For anyone in the greater Boston/Cambridge area, check out their Revenge of the Grindhouse series this week. Lars Nilsen from the Alamo Drafthouse is the guest curator and is introducing all the movies.
I checked it out last night. Double feature of Umberto Lenzi's Paranoia (aka Orgasmo) and Joe D'Amato's Black Cobra (AKA Black Cobra Woman, Eva nera, etc.) The midnight was supposed to be Chained Heat, but the print was still in transit so they substituted it with The Big Bird Cage. I saw the first two, but just saw Bird Cage at the Brattle last year so skipped out.
Paranoia was a hoot with a hysterical ending and a great performance from Carrol Baker. Black Cobra wasn't quite as good. Slow placing, but some wonderful nudity! Jack Palance was disappointingly phoning it in but I'm still glad I checked it out. Lars' intro's were great, even if he was jet lagged and a little disoriented.
Tonight they're doing a vampire double feature with Velvet Vampire and Thrill of the Vampires. Lady Terminator at midnight. Good stuff all week, check it out if you're in the area.
