Band of Horses- Infinite Arms

The reviews are kind of mixed for Infinite Arms. So I waited before buying it.

But after the CHUCK finale, those 2 songs used in the show were reason enough for me to snag this year's release.

Cease to Begin won me over as a fan really easily, and Infinite Arms has some big warm pop goodness too. I'm only into my first real listen, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the more Americana driven sound.

anyone else care to comment?

I was really excited for this, but it's been such a good summer for music that I've barely listened to anything outside of "Laredo". But "Laredo" is fucking spectacular.

I, too, haven't given this enough attention since it's release, but I saw them a few times in the last 6 weeks and the new songs (the few they played) sound really good live, especially Compliments and Northwest Apartment.

It was a bit of a letdown on first listen, and I haven't really revisited it. Not bad mind you, just sort of forgettable. But that's like two listens. I'll come back to it at some point down the road and I fully expect to find a few songs that hook me. For now though it was a mild disappointment, especially given how rich this year has been musically.

It's not as consistent as their past two albums, but there are some real gems on "Infinite Arms." "On My Way Back Home" and "For Annabelle" have been getting a lot of play on my iPod lately.

I think the main issue with the album is that quite a bit of the songs don't really stand apart from each other. The hooks and choruses on there past two releases were instantly recognizable after a couple of listens, whereas only two songs really pop into my head when I think of this album. The rest of the songs are decent, but they just don't make that big of an impression on me.
