I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny.
Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...
Freddy returns in Hi-Def back to where it all began. A stepping stone for many other films of its time including numerous sequels, A Nightmare on Elm Street is considered by many as a classic of 80’s horror.
While I don't agree exactly with your review I find most of the commenters comments asinine (shocker). Nerds are so sensitive. You soundly articulated your reaction to the film, I thought.
I am midway through my review of the NIGHTMARE 8 film box set. I'm quite curious to see if I get such venom, as I will have some unkind things to say about the series as a whole. Though I have a bit nicer things to say about the first film.
The third is the only other one that comes close to the first in quality. It takes the concept but does a lot more with the special effects and dream world.
If the surreal quality of the first was something you dug, I'd recommend checking out the third. Some feel it's the only installment which lives up to the potential of the franchise. (I still think the first is superior.)
It's also pretty much a direct sequel to the original, completely ignoring the events of the second film. (For the better)
New Nightmare is a more interesting movie to THINK about it than it is to watch. For a horror movie, I actually think that's kind of a compliment. It's an interesting entry in the franchise, even if it isn't a great one.
Give 3 a shot. New Nightmare's flat, but it's still an intriguing watch.
Yup.
Though, really, if you weren't into the first film I would find it sorta odd if you were into any of the others. But if you're curious to see where the series went, those would be my recommendations too.
