E3 2010

Given that it's now the week of E3 I'm sure we are all pretty excited! (most of us anyways)

Microsoft's Kinect was just announced for a November release..yet some of the "play" videos do look a bit fishy. As in actor in front of a huge screen kind of thing.

We could also be seeing a 500GB PS3...I wonder what Sony as in mind for all that hard drive space, most likely going to expand the PSN Store.

For myself, I'm really looking forward to the "surprise' that ValvE has in store..they've said it wont be Half-Life EP 3 nor will it be Partal 2..Wonder what they have up their sleeve.
Wow, was just going to start this thread. Glad I double checked before I did though. I hope MS talking about Kinect early means that they aren't going to waste a ton of time with that stuff during their presentation.
I hear they're dedicating an entire day to the kinectimal pavilion.
My girlfriend would love to see those videos. She thinks Kinectimal sounds great (like Eye Pet or whatever that Sony one was).
What I'm psyched for: Any and all ZELDA and MASS EFFECT 3 info. (Supposedly EA's floor plan leaked, and there's a ME3 kiosk or booth present.)

An ELDER SCROLLS V announcement wouldn't kill me, either.

Kind of sad PORTAL 2 was delayed. (Unless Valve is just fucking with us.)
I predict that this E3 will be 90% spurious Kinect and Move demos that make last year's announcement videos look like magic.
Has The Last Guardian been confirmed to make an appearance? Or is it just MORE wishful thinking on my part?
That's kind of my fear as well. Which is why I'm nowhere near as interested in this E3 as last year's. However, I do think Sony has done a good job of trying to position the Move as a controller that event the 'hardcore' may like.

ETA: I have to imagine thatThe Last Guardian is getting released sometime between September and March so I'd assume they would show it again.
Given the sheer amount of potentially amazing news announced at E3 this year, Nintendo almost has to show Zelda for them to grab a slice of the hype machine. That, and everyone's going to be scrutinizing if the 3DS is a solid enough platform to compete with iPhone 4.

Sony and MS no doubt have plenty of great looking games to show and their versions of motion control. The question is how killer are the apps? Are 3rd parties able to make compelling software as they for the most part failed to do with Wii? If the software is butty (like booty but bad) then the whole thing will have been a somewhat hollow pursuit.
So anyone have the times of the big 3 presentations?
The games I want to see from...E3, are...
Fist Of The North Star: Ken's Rage Tecmo/Koei
King Of Fighters XIII SNK/Playmore
Marvel Vs Capcom 3
Mortal Kombat
Hopefully, more...Classic Compilations. I would love a...Capcom Classics 3, featuring...The Punisher, Dungeon and Dragon Games, Earlier Marvel Vs Capcom, X-Men vs Streetfighter, and Strider 1 and 2 etc!

Completely agree. The enormous lack of buzz heading in this year's E3 that we are in the down cycle for the event. I'd love to hear about a legitimate Zelda title or something shocking, but given that the companies are drifting toward a 365 release schedule, the Christmas preview show, loses some of it's luster.
Not looking forward to this years E3 nearly as much as I have the last few. Just knowing how much time is going to be devoted and thereby wasted to motion controllers makes me not very excited for the keynotes. Im just not on board with motion controllers. Yeah, the Wii can be fun in very small doses (for me) but I'll take an immersive single player experience over waving my arms around any day of the week. Show me a game that intergrates the motion controls in a way that is intuitive and interesting (more than just "waggling") and i'll give it a go. E3 always has some surprises and this year will be no different. Count me in the "Hoping for a new Elder Scrolls announcement."

I'm sad as well, but the what they went about telling people it's going to be delayed was pretty funny. The Glados blue screen of death and the statement where Valve comes out and just says "Making games is hard" ha ha ha

As much as I love the left 4 Dead series, I hope it's just not going to be them announcing a 3rd in the series.

