Transformers The War For Cybertron

Any body else playing this?

I'm having TONS of fun with the demo. Popping in and out of vehicle form is tons of fun, and melee killing dudes with the big robot sword attack is SO satisfying!

I don't really have an attachment to this series, but I'm glad I tried the demo. Any body else?

Is the demo on the PS3 or X Box? Or both?! I'm curious about this.

I checked my PS3 last night and didn't find it, so I assume for the moment it's Xbox exclusive. I cannot stop playing this. Jumping into the air and warping in and out of vehicle mode is something they NAILED. Plus the actual vehicle/robot combat and shooting feels really solid. It really makes me wish I could drive around in the Bumblebee Camaro in a Burn out sized map.

Looks like I have a reason to boot up my X-Box!..is it a big file?

thanks for the heads up?

Transform and roll out, you bitch

Getting this later today.

Gears of War graphics and gameplay with Modern Warfare's leveling and perk system coated with a love and reverence for G1 Transformers, drop in/drop out 3 player campaign co-op, create-a-bot and 5 on 5 competitive play = day 1 purchase for me.

There's also a 4 player Horde like survival mode.

Demo was good and people who got it early (stoopid Sears) say the full game is awesome.

IGN gives it a 9. Horde mode? Co Op? 12 hour high quality campaign? This looks better and better.
Kotaku loved it, but raised the issue that the single player campaigns are short as hell.
Hoping for a PC demo sooner rather than later!
I've only played the first 2 Decepticon chapters so far and a few rounds of multiplayer but woah my god I think I love this game.

This is like a Transformers and video games fan's wet dream; no humans, gritty and brutal all out war, all on Cybertron, based on G1.

So far to me its like the Batman: Arkham Asylum of Transformers games.
I'm hearing really good stuff about this. Assuming the PC version is up to par it's going to be my next purchase.
Thanks to this thread, I learned that this game existed and bought it sight unseen (other than clips online) for the PS3. It'd better be good, or so help me!
Picked this up - don't know why it's priced so low.

Just fucking love what I've played so far. A kick ass opening cinematic. Satisfying combat. Cool character interactions between the team. Only fault is the tutorial is pause menu based - you don't want to read a god damned pause menu tutorial while kick ass shit is happening on screen. So far my other only knock against this is the lack of system link support despite there being coop options available.

Think I'll wait for the missus to step out and enjoy this with the surrounds cranked up later on today.
I don't believe it. These assbags are delaying the European PC version indefinitely. What the fuck?

How much did you get it for?
40 bucks, in Canada...usually games up here cost 70.

And that sale ends today, at least at Best Buy. Just picked up a copy myself, I effing hate Transformers but you guys and RL friends were raving about it so much I figured I'd give it a whirl.

Don't disappoint me!
Ah. Mine was 60 bucks. That, and I get 10 bucks off the next video game purchase I make on Amazon. Just arrived in the mail today. I'll be trying it out soon...

It's good. My friend and I are doing Co Op one chapter at a time. The multiplayer is tons of fun, and it even has a Horde mode that borrows the buying new combat rooms and weapons feature from World at Wars Nazi Zombies game. It all works pretty fantastically.
PC version is a lot of fun. Not a whole lot of settings, graphically speaking, in the menu, so you would have to tinker manually. No matter what you do the game won't look THAT good, but the gameplay is so good and the story so perfect for Transformers that I don't care at all. A very solid shooter. Just wish it could push my PC a little harder.

I disagree. Both the Decepticon and Autobot campaigns are 6 hours a piece on the higher difficulties. That is a 12 hour single player campaign. I don't see what the complaint is -- hell, people (myself included) adored God of War 3, but I'll be damned if it takes more than 5 hours to beat if you know what you're doing.
6 hours a piece because they become a lot harder and you'll replay sections because you die so much? Or because you can't just barrel through because you can't take so much damage?
Well, as for my experience, because I kind of suck and can't barrel through them because you don't have a lot of health. And because I stop moving a lot so I can here all of the dialogue because, as a TF nerd, the voice acting is excellent. I guess really skilled players could blast through them quicker.
Speaking of Transformer nerds,

I wish that was blasting during parts of the game.
Just played through about 3/4s of this tonight. Its ok. I kinda think that after you've finished the Decepticon story, you've seen all the game is going to give you. It took me 5 hours on medium. If I did it again, I could knock that down a bit (I did a bit of exploring for the Autobot icons).

