Gemma Atherton as Wonder Woman? Or is she too busy being "english accented exposition in fantasy settings" woman?
Teitr Styrr, Lady Gaga would be perfectly cast as...Dazzler.
Robert Pattinson and the dude that plays Jacob as The Midnighter and Apollo.

but seriously, I want Harrison Ford as Omni-Man in any Invincible movie. And particually the whole of the cat of Lost could reunite for an HBO series of Rising Stars
post #54 of 119
Kurt Russell as DKR Bruce Wayne. Javier Bardem as The Joker.

With X-MEN: FIRST CLASS comign up, I want them to rewrite Beast as an older mentor-type friend to Xavier, and have Jeff Fahey step into the blue fur. That marriage of character and actor feels so Goddamn perfect that I wish Vaughn had thought of it when he working on LAST STAND.

How about casting Warren Ellis' Black Summer?

I don't know about that, but Kate Winslet was born for the lead in Ignition City.
If no one beats me to it, I might tackle this when I get home but it might be a lost cause if people are unfamiliar with it. It's pretty fucking great, though. As is pretty well everything Ellis does.
I saw a few of them I think. One big guy, one girl that's a speedster, a girl that flys I think, and a guy that talk to technogly or something? I thikn I am mising at least one more of them. Oh and the bad guy used to be one of them I think?
There's an element that I think was missing in both Hulk films. Rick Jones. In the comics, Bruce Banner saves the kid and in that heroic act, he's caught in a gamma bomb explosion. He's one of Bruce Banner's closest friends and the Hulk films were missing a little heart by not including him.

So I propose Zachary Levy as Rick Jones as a low-level SHIELD agent.

Oh, and a role for Jon Hamm? Wonder Man. Wonder Man is an actor(Think George Clooney) that has super-powers who has been an Avenger.
Ex Machina should be an HBO series (by now this line is kind of cliche among fans of graphic novels, but whatever). But I'm kind of at a loss as to who would play the main character.
What about that guy from Mad Men?
Hamm's too old.
Stephen Lang as DKR Batman, Bill Nighy as The Joker. Why? Because they're both great and Lang was the only thing in AVATAR with a pulse.

It's been awhile couldn't remember. Is Adrian Pasdar too old? Geeze, I'm an idjit, Pasdar older than Hamm. I suck at this game.

I don't think there's anything in Ex Machina that you couldn't do on a network like NBC or Fox.

Also, I don't think Hamm is too old to play Mayor Hundred.
I always saw Mitchell Hundred as being a late-stage Gen X-er who wound up as Mayor after becoming a superhero, like Topher Grace in a few years.

Patrick Wilson could do it well. I don't think the book is nearly as deep as it thinks it is(same goes for Y), but its a great concept.

I like that alot.

Howbout Michael Parks as both Batman AND the Joker?

I'm starting to wish they'd got Joe Pesci to play the Penguin in BATMAN RETURNS. He's a much better actor than Danny De Vito ever was, and Pesci was on a nutty career high in the early 90s, critically and commercially. Imagine, having BATMAN RETURNS and HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK released in the same year! It would have sent shockwaves through the Hollywood system!

I also think Ron Howard would have made a good Rorschach.
I always thought it would be awesome, visually, to see Rob Schneider as Bruce Banner and The Rock as the Hulk. Not that either is a thespian by any stretch of the imagination, but then we would have a Hulk that resembled Banner and no CGI.
Adrian Pasdar would have the right look and poise to do Hundred, but he probably wouldn't on account of surface similarities to his character in Heroes. Once you get into the later issues of Ex Machina, the whole thing becomes an Ellis-like bugfuck "invasion from parallel dimensions" thing. It's awesome.

Teitr,

There are seven "heroes" in Black Summer. I'd be casting them and their chief nemesis. It's interesting because there really are only 7 real characters including the nemesis since one of the "Seven Guns" is only talked about, never shown. It seems like no one else has read it. I strongly urge people to do so. Like a lot of his post-9/11 stuff, Ellis kinda goes into his usual blatant criticism of the Bush Admin but Black Summer might be the ballsiest of wish-fulfillments since John Horus actually KILLS the entire cabinet.
Okay, I'll wank along

Garth Ennis' Hitman series, set in the DC Universe (more specifically Gotham). Not a superhero book per se, but it might as well be for as "realistic" as it is.

Timothy Olyphant -- Tommy Monaghan
Ice Cube -- Natt the Hat
Brian Cox -- Sean Noonan
Gina Torres -- Det. Tiegel
Andy Lau -- Ringo Chen
Patrick Warburton -- Hacken
Doug Jones -- Mawzir
Stephen Tobolowsky -- Agent Truman

I would also be happy with an animated series, with these guys voicing.

