Hell's Kitchen - Season WhoCares

Anyone else watching the premiere of Hell's Kitchen tonight? It's easily my guiltiest pleasure. It's on now, and that old shame is returning.
It's times like this I wish I had cable.
It's the same shit every single season, and yet I keep coming back for more! Total guilty pleasure, send me to the gallows. What was up with that whole psych-out with his wife in the beginning? Weird!
So that farmer guy that just wants to slaughter animals? That's just a schtick, right? And Salvatore, was that a real accent?
I find Ramsay way too entertaining. I could watch Kitchen Nightmares (UK) every single day. After months of getting used to "nice "Ramsay, it was nice to see "mean" chef back. Total garbage, but I love this show.

No way Salvatore's accent is real. I'm hoping he gets so flustered he completely drops it and starts talking like he's from Bergen (NJ) County.

Autumn and Ed struck me as the contestants with a clue this season. (There's rarely more than two.) The fact that they have basic competency and aren't insane puts them at the head of the pack.
I'll add to the love for this show as great garbage television (even though I don't watch it anymore).

Can you get this on Hulu?

Ah-ha! Don't deny your addiction, joeypants. Here, let me enable you.

FOX has commercial free episodes the next day.

Haven't watched it yet (on the DVR, though). Went out to dinner with my wife the weekend prior, and in this show's honor, I had a meal that included scallops and risotto.

Both were cooked to perfection, btw.

I have some Risotto to prepare at home, had it for weeks. Every time I pick it up to fix it for dinner I hear, "Your Risotto is crap, you fucking donkey!" in my head and sit it back down. Damn you, Ramsey.

Nice! It's been a few seasons, but I trust it's only gotten trashier.
They probably won't top the contestant last season who tried to get into fisticuffs with Ramsey. "I ain't no bitch!"
Love this show. Its such a guilty pleasure. I take enjoyment in watching Ramsay flip his shit a hundred times each episode.

So a guy gets a Hell's Kitchen tattoo, and he's booted in the second episode. Way to go, Mikey. If you can't make risotto on this show, you're screwed.

Fuck. This serves me right for not watching the episode before reading the thread.
I say it every year but this show really needs to go back to mixed crews. The men vs women angle is played out.

It was funny to see the chick completly lose it over the egg challenge. Then when they got faced by Ramsey for sending up the woman just because they didn't like her.

This show is so bad and so good all at the same time.
I'm calling Holli as the winner. She is so background right now it is fairly obvious they are creating an emerging leader out of her.

Or maybe the other people are just batshit insane.
Man, did they purposely find insane bitches to put on this show?

Yes.
Whenever the Italian guy talks I feel like I'm watching someone play Mario Cart or the episode of the Simpsons. "That's-a-spicey-meta-a-balla!" Jesus Christ, that's got to be fake. Where do they find these rejects?

I'm pegging the dude with the blue hair to go far. He's been pretty solid so far and doesn't seem like a complete whack-job.

Of course. The show is cast with the oddest assortment of characters, to irritate Ramsay, cause conflict with him, or internally with their team. Ramsay in the past has referred to these casting decisions as "driftwood". There is no way for a real contender to get eliminated prematurely - Gordon always has the final say. Like we'll see season after season, someone will nominate who they think their strongest competition is. Gordon doesn't settle for that, the contender gets sent back in line and Gordon calls out one of the degenerates.

The chef said Ramsay admitted what we all know, that most of the cast are idiot plants to give Ramsay someone to throw food at: “Gordon actually called that first group driftwood. He said, ‘James, once I get rid of the driftwood, I can start focusing on the final three or four.’ ”
Last season I don't think I would've chosen ANY of them except Dave, but thankfully it wasn't to set up their own restaurant, just to be at an already established one that wasn't his lol.

Still....it's a fucking poached egg! EGGS! How can you fuck up scrambled eggs as well?
The producers should regret not having kept the wacky farmer around for another couple of episodes. It was clear there was more entertainment to be had with him.
It cracked me up how Mikey kept saying, "I don't like mine [risotto] like mush." You're not cooking it for yourself, you're cooking it for Ramsey and his pallet, moron.

I've actually gotten into eating scallops the last few months...I'm waiting that terrible day when I get some that are like rubber.

Is the farmer the one that was on the helicopter saying, "Let's fly over the hood! I wanna fly over the ghetto!" They should've dropped him off there.

Last night humored me. Glad to see Jackass Magoo get kicked out. From now on, when anyone asks me a specific question, I'll brush them off and cite my fine dining experience.
The blind taste test is always my favorite part of the show. Nearly everyone failed miserably!
My wife and I were so shocked that they sucked we did our own blind taste test and she nailed 4 out of 4 (tuna, almonds, shallots and baby spinach).

