Stephen Totilo thinks Kinect has sitting-down issues

He couldn't really get a straight answer out of devs (mostly because their games were designed for standing), and MS wouldn't let him navigate the dashboard sitting down, as sitting was something they were "still calibrating for".

I hope I'm not coming across like an anti-MS fanboy or something, by the way. I play my 360 more than anything else, and I also love the Wii motion controls when used properly. So I really have nothing against this concept, but it just feels like it's not ready and they are plowing forward out of stubbornness or desperation or I don't know what. Nintendo has really fucked with these companies' minds.

I cant say just how much i LOVE that the cross/whip has a stake at its handle that you can use on enemies.

You don't really need the nav controller for PS Move.

Anyone know if there were any news on Capcom's "Ghost Trick"? Aside from a brief gameplay video and this captivate US trailer, havent seen anything on it.

I second the lack of Arkham Asylum 2 news... It's due out later this year right?

Good news. Not that I'm against being able to buy a separate controller that works better but I appreciate not HAVING to.

I can't imagine it would be a 2010 release. Games rushed out a year after the first tend to blow (see Devil May Cry 2). I always assumed AA2 was a 2011 summer title.

To me, there is no reason to buy...Arkham Asylum 2, as I already pre-ordered...Batman The Brave And The Bold. BTBATB is in...2D, which I will take over...3D, any day of the week.

No, but it looks great. It's a mix between Phoenix Wright and Scribblenauts for those who haven't checked it out. It doesn't seem like Capcom has made much of a splash this year despite having MvC3 and Dead Rising 2. They've seriously become my favorite developer in the past few years.

I...Finally got to see the...E3 trailer, I had been waiting for...Fist Of The North Star: Ken's Rage! Looks...Awesome!
Rage is looking mighty fine. It's very impressive how good they've made it look on a 360 and at 60 fps. Carmack is a freakin' god. I can't wait to see what a good PC can do with this engine.
The fact that I'm even contemplating picking up a 3DS speaks volumes. Nintendo knows how to bust out that inner child in me like no other company. I haven't been an avid Nintendo fan since the days of the SNES, but the 3DS is making me genuinely excited.
I always like it when PC fanboys act surprised that something looks good on consoles, that relatively speaking, are still pretty powerful. It's delightfully condesending.

It looks like a grimandgritty Bioshock in terms of gameplay, but the graphics are seriously impressive.

Defensive much, Spike?

Me, I always like it when console fanboys after foaming at the mouth about next-gen graphics this and HD that when their stuff was still shiny, suddenly decided that graphics really don't matter so much. Seriously, hearing that a game might look better on a different platform bothers you so much?
It's just technically accurate that the PC right now has a lot more power to offer than Xbox or PS3. But the games are usually developed for the consoles, so it's usually pointless. Really few games make use of the increased technical settings a high end Pc might offer.

Rage is looking great. Totally in line with previous ID releases.
Vader voice - "Impressive."

It looks like they've learned a lot about AI, which is cool. ID has always been a graphics code company, so even passible AI by comparison is a huge improvement.
What's even more impressive is that Rage is supposed to be sacrificing bling for framerate. In id's words their next game, Doom 4 (which is being written by Graham Joyce by the way) is going to be half the framerate (30 fps) double the detail.

There's much more parity now between PC and consoles because no one bothers to cater to PC performance advantages anymore. Technically, consoles were about eight years late to the HD party. They're "pretty powerful" because no one makes anything that causes a 3 GHz quad core and a high-end video card to even break a sweat.
That's fine too. I don't mind 30fps. It's just not SUPER smooth, and with a property like Doom I don't need slick smooth anyways.

I'm not familiar with Graham Joyce. Is he a good writer?
Rage does look pretty awesome. Hopefully the game will also feature some great gameplay, because their last game, Quake 4 I believe, was quite a dissapointment from what I remember. But not because of any technical reasons, of course.
After all the bitching people did about Doom 3 being a murky series of boiler rooms, it's nice to see id sticking to their guns.
The trouble with Rage is what didn't seem all that fresh a few years back has now kind of been done now with Fallout 3, Borderlands and even Red Dead Redemption. Not that the execution won't be interesting and potentially add a lot but that it's even less novel than it may once have seemed.

It tells you a lot about the kind of games MS will be pushing with the Kinect. The inability to be seated will basically preclude continuous play for multiple hours, which suggests it is effectively built for souped up Wii-style party games without the few 'hard-core' 1st and 3rd party titles.

Similarly, the Minority Report style media controls are pretty awesome, but they will be severely neutered if you can only use them while standing.

The PS Move doesn't look to great either, particularly if it has as much problem with light as has been rumoured.

For a very GoW looking game, I thought the most impressive thing was the less juvenile and more serious horror tone (than GoW).

ID didn't develop Quake 4 in-house, Raven Software did as I recall.

DOOM 3 was ID's last game.

Wouldn't that have been Quake Wars?

I think what you mean to say is:

ATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!

But seriously, it looks fantastic, Koei has perfected the Dynasty Warrior's formula and distilled it into FotNS: Ken's Rage.

I've never played Quake Wars, but I think that was a similar situation. ID's last in-house Quake was Quake III: Arena.
Well, id also did those really crappy Doom RPG mobile games and those a bunch of Doom ports as well as Quake Live.

Dr Syn, With Fist Of The North Star: Ken's Rage and Mortal Kombat,...M rated games are getting...Bloody, Good! Don't forget...You're already dead!

That would be Splash Damage. The people behind the Enemy Territory mod for Return To Castle Wolfenstein.

And to your previous question, if you're into horror/fantasy literature Graham Joyce is considered a pretty big deal. Even more, having an actual multiple award winning writer involved hands on with a game from day one and not brought three months before it's finished is a very good sign.

Child Of Eden Impressions.

This does kinda take away the specialness of this being my own personal killer app for the Kinect, though, since you can apparently still play it like Rez. Doesn't change the fact that they could name their price for this thing, I'll pay it.

Found these on the High Def Digest boards:

The bottom one is the new power brick:

I traded up my 360 at Gamestop along with the HDD, wireless controllers, and wireless router for $230 towards the new XBOX. As far as I'm concerned the $70 out of pocket was worth the 180gb upgrade, and after installing a game to the HDD it's virtually silent. I tried standing it up on its side out of the box, but it almost ate my GTA IV disc so I'm sticking with the horizontal setup.

The best part was Gamestop let me bring my old HDD home, tansfer the data to my new XBOX, and then bring it back right after.
