I don't know what it is about CHUD, but posters here can really show their ugliest sides at times...

Ideally, we'd all treat each other like we know each other, and use our morals and decencies when approaching conversations like we would interacting in real life. There's an assumed respect you use when talking to strangers and acquaintances that I wish would bleed over onto the internet. Some of the comments in this thread are so nasty that I refuse to believe the poster would ever be so blunt and ugly in person... How could you ever make friends that way?

Yep, FILM, is what is discussed here. Other than FILM, there is Video Games, RPGS and Board Games, Music, Comics, Books and Magazines, Paint Clay Ink and Blood, Sports, Uncle Mitch's Toy Shop, Atlanta Stuff, LA and the West Coast, East Coast, The Midwest, Outside the USofA, Gossip, Humor, Misc Culture, Shameless Links and Self Promotion, Sex, Poilitics, and Regilion.

FILM is the big draw to this site, but well...you get the picture.

ETA: Oh, and Princess Kate. We discuss her from time to time. You don't like that, you don't need to read it. If you are a bit patient, you probably won't read about her in the near future. She's been given an ultimatum dontchaknow? However, me and a few others don't mind having her around and sincerley hope she can reign it in a bit and can continue to post here.

But, yeah, FILM is the passion.

I bitched about her when she showed up. She remains the only CHUD poster to ever make it to my ignore list. Yes, it sucks when you go through 3-4 posts in a row by her in a thread you were interested in (you see new posts, hit the thread and see a bunch of ignored posts) and it sucks a little bit when people are quoting right and left, but whatever. I don't see her posts, I don't respond to her posts, and at the end of the day it doesn't really impact my life in the slightest. I'm not sure why that's hard for other people.

Considering some of the comments posted in this thread, I would rather not meet said posters in person.

It's not just a matter of what they would or would not say in person, it's that they would even say it anywhere, period.

Princess Kate isn't as bad as people make her out to be. She's a little over enthusiastic with her posting, and not everything she says is completely coherent........but she's a girl who loves and is very opinionated about film. I think she adds a nice presence to the board, even if she is a bit off the wall.

Plus, she's no worse than Duke Fleed but he gets shit on way less because he's not a girl. It's pretty dumb.

Yeah I'm going to call bullshit on that one. Fleed has elipses and silly puns, but beyond that most of his posts have actual substance and well thought out, coherent arguments. To put him & PK in the same category is a bit ridiculous. It has nothing to do with sex, either.

edit: Steve's right. I remember it, and I'm not that much of an old-schooler.

I think, after reading how he loved Jonah Hex and has no desire to see Inception or Scott Pilgrim, that I just have trouble believing that Fleed is real. I never doubted Kate's sincerity. I always figured that's just how she thinks.

If that's the worst thing you can come up with for Fleed, he's not even close to Kate. At least Fleed doesn't create topics filled with hubris and ignorance over real medical conditions and come off like a total tool.

A lot of those posts are on her blog, which no one has to read, but gets more visitors than just about any other user blog on the site.

When it comes to TALKING ABOUT MOVIES, which is why I'm here, I'd much rather talk about them with Kate than Duke Fleed.

There's a certain section of this board that is obsessed with hating Kate. I think it's a little creepy. I don't see how she's, at worst, completely harmless.

She created a whole thread about it just below here, pal. It's not just on her blog (which I've never touched).

It's not really creepy at all. I've been on this message board for two years now and she's pretty bad. She derails threads, goes on and on about the most randomest shit possible. Hell, she even tried to derail her own Asperger's thread multiple times.

It's okay to challenge, it's okay to debate, but when you act completely clueless and stupid about something you bring the whole boards down.

I don't ignore Kate because I shouldn't have to. I shouldn't have to remove myself from the responses of people on this board. I want to hear all responses, good and bad. And I have every opportunity to commend when a post is great and rip the shit out of someone when the post is terrible. Most of Kate's posts are either completely pointless, annoying, or flat out bone-headed. I don't like banning unless there's spam, but I don't have a problem with calling out people for stupid shit either.

When I first posted at...CHUD.COM, I made a...HUGE, mistake, and that was making puns of screen names, and as a result was gifted...Alot of red boxes, which are not to be confused with...Redbox, our own, Rene (Mr. Eko's) fave video rental recepticle, but negative vibes. Eventually The boxes went green, to the posters I was more friendly with. Thus, I felt the need to defend myself, and that shot my post count...Way Up! I still post alot, but only on the topics I like and not defending myself.

I have no problem with...Princess Kate, at all. She is a...spirited poster.

Also...Nearly everyone I am close to,...derides my taste in film, tv, and the desire to still play videogames, and watch anime, and read comics, at this point in my life.

Do what you want Duke Fleed. The opinions of others to "grow out" of film, tv, videogames, comics, cartoons - only comes from people thinking that everyone should be the same. If those things give you fulfillment, go for it. I know I'll still be playing videogames and watching movies when I'm 80.

I find it funny when people will deride someone for playing video games all day for wasting their time, yet they're watching about 6 hours of reality TV a night. Spend your time doing what you like to do. You can't live for no one else.

Do you never visit the forums below "SPECIFIC FILMS"? The Chud forums are a pretty wide-ranging place, where more than just film is discussed. It seems the people that have the most problem with Kate are the ones who use the most amount of the forums.

I pretty much agree with this. If Mods are encouraging pretty much everyone to put a poster on ignore, then what's the point of that person NOT being banned? I love coming here, but I don't take these forums too seriously, and if Kate posts something slightly ridiculous in random thread #409 in Misc Culture I'm not going to feel overly bad about making a quip or two. I don't think that makes me just as bad as the one who made the original dumb post, contrary to what some have said in here.

Princess Kate is a joke, yes, but I don't even have her on ignore. I simply skip past her posts once I see her screen name.

It really is that simple.

Seems like folks revel in too much drama.

That said, if she was ever banned permanently, you won't hear me complaining. I've adjusted to and accepted her presence on the boards. When you don't have much of a choice, that's all you can do. There's no point in constantly whining about your dislike for her.