Give me Chow Yun fat voicing Death (well, you know what i mean), Andy Serkis as BAYTOR!, Nestor Carbonell as Johhny Navarone, Mickey Rourke as Nightfist and help me identify a good Pat Noonan, and we're game.

Edit: Brian Denehy as Tommy's Dad would be fucking great.
Edit 2: Bruno Ganz as Tiegel's Grandfather...because It would be perfect to hear him yell "Panzer Wordwaftz!"
Howard the Duck? Animated or a costume/puppet?

Plus, if you're casting Hitman, you need a Superman-- it was only one issue, but still...
Robert Costanzo as Harvey Bullock in the TDK sequel!!! He's already done the voice!!!

For some reason, I want to see Paddy Considine as Bullock.

Black Summer is ok, could have done with fleshing out the characters abit more, and actually exploring the public's reaction to the Capt America/Superman figure going in such a dramatic direction. I think Irredeemabletackles the basic premise in more dynamic fashion, even if it lacks Ellis' politicial bite (well the first issue had that. The rest not so much).

And EX Machina is much, much better than Y (I've never gotten the love for that series. Such a good premise.)
I'll wait until Ex Machina is done before I decide whether I think it's better than Y.
Powers Boothe or Alec Baldwin as an old Batman.
Baldwin as DKR Clark.

ETA: Nah, I take that back. Warburton could still pull it off though.
Warburton looks the part, but do you think he's got the acting chops to pull it off? I'm not sure...
Hell yes. See if you can dig up a movie he did a while back called The Woman Chaser.
Justin Theroux for James Robinson's Starman.

Warburton would have made a nice Christian Walker in a Powers tv series. I could also see him as Captain "Shazam!" Marvel. Danny Huston for the Kingdom Come version.

Robert Tessier was Carl "Crusher" Creel incarnate.

Not a superhero title but Michael Byrne would be perfect for 100 Bullet's Agent Graves.

Philip Ridley should direct a Hellblazer film. He's pretty much made one in Heartless.

Hadn't thought of that while watching it, but now that you say it, yeah.

Dwayne Johnson IS Captain Marvel.

Jon Hamm.
Kelly Brook as Vampirella!!!!!!!!!!! And in a remake of STARCRASH!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce Greenwood is the only acceptable DKR Batman, I tell you. The only.

Seriously, think about it.
Greenwood is so so boring for that part. I'm gonna throw Jeff Daniels' name out there for DKR Joker, though.
Older posts, but still... I really like Lang as Batman in DKR. Still see Benicio Del Toro as the Joker, as weird as that may be.

That's a real good choice! Stephen McHattie was always in my head for Graves.

Okay, who we want for She-Hulk? Seriously, how does she not have a movie?

You know, I've thought of this, and I think She-Hulk should be mocapped with a good, but maybe Plain Jane-ish comedic actress as Jennifer Walters. I don't watch The Office, but I've seen enough of Mindy Kaling to think that she might be an interesting choice.
Kaling would be perfect for Louise Mason, who at one point acquired Shulkie's powers.

As for Jen herself, eh, just paint Jessica Biel green.

A movie? She can't even sustain a comic.

All the best She-Hulk stuff is tied pretty closely to a real fanboy knowledge of comics. You'd have to lose that for a movie (particularly given the costs involved), and I'm not sure what you're left with.

Having said that, I could see Lauren Graham as Jen.
I like Kaling because of the contrast, what with Dan Slott concentrating on Walters' self-image / body issues (not that I think Kaling has any issues, I think she's attractive), I think it makes the character a lot more interesting than painting an already idealized woman green, also I don't really dig Biel for the action-comedy that I see a She-Hulk film as being.

Neither can Blade, and he did just fine on the big screen.

True, but as I went on to point out, what works best with She-Hulk is awfully "inside baseball" for the typical moviegoer. Dumbing Jen down for the multiplex kinda makes me wonder what the point would be.
Sam Raimi's Madman

Frank Einstein/Madman -- Jason Lee
Josephine "Joe" Lombard -- Natalie Portman

Lee's hilarious and insanely watchable. He fits the body type and looks like he'd be perfect after a stint in the make-up chair. Plus, that voice... who better to deliver a "gee whiz!", "golly!", or "okey doke."

Portman's beauty is beyond question, but she'd also walk the sweetness required of any potential Joe. Just, y'know, dye her hair red and paint on a few freckles (humanahumana...)

I still like the "Guy Pearce for alternative contemporary Joker" angle, but Jeremy's Iron is definitely an interesting choice for TDKR.

I know I'm not inventing this one, but I thought Cobie Smulders would've made a great Whedonian Wonder Woman.
