It's moving! It's alive! It's alive!

Now I know what it feels like to be God!

After a 36 hour (!) labor wife gave birth last Friday to Aviva, a healthy 6 pound 14 ounce harbinger of doom. She's been great. Got her home yesterday and have found that yes indeed, everything you've heard about the sleepless nights was right on the money. But she's been a very chill little girl so far, even though she has no idea how much I'm going to corrupt her with horror movie knowledge.

Anyway, hope this explains my diminished presence the last few weeks. Exciting time for me but hope to get my writing back on track (in between naps.)

Congrats big man.

Congrats (and great job), Alex and wife! Happy Father's Day - what a great gift.

Her "talk to the cheek" pose in that last picture is priceless. What a beautiful little girl.

Here's to many, many, MANY happy years for all three of you!

I thought this was gonna be a thread about how your homebrew experiment went horribly wrong.

Congrats, Alex!

Congratulations Alex. And good luck.

Congrats, Alex! The sleepless nights suck, but they get easier. Before long, you'll have no problem stumbling around in the dark with a baby in your arm while you're half asleep.

Very cute! (the baby, that is). Congrats!

Congratulations Alex, she's beautiful, and looks like she's smiling already! Don't read her to sleep with Lovecraft until at least age 2.

Congratulations to you and your wife! Aviva is absolutely precious. If it's my doom to die of adorableness, then harbinger of doom she is.

I like that she has a pretty name that is also a palindrome.

I thought it was a resurrection of that old dead cat thread.

Congrats, Alex! If that is indeed you in the pic with hair on your head and no beard??? You almost look respectable. Or is that the good twin?

Yeah, that's me reading some Hitchhiker's Guide to her. Miss the beard terribly...

You're the first to pick up on that! Kudos. I was briefly considering torturing her for life with a middle name of Vivian. Aviva Vivian Riviello. So people could just sound like absolute idiots when they said her full name. Vuh-vuh-vuh-vuh.

Thank you sir. I was thinking of how much you might appreciate it when I realized that one of her possible nicknames is Vivi.

Thanks everyone! I'm sure to post more pictures in that "show off your kids" thread and annoy everyone a helluva lot down the road.

Congratulations, Alex, to you and the missus. Start pricing shotguns now. Trust me (I'm the father of two daughters in their early teen years. You can't start soon enough).

Congrats, Alex. You should have a documentary crew follow you around once she's old enough to date. Hijinks will ensue.

I'm the honest one here. I'd totally shoot you straight if that was an ugly kid. I'm afraid it is, indeed, and adorable baby.
