The Walking Dead (AMC + Darabont) - Page 2

Looks like Darabont took a leaf out of 'The Wire's' book and cast two well known UK actors, Andrew Lincoln and Lenny James, always good to see them working more.

That said, this looks pretty good.
Well it looks like this will start up on AMC just after Rubicon wraps up it's first season so I'm guessing I'll just go straight from watching one to the other.

FUCK ME dudes. Fuck.

Amazing unofficial credits made by someone who is clearly an evil genius. I would love it if AMC used these. Beyond awesome.

Whoa. Those are amazing.
Holy crap. That is AWESOME.

AMC/Darabont needs to see that right away.
Tony Moore, the artist, posted in the comments section. Pretty neat.
wow, those are indeed really well done. love the song choice as well.
That seriously gave me chills. Love the pull back as Rick fires his gun.
That is fantastic. Love me some Eels.

saw the pilot the other day... possibly one of the best pilots ive ever seen.

Near masterpiece imo... the quality, from top to bottom, is amazing -- acting, makeup, camerawork, lighting, editing-- its all among the best work in zombie fiction i've ever seen.

And the scope seems much grander than i was expecting. Really seems like a lot of love went into this.

Can't wait for more (too bad its only 6 episodes!)

P.S. Also, wasn't a fan of the song at the end, but other than that, really, really great.

EDIT: Havent see the fake ones, but the actual opening credits in the show are pretty great imo.

Just saw it too and can't add much more to what you said except to say I agree with everything you said. This is easily the best pilot episode I've seen since "Lost" and it seems to have the same tone as I would imagine the ideal "World War Z" adaptation would have.

Not to make it that kind of discussion but Boardwalk Empire might just have been dethroned as the best new series this year.
How is everyone seeing this so early?
Screener for the first episode leaked online, apparently.

I can't really understand why people would watch something so awesome in such poor quality. Same as people that watch CAM copies of films. In a generation of crystal clear HD entertainment it's like going back to VHS on a 5" screen. I don't really get it.

But the response has been positive, so it's all good.
Good news for UK Chewers. FX is showing the first episode commercial free! And 70 minutes!

Very odd though. They must be taking a hit on it.

@ Dr murder -- yeah i got it with the intention of not watching it, as the resolution is as bad or worse than vhs (350x200 or something)... but i was sucked in and ended up watching the whole thing, and didnt look too bad to me (pretty hihg bitrate for the rez) ... either way i cannot wait for the full 1080 picture (does amc broadcast in 1080?), the makeup and effects alone should be (literally) awesome in hd.
Digital piracy - that explains it! That being said it's amazing how many people are posting about downloading an illegal copy of a highly anticipated show on a movie website that is very much against piracy. You couldn't make it until Halloween, really?
It was streaming, hence why more people saw it, smartass. I've watch 20 minutes.

"Holy shit" ain't enough for it.
I apologize. Please tell me where The Walking Dead is legally streaming ten days early.
Never said it was streaming legally. Only why more people saw it. No one downloaded anything. The link went dead after a few hours, as expected. But please cry more.
How do you think the 'stream' is getting to your PC? The bytes are still getting downloaded. You're still pirating something if you're watching it illegally streamed.

The only difference is that you're not helping to redistribute it so you can't possibly get sued for 'making available.'
I get that, but I was referring to distribution. My mistake to not being more precise.

In my case, I barely checked it out as I always like it better on my TV.

The catch? AMC is not distributed where I live. So what do I do? I'll manage.
It's not about "oh they saw the show before me" it's about coming to a site that's anti-piracy and bragging about committing piracy. It's unfortunate that your country won't air the show, but that doesn't justify your actions. Regardless, when you obtain a legal copy after airdate (even if that means waiting for DVD) I look forward to talking about the show with you.
Martin S is tainted....

I'm gonna watch it on Halloween. I never said how I'll manage. And I don't think I'll bother with you anymore.
Yeah, I've lived places where things aren't being distributed and it sucks so I'm not going to get all 'holier than thou' about it.

I just would discourage those who are watching leaked copies before it's released since it's not really helping anyone. And I'd imagine that there is going to be a legal way to get the episodes in Canada in not too long.

ETA: Just noticed that AMC does have Canadian distribution. If only you guys had a decent Video on Demand service up there.
Fair enough. Now back on track - any word on how many Darabont regulars are going to be in this? I caught Jeff DeMunn in one of the clips they released - anyone else so far?

Oh it's across Canada. But our local company doesn't carry AMC. (Quebec, here) One does, but charges ridiculous prices, so I'm stuck.

And yeah, I've downloaded some series, mainly HBO series 5 years back when the DVD sets where 100$ a season and HBO not available in Canada. Nowaday it's rare that a channel isn't here, but TNT, USA, FX and AMC aren't widly available yet. Depends where you are, and the company you have. I prefer buying my series or DVRing them, as the prices dropped to reasonable 40-60$ a season when released.

But a lot of international viewers are getting fucked and thus have to resort to either pirate it or ordering the series on the web, especially if English ain't the primary language.
Do they sell AMC shows on the PSN up there?

International viewers can wait until it's released on DVD. Multi-region, if need be.

So let me get this straight. I'm basically getting a brand new, Frank Darabont directed, broadcast-in-HD zombie movie with no ads, based on one of my favourite comics (yeah, yeah, I know) a week on Friday? Sweet. And I'll no doubt get to see some cool fireworks beforehand as well! England's not a bad place to be sometimes...

If the reviews of the first ep are accurate (and I can wait a week to catch it in HD rather than watching the etch-a-sketch version leaked on youtube) sounds like the 2 best zombie efforts of the last couple of years have been tv series! (if you've not seen Dead Set, get it watched...)

PS: I remember the comic book being almost universally acclaimed when it launched - is this recent backlash a result of "it's getting mainstream now so I on't like it anymore" mentality?

I'm currently watching this. Way better than I expected it to be.

It's more the writing going downhill.

Didn't know this existed. Will look into it, thanks for mentioning it.

Well of course, what's the point of liking things if you can't the "I'm better than most people" boost?

I believe IFC is going to be showing Dead Set some time next week for Halloween.
I would watch Dead Set but I can't stand Davina Mccall. She is not funny at all and really, really grates.
What, and you wouldn't like to see her die horribly?

In all honesty, she's in it really briefly, and she is surprisingly tolerable (as opposed to her normal screeching twat routine), as are all the other bb cameos. I can't stand big brother, but that if anything makes Dead Set all the more entertaining.

(sorry for derailing...)
This is happening tonight.
Been holding off (barely) from watching the leaked version -- reportedly, the version that airs tonight is supposed to be even better than the BitTorrent cut that's floating around out there.

Yes it is! In just a few hours I'll return to this very thread to talk about how awesome it was and how bummed I am there are only 6 episodes this season. Alas, I'm fucking grateful it got made at all.
How long is the episode tonight? Either way, I am buying some energy supplements in the way too early morning to come.
it's an hour and a half according to my TiVo.
Fuck me...DirecTV doesnt have AMC in HD? Im probably more upset than I should be.
Glad I paid attention to the fact that the HD feeds are EST. Sweet.
Awesome so far. Loving the pimp from Hung.
I'm glad they gave it an hour-and-a-half. That extra bit of character/world development allows for more momentum/action in the next five episodes.

Like I wasn't already sold.
Well done, Mr. Darabont. We're off to a great start.
The half woman in the park was just so beautifully done.
Loving the departures from the comic, hating not seeing it in HD.
That was damn near perfect television.
