So I finally finished the series yesterday (thank you NetFlix) and I have to say, this is one of the finest cartoons I've seen in a long time. It sucked me in like crazy.

To comment on the finale discussion, I have to say, while I loved Angs fight with the Firelord (I don't watch Dragonball so it was a pretty dope fight scene to me) it didn't have nearly the emotional weight that Zuko's story did. I predicted that Ang would take the Firelords Bending away as soon as he started talking about not being able to murder him.

When Zuko finally made up with his uncle though, I teared up like crazy. Probably one of my favorite on screen relationships, and the Arc for them was immensely satisfying. Zukos Final fight with his sister was beautifully done as well, with the muted sounds and the amazing music overtop.

I am going to dive into the Film in the morning, I'm curious more then anything.

My wife and I tried to watch the movie.  We'd watched the series all the way through... TWICE. 

Even knowing it was bad.  Knowing that many had said it wasn't just bad, but terrible, I thought that I could watch it out of curiosity and let my love for the show carry me through the worst of it.

The exact opposite happened.  We didn't make it past twenty minutes.  Maybe even fifteen.  It was like watching the remains of a dead loved one being desecrated.  Demeaned, not with wicked zeal, but with cold, dead, bored eyes.

 Well the movie was terrible.

well...i tried. like 3 times. its ... horrible.

ahh well i'll always have the cartoon.

Attempted to watch the cartoon last spring semester during finals, immediately got sucked in and marathoned the whole thing in the span of 4 days. LOVE. Don't think I'll ever attempt the movie, for fear it would sour me even a bit on the series. Now I have all the dvds, class is over, and think it's about time for another marathon session.

And Korra can't get her soon enough, darn it.

GOOSEBUMPS. The wait for this is going to tear me apart.

Yeah, this is gonna rock. Between this, the new Thundercats (which looks to completely blow the old show out of the water), and the imminent return of Young Justice, we're in a good place for action cartoons right now.

According to this, the creators have been getting fanmail complaining about another series, begging them to stop making Korra.  That's weird.

Jesus. What ungrateful assholes.

I just want to say, I LOVE the design for Korra. I've already heard complaints and grumbling about how the main character is "Too manly" or "Not pretty" and just, fuck that man. For all the uproar over the whitewashing of the films and racial politics, apparently there's still a strong undercurrent of sexism in regards to expectations of beauty and appearance. 

But I love the details the fleshed out, I can't wait to see this, just, SO EXCITED. I adore the idea of seeing the relatives and descendants of the characters we know from the first series. Also....

Anyone have a sneaking suspicion that the main 'bad guy' is someone we know/related to someone we know?

(Jet's ambiguous death FTW!......Just kidding, promise.)

I'm interested to know if they get around to explaining whatever happened to Zuko's mother.

I'm really liking Janet Varney's voicework as Korra so far. She has a tough, robust quality to her voice that I think suits the character.

This can't get here fast enough. Thankfully, Nickelodeon FINALLY confirmed via their Twitter that it would be airing this year... just not WHEN this year.

Yeah, 26 episodes over two seasons is all that's planned for this show.

No matter how many times I watch the "Tales of Ba Sing Se" episode, the Uncle Iroh section always destroys me. So much love for that character and Mako's voicework.

Something that interests me about his series: apparently the main conflict stems from a movement of the normals against the benders. They call themselves the "Equalists." I'm kinda interested to find out what sort of motivation has been constructed for them, because there's a huge potential for an unintentional Incredibles-style "society oppressing the superman" subtext here.

Korra Finally Gets a Release Date!

I honestly thought Nickelodeon would keep teasing the fans and release this thing in December, ha.

Oh, and they also changed the title from the ridiculous The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra to simply The Legend of Korra.