Was it Fran that couldn't tell a coconut from a potato? That blew my mind.

Kind of a shit season. They're clearly burning the season off so they can get to Ramsay's new Master Chef show. Just as well, since the contestants this season pretty much suck, except for Holli, whose combination of attractiveness and base competency pleases me.
I think it will be between Jay and Holli.
Kinda boring finale.

It sucks that do to lack of interest in the show or just budget cuts they killed the idea that the Finalists had to actually make the restaraunt their own. Picking out the wait staffs uniforms and the decor of their half of the place.

Holli and Jay were pretty much identical as chefs so it didn't matter who won.

Awesome move by Jay (in the last spoken line of the season) to wonder aloud if he would finally be able to get into Holli's pants that night.
I missed it, who won? What did Jay say?
Holli won, which pleased my wife to no end. I thought Jay was probably the better overall choice, but Holli did sort of come from obscurity to the final 2.

And agreed, the closing statement of Jay saying, "Maybe now she'll take her pants off" was a great way to finish. And Ramsey spraying JP with champagne was hilarious.

Good Lord, the new season starts tonight?!?! I had no idea.
neither did I. I kinda liked this show better when it was just once a summer.
From back when they announced that MasterChef show:

Quote:
The show joins Ramsay’s other titles on Fox — “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmares” — and should keep Fox stocked with the temperamental chef’s reality fare nearly year-around.

“A huge reality format that works great in other countries plus Gordon Ramsay guarantees success,” Fox president of alternative Mike Darnell said. “Gordon is like our ‘CSI.’ ”
Holy Shit this may be the best season ever. The two white Gangsta Chicks (one with tatoo'd eyebrows), the fat Karate guy and the Southern Boy just said his sushi roll looked like "dookie".

Downside...no JP. He's been replaced by a generic British Dude.

I was slack-jawed at the Jerry Springer-ishness of this year's cast. This enjoyable crap is starting to get way too crappy.

I wonder why no JP this year?
I loved that that woman's gumbo actually caused Ramsay to vomit.

This show has become so trashy and retarded. Obviously, I'm still watching it. Oddly enough, this is the television event that brings a large group of my friends together each week. Tryin to get a survivor pool going for this season. Should be fun.

Oh and the new intro. Good lord.
Funny first episode with the elimination. OK second episode.

Sorry to see Jean Phillippe will not be around this season, the new guy sucks.

That was a punishing two hours of television. Unless the next ep features Sabrina getting hit by a bus, I don't think I can stand watching all of this season.

We say this every season, but this is easily, EASILY, the most unqualified bunch of schlubs they've ever showcased.

Without a doubt. Although Vinny (the stereotypical Italian from Brooklyn) seems to have some skills.

In fact I'll take him and the Asian Chick to be the two finalists. They seem to be the two that stay down and on this show those are usually the "ringers". The ones that aren't total nut jobs and can actually cook.

I did love the one woman shocked that Sabrina is still on the show. "What...how is she still on the show". It's because you all hate her and she makes for a good bad guy.

JP is at one of Ramsey's other properties this season. I looked that up the first night, thought he was fired or quit but apparently it's just a business decision and was announced long before they decided to run a fall season. Presumably (from other articles I read) he'll be back for next season.
I think tattooed eyebrows chick goes all the way. She doesn't seem too incompetent.

While I laughed heartily at Raj eating the sent-back food, these episodes were awful. The whining, bitching, scheming, and backstabbing has reached MTV-levels of reality ridiculousness. Just a horrible season so far.
Anyone else catch the finale tonight...or the rest of the season for that matter.

There was not a single person I liked in the show. But damn was I happy to see Nona beat Russell.

Russell was just such an over the top douche "None of you will ever work in the same city I do, I will black ball you all for screwing me."

Holy Shit...
yeah watched this season, sort of......... getting old, predictable and not as entertaining.

Glad Russell didnt win, from the editing, he got the douche treatment... but i think he really was and totally blew it with his attitude.

That's who I thought should have been in the final two.

The first time I skipped a finale (the season royally sucked) and this happens.
That guy Russell was just unbelievable. How did he think he was going to win, or deserved to win, treating people the way he does?

He thought he would win if he provided the best dinner service, and then blamed his loss on his team members. Team members he chose.

What he didn't realize was that it wasn't just about winning the service. He was going through a job application process with the hiring boss watching the whole time how he interacted with people who were working in the positions his potential staff would be in. And he treated them like shit, right in front of Gordon Ramsey. What was he thinking?