Things I need to hear this week

--The Last Guardian before the end of the year
--Mass Effect 3 sooner than later
--Whatever Valve wants to sell me that isn't Left 4 Dead
+Hopefully, something Team Fortress related for us poor, long-suffering console people.
--Non-Wii ish games for Natal/PS Move
--ANYTHING about that Studio Ghibli DS game
--Rock Band 3 tracklist
--Bobby Kotick has been locked in a hyperbaric chamber with a legion of murderous Africanized bees.

I forgot about all you console people. Is anyone still playing TF2 online?
Occasionally, and fun is still to be had, but it's depressingly bare every time I've checked in the last 6 months or so.

Valve promised us Orange Box updates. We got a second Left4Dead. I can't get too mad, because it's Valve, but it's still disappointing.

That said, the Meet the Pyro/Medic videos making an appearance here would be welcome.
Damnit, I want a new Half-Life!!! *weeps*. Portal 2 would stop me foaming at the mouth though. Nurse!
Why is every body losing their shit about Natal? I honestly do not understand the hype and expectations at all. My money says it fades into Eye Toy niche obscurity incredibly quickly.

This.

Also... I'm hoping Square Enix gets its shit together. 13 was a horrible disappointment in my eyes and I'm hoping they get off this portable handheld lovefest they're on and start producing some real great RPG's. Hell, I know this is cliche as all hell, but maybe they should really start looking at remaking some past FF's... 6, I'm looking at you!
9 is out on the PSN this week. I have all the FF I need for a while.

Actually, this does remind me I'd love some news on whatever Mistwalker's working on.

I agree; so far I'm not that impressed with Natal/Kinect. Sure, you can control the dashboard with a wave of your hand, and you can play a driving game by holding an imaginery steering wheel, but so what? I'm sure it'll be expensive and I haven't seen anything that will convince me to shell out the money for it.
A new Silent Hill would be neat. Hey, I loved Shattered Memories.
The tech in Kinect is still crazy cool. Real time 3D position tracking with no additional hardware? This kind of thing is the stuff of the future that we've been hearing about for years.

The question really is, how well does it actually work?

ETA: Sorry, apparently the MS one doesn't start for another 30 minutes. Apparently the countdown timer on that page at GameSpot lied to me.

I understand what you are saying, and to a small degree I agree, but on the other hand fuck Valve for their afterthoughts regarding consoles.

Damn, so going to the TeamFortress website must make your blood boil?

I would say the problem is more on Microsofts end. They want to charge for the extra stuff, ValvE does not. Oh and they are limited space to work with where on the PC they just keep throwing shit at ya.
Here's another live feed with some pre-show stuff going on.

IIRC MS and Valve hammered that shit out back late '08, and MS were okay going free. It was apparently a fight that opened the door to Criterion releasing their content for Burnout the way they did.

Cassady's "Valve treats consoles like an afterthought" comment is closer to the truth. Even though the 360 is just as easy to develop for as the PC.
Man, watching a guy play CoD is so awesome.
Underwhelming. They need to start working on a new engine. This is just more of the same. Not a great way to start. Specially the first part, which was terrible.
CoD timed exclusives announced to the timidest applause possible.
Why would you applaud someone else paying money not to release it for other people? I think at this point, people want to applaud them doing something and not them keeping other people from doing something.
I hardly think it's even worth announcing.
Wow, that cutting game looks fun.
Can't wait for CUT AT WILL in a decent, non-MGS game!
As usual looks snazzy. Have about as much vested interest in it as my last bowel movement.
Gears of War: Same as above, except it's also the same color.
But with WOMEN!

Here comes the Hype Machine!
Was that Kingdoms CGI?? Because it looked kinda incredible.

Halo is the most boring thing ever.
34 million sold. That continues to depress the fuck out of me.

The bit for kingdoms was lame. No game footage. Nothing. WTF is it and why should I care? I'm not going to lose my shit just because Microsoft teamed up with some other studio it'll end up buying up in 5 years.
They need to have some truly incredible shit up their sleeve to make this worthwhile
