It's brief, but it's here.

Anyone got a link a non-American can see?
I could see it.

Again I say, what's the point?

This story doesn't HAVE an ending.
(As if the usual risk of a serie getting an abrupt cancellation wasn't enough...)

Gah, too short, what a cock-tease...

Yeah, I'm Canadian and it's not working for me either. And of course HBO Canada hasn't seen fit to upload the trailer yet.

There really isn't much to see. Puts the "tease" in teaser, for sure. Just a shot of some barren woods and the graphic "Winter is Coming," basically.

As to what the point is... I'm expecting this show to go the way of ROME or DEADWOOD, and, popular or not, simply be too expensive to keep going beyond two or three seasons. With four books and a fifth that will presumably finally surface before the show could burn through four season, I don't see the issue. Hopefully it'll be a fun ride while it lasts.

Game Of Thrones wasn't on my radar, but Sean Bean + HBO = intreeging.

The teaser reminded me that I need to check out Black Death soon as well.

I'm interested but this was just "Bunch of people looking concerned in a forest."

There's been a whole discussion about this. Game of Thrones is going to be less expensive than either of those, and HBO has admitted that, if they had a chance to do it over again, they wouldn't have canceled those shows. Hence the talk of bringing back ROME for a movie or something.

I've been deeply depressed about HBO for the past few years now. I discovered it in 2004/5 and then pretty much as soon as I fell in love with the network Albrecht was forced out under suspicious circumstances and they began to produce an unending stream of toothless programming. Things seem like they're sort of turning around, but I'm not certain that this isn't going to end up as another interesting but poorly excuted program that pulls it's punches.

Plus, that trailer was just a bunch of shots of the forest. It was cool, but since I've not read the books I'll need more than that to get me on board.. I'd assume most other people would too.

Yeah, beating up your girlfriend in public on Vegas fight night is about as far from "suspicious circumstances" as you can get. And while they never caught on, I wouldn't call Tell Me You Love Me and In Treatment toothless.

Sweet.

Though I'm still quite unconcerned that the show may run out of source material.

I don't know the details of what happened, all I know was that he was great at his job and the person who came next wasn't. TMYLM was one of the most dreadful programs I've ever seen. I could not relate to a single character on that show, so what is the point? It was populated with hateful creeps and their mundane problems

I liked IT execpt for the Josh Charles plotline. It was like nails on a chalkboard listening to them fight.

And regardless, IT is no DEADWOOD/ROME/CARNIVALE.. JOHN ADAMS was a toothless whitewashing of the revolution IMHO, and aborted failures like TEN MILES OF BAD ROAD point to troubled leadership at the network. Roping in Scorsese is cool and all, but he's just a name that would be obvious to anyone. They've retained WIRE talent but I don't see forward thinking from them. Their programming in many ways seems more pedestrian than ever (endless adaptations ETC) Albrecht took the Sopranos money and went in wild new directions with it.

Kate, based on the books, GoT is very much in the Deadwood/Rome/Carnivale tradition. I'm not sure how you define "toothless" but the story is pretty damn gritty. And I'm kind of baffled that you could think the rest of the coming lineup is mundane.

I'm dying to see this but forget that teaser what a crock of crap.

To be fair, Prankster, I don't know much about these books. I just am reacting to my general perception of where the network is headed. My great fear is that it turns into a slightly upscale version of SHOWTIME*

*a network that I feel is basically network tv with swear words and nudity.

Jesus, all premium cable is network tv with swear words and nudity.

Seriously...in the first few chapters of the first Thrones book alone, you get twin brother and sister royalty secretly fucking in a barn, and that's just the incest part. There's more than plenty of "grit" to go around with these books, trust me.

(Though reportedly, Lena Headey used a bush-double for shooting that scene, being noticeably several months pregnant by that point in time.)

Actually, it was in an abandoned tower. I bet you feel ridiculous now.

I really hope they pretty much abandon the books at some point, the way Dexter did. Take the concept and the characters and let the top shelf TV writers have at.

Presupposing that "Thrones" makes it through a few seasons, they don't really have a choice.

I'm waiting to hear what the problem is.

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say I'm more looking forward to this series than any movie coming out in 2011.

Yeah, the trailer may have been weak, but I still totally squeed a bit.