And I just can't understand why there is no local co-op in this game...its basically demands it. I imagine playing with others online, the campaign would be a lot more fun, because playing solo means you - and only you - will be taking out the enemies (It took what felt like a good 20 minutes or so just to finish phase one of the Decepticon final boss). Your 2 allies are only there to have conversations, and spawn awkwardly when you end up a checkpoint or to ahead of them.

5 hours?! My friend and I are going at a reasonable pace(he's adjusting to the controller), and some of these chapters are taking us two hours to finish. The campaign is not five hours, even if you're rushing I find that hard to believe.

After getting my hands on Star Scream and Jetfire I don't want to play as any body else...
5 hours for the Decepticon side. I imagine the Autobot campaign would be about the same.

If had played local co-op (and someone to actually help take out the enemies) and didn't look around for the Icons, I think it would have been shorter than that.
Hadn't even heard of this. You bastards I loved G1 dammit and ROTF kinda sapped the specialness of the nostalgic love I had for this but this sounds pretty awesome.

Think i'll be buying this soon now.
Just finished chapter 6 in the Autobot campaign.

Woah my god best level so far besides chapter 2.

I'm on purposefully playing by myself first because I when I play a new game I like to soak it all in and take my time. If I had partners from the start, especially griefing random ones, I'd probably be prodded into hurrying or miss a lot of the good character banter and nuances over the game chat.

So far I definitely see myself wanting to play this over again and then I'll be game to team with people.

Finished it with my buddy. It was totally worth it. I've never laughed so hard playing with a buddy. He isn't the greatest player and I was definitely carrying us, but he's a big fan and was able to explain most of the story to me, and why the cameo's are cool and stuff.

Great experience. Want a sequel. I also need to get into the multiplayer.
The multiplayer is my current addiction and the sole reason I have yet to complete the campaign. (That and still trying to finish Red Dead Redemption and its online addiction)

I always like stealth in my games so the Scout class with its cloaking ability is my go to character.

I love jetting around as the Scientist class but they are so freaking weak. If you're playing a mode where you have to grab and capture something don't be a Scientist. If you are, don't go for grabbing the thing, just hang back and help out the stronger carriers. If your whole team is Scientists...you're screwed.
Wow, so this is actually good?
It's decent. It feels unpolished though.

What makes you say that?
The background and characters can be too busy sometimes, and the ammo placement in SP could have used a little more thought.

And the melee in combat can be really clunky. And the last bosses are a little underwhelming in terms of gameplay. Trypticon is a bitch since there's only a couple places that you can avoid his aimed attacks. And even then it's not absolute.
It feels pretty repetitive to me. I'm three chapters in and I'm already a little bored with it.
This weekend's a double XP weekend, just so you guys know.

You were expecting more variety with a third person action shooter game?

At least there's the 2 Jet levels and the sections where you have to roll out really fast. I liked those parts.

Btw, which faction did you start with? The Autobot campaign does sorta feel like a different (better) game than the 'Con side.
I dunno, played the multiplayer demo and it feels slipshod as fuck. Great presentation though.

In retrospect, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed this experience NEARLY as much without my buddy to play with. Our interplay probably added lots of fun to the experience. Don't play this single player on your own.

Meh, to quote myself from earlier,

"I'm on purposefully playing by myself first because when I play a new game I like to soak it all in and take my time. Just the way I do things.

Also forgot to mention, the best mode for the double XP weekend is Conquest. 300 points per node capture. I leveled my level 10 Scientist and level 10 Scout each to level 15 in a couple of hours!

It's lame that the Scientist has so little health. My natural desire is to fly directly into the middle of combat and land in a group of enemies, but the scientist is more of a support unit.
The best strategy I find to fly into a group of enemies is to have disguise and shockwave, especially buffed up.

Couple of times I saw 3 or 4 enemies crossing a bridge, swoop in, transform, shockwave, fall to their death. They never saw me coming.
