucked me in and I hated the fact that as soon as I discovered it, it was cancelled.

Still, I know I'll have a great time starting from the beginning

I like how Crichton's look evolves over the course of the film. At first he kind of hangs out in his astronaut clothes and doesn't even carry a weapon. By the end he's a black-clad gunslinging badass.

The show was great and watched it and got all the DVDs. It wasn't till much later that I got the Buck Rogers similarities. Buck/Crichton, Wilma/Aryn, Hawk/Dargo..the show was fun-still get a kick out of seeing Claudia Black (one ep of NCIS as a biker chick!).

The show is fantastic. It started off a bit weak but when it was on fire which was most of the time it was incredibly ambitious. It combined several different tones sometimes all in the course of an episode with multi dimensional characters who changed and evolved.

I don't know how anyone could watch a completely insane episode like "Crackers Don't Matter" and not fall in love with the show.

I've always been shocked that Ben Bowder didn't have a bigger carrer. He's fantastic in this makes Criton immediately likable.

So I suppose I should justify my "favorite" status with this show. I'm a huge fan of Battlestar (though I think there was a dip in quality towards the end there) and I've liked Lost on and off, been a Trek fan, and chowed down on Bablyon, etc etc. And yes, shows like Battlestar have reached much higher heights than Farscape, but taking in the shows whole respective runs, I think Farscape was somehow more...consistent? There was always a spirit of invention running through the series, and while it never plumbed the depths of SPACE HOLOCAUST, it didn't have quite the disastrous slow-motion crashes you would have to view as part of the package. Or maybe it's just because Farscape just made the landing better. It's basic through-lines, its theme of reconstruction of family, wasn't hampered by its ending, but strengthened. A good ending can make up for a lot.
