E3 2010 - Page 3

"We don't have much new to show you except for a bunch of Wii retreads ... so, uh, here's a free fancy new Xbox!"
And still no Kinect price? That would make me think that the high estimated prices are right. If it was anything around or under 100$ they'd have said so.

$299 for the new x box. Weird that they never said anything about the price for the Kinect.

Same Price, already shipped to retailers, available at the end of the week.
Everybody in the audience got one.

It's going to be an odd E3 anyways because all of the big exclusives for Sony and Microsoft have sort of been and gone over the past six months. I honestly think aside from Reach neither company has a 'big gun' this year.
Zelda is always a big gun. I think Nintendo is gonna win E3 this year. Mostly by default.
Sony's been kicking ass in terms of PR as of late. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if they own this year.
I think the 3DS is the real wild card. Maybe some sort of PSP2. And Sony showing games that I actually want to play that use their controller.

That's why I said Microsoft and Sony. There's no new (proper) Metal Gear, no new Uncharted, no new Final Fantasy, no new God of War. They've built a lot of their shows around those games before. I'm expecting to have to buy a new Wii after this show.
149 for Xbox 360 arcade
249 for Xbox 360 Elite
299 for NEW Xbox 360
I'm kind of expecting Agent to steal this years show.
Back to Black Ops I guess... So when are the other press conferences? I missed almost all of this one.

I think Milo turned into a fuzzy baby tiger named Skittles.

Awwww. Abusing animals isn't even half as fun as abusing children.
I'm surprised they didn't touch on any of the object scanning stuff for the Kinect, or even the FPS finger-gun applications. Presenters did seem to be moving miiiigty slowly when demoing the feedback, which hints that the tool's not nearly as powerful as the videos from last year would have us believe.

A 3D scanner sounds like such a cool sci-fi toy, but I don't feel like anything outside of maybe Tai-Chi Hero showed us something interesting.
So that conference was pretty much a waste of time. However, I do look forward to yelling at my console.

XBox, make me a sandwich!
Anyone know when Valve's "surprise" is happening? Or is that part of the surprise?
By the way Harmonix's dance game could be huge. HUGE. It might even salvage this entire misbegotten endeavor. At the very least, if that doesn't sell Kinect, nothing will.
According to the Valve press release, "the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise."
So they're going to patch Halflife 2 and include a Half Life 3 announcement?

Great. So it's back to checking Kotaku every eight minutes for me.
I'm holding out hope, that dance game might actually help me learn to dance a bit better. I hope.
Confession: My name is Justin Clark....and I'm a black man who can't dance.

If that game lives up to its promise and pedigree, I will pretty much owe Harmonix a weekly tithing and a temple built.
I like how when the Wii was announced, the same people posting here went nuts (the same. people.). Now, you get Natal, and everyone's "shit sucks".

I guess you guys must've really hated the Wii when you bought it.
I never bought one and never will. Maybe when i have kids and i want to introduce them to gaming.
The Xbox 360 Kinect, a training tool to get Justin Clark laid. It has a nice ring to it.
Five years from now. Dusty Wiis and Kinect packages at Wal-Mart priced to clear. Mark my words.
Well, yeah. Duh. We're going to have all new consoles, or at least a Xbox 360 with much more powerful guts within five years. What's your point?
What's funny is that Microsoft sort of won E3 the last few times by pretending to be about the games whilst Sony was a little too corporate focused. This time Microsoft seem to have gone head first into the corporate side of stuff and I'm assuming that the rejuvenated Sony PR machine are going to be pushing their gaming side.
I'm just saying that this motion-control stuff is utter crap. Also, who needs an Xbox 360 Mark 2 when the PS4 has Blu-Ray and Holodisc support? It still makes me laugh that 360 users have to pay a fee for being online.

If Sony has Kevin Butler at their conference, it will be the best one by default, whether they show games or not. Well...not really, but at least it will be a bit more entertaining than what MS had.

Maybe Microsoft spent way too much money on a huge stage and celebs last year so they had to scale back a bit.

I'd rather pay that fee than deal with PSN to be honest. I honestly think XBox Live is one of the best things going in modern console gaming.

You know about the rumor that Sony is probably going to introduce PSN+ that costs money, right?
I second the love for xbox live. I could care less that I pay 50 bucks a year for it. It's a phenomenal service and with all the new additions, I'd probably pay an extra 10-20 bucks too.

Yeah, it's just PSN with a few extra features. The free PSN will still be around. Of course it's just a rumor right now.
I think if this Kinect stuff takes hold through the harmonics game, kind of like how Rock Band lit the world on fire, then it's very possible it will push the current Wii down a notch or two in the public perception. Kinect seems like the logical step for Wii 2.0, so I'm curious as to how Nintendo responds.

Nintendo: A NEW ZELDA GAME!

If it's on the Wii it'll win the show. People, rightly, love Zelda. Probably more than they do Mario. Twilight Princess was massive when it debuted at E3.

Well, it is kind of the exact same thing ... only four years later. So what should we do? "Yay! It's motion-controlled bowling! Again!"
Blarghh and I just replaced by broken Xbox and bought a wireless adapter in the last month.
Who the fuck cares if it's just another Zelda game. They haven't evolved since Ocarina of Time. Zelda needs to be something new again for me to care.

I really look forward to slicing someone in half while I'm slicing them in half, though, in Rising.
Never got that complaint. People don't seem to mind only the most facile changes happening in any other series (Devil May Cry, Call of Duty, Halo) but always string up Zelda for keeping the same basic formula even though of the three 'main' games they've done since Ocarina two of them have been stylistic departures from the series and the other implemented a new control method.

At it's core the Zelda games have always been go to forest, ice, desert, fire temple and get trinket, but Ocarina, Majora, Wind Waker all added new design ideas and tweaks to the formula.
I'm still a fan of the Wii, the system, the potential... it's just 95% of developers have done fuck-all with it other than use the waggle in annoying ways. I don't see the new MS/Sony projects changing that. Although hopefully they've learned the lesson Nintendo hasn't, of keeping out the shovelware.

*edit- Can the old HDD be used on the new 360? It looks too small in the side-by-sides I've seen.
Can't use the old HDD on the new X.box
I really don't get how you can say that Kinect doesn't do more than use motion control in annoying ways. That Harmonics dance game is about as far from "dumb waggle gimmick" as you can get.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit!
Police with a Bugatti?

What the hell kind of game is that?
I think the reason why Zelda's a big deal this time around is precisely because we know to expect something new. Just how radically different it is is another question, but Aouma and Miyamoto have both said this new Zelda will be something fresh.
