Seems to imply that Wolverine volunteered. I thought the blood and the screaming was him driven insane (like in the comics) by the bonding process.
The funny thing is, he actually wasn't that much of an animal during his time with Stryker. The main mission we even see him on, is the one where he gets second thoughts and leaves.

He's so much of an animal, that he quit because he didn't want to kill innocent people. That monster!!!

Yep.

As someone who does not like Ryan Renolds, I had no problem with Dead Pools mouth being sewn shut. Additionally, Deadpool's reveal was genuinely horrific IMHO, and showed the frightening implications of the Weapon X program brought to it's logical conclusion. A human as nothing more than a vessel for super powers, with no concern on the part of the CIA for the humanity of the individual. One of the very very few things the film did well, IMHO.

The thing about Deadpool in the comics Kate, was that he was funnier than Spider-Man, even. The dude talked non stop and broke the forth wall more than a couple of times. He is a very fun character, and this movie, in my opinion, did him no justice. I think his moniker in the comics is "The Merc with a Mouth". Kinda ironic what they did to him, huh?

Took the words right out of my mouth. Or fingertips. Well done.

I watched the second half of this movie on HBO a couple of weeks ago. It confirmed what I read about it. While Jackman is still great in the role, everything else in the movie is weak. The "big fight" between Victor, Logan and Wade, is no where near as good as Logan vs Lady Deathstrike in X2.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact that Lynn Collins is FUCKING AWFUL in this movie. The level of inept and HORRIBLE acting from her part still pisses me off to no end everytime I watch a few minutes of this on cable.

She's pretty much one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. She just has this STUPID fucking stare-into-space face that I can't stand. When it's her turn for dialogue, she has awful delivery, and when it's someone else's turn to do something, she just makes the same stupid "duhhhhhhhh" mannequin emotionless face all the time. It's like she forgets the camera is on her and is waiting for the red light.

Sorry, I'm rambling. I fuckin' hate Lynn Collins.

Anyways, yeah, this is one of the worst movies I've seen. Just completely awful. Awful CGI, awful acting, awful plot, awful dialogue, awful creative decisions, awful script... I hate this movie.

I hated Wolverine, but not nearly as much as X3 - which isn't saying much. The difference is that no matter how bad it got, at least Wolverine had some weird entertaining shit. X3, on the other hand, was just persistently mediocre.

Oddly enough, I thought she was fine in True Blood where she plays a sex kitteny waitress.

She didn't look particularly Native American though.

F/X is running a "Disappointing Superhero Movie Marathon" for Fourth of July Weekend. Both Fantastic Fours, X-Men: The Last Stand, Spider-man 3. Next year I'm assuming Wolverine will be on the list.
At least to me...There are no bad performances in...X-Men Origins Wolverine, as it is an...X-Cellent film.

Heh, no Ghost Rider?

Trudat.

My wife's been bugging me to see this, so I picked up a dirt cheap used copy on DVD and we popped it in last night. She fell asleep in the middle of it and I had a good laugh.

Those Toon Town claws he's got in front of the mirror? LULZ

I'll have to read the other several threads for this POS for more entertainment. Fox sure knows how to make a Marvel hero flick, huh? Jackman has turned his beloved charcater into a joke (producer credit) in this hugely missed op. What they did to Deadpool is inexcusable.

I went from head shakingly amused to seething in this post.

What a shit sandwich.

I'm really interested to see where Wolverine goes from here. Is Vaughn keeping Singer's continuity for First Class. Will Fox try and crowbar him in somewhere? I'm a big fan of Jackman, and liked him as Wolverine but I think he's blown it now. I would like to see someone else play Logan now.

About Wolverine Origins 2? I guess Angel makes an appearance, but is going to be female....but then that info came from a PA on Real Steel who said he got to read some of the script...so HUGE grain of salt with that one.

To add insult ot injury, I just watched UNIVERSAL SOLDIER direct-to dvd flick. It's miles better than WOLVERINE on a crumb of the budget.

EDIT: And when "Ma and Pa Kent" show up and see naked Logan, I was hoping they would try to force Logan to be their foundling baby.

This flick made $373 mill Worldwide??? I guess that pirated workprint didn't hurt it enough. And it made more money in foreign BO. Considering "dumb American audiences" are always the brunt of the joke, I found this interesting.

Wow, the intro to the video game is cooler than the whole flick it's tied into.

Where can it? One of the dumbest things the movie did was create super-special Wolverine-killing bullets and fire one into his brain. Once he dusts himself off from that, what is really going to threaten him?

Oh, right, ninjas. Yawn. Superman is more vulnerable than Wolverine at this point.

I would rather have Wolverine in...Madripoor, next on a script written by, Peter David, who wrote numerous Wolverine comics. I would save Japan, for a possible...Wolverine III! I really enjoyed...X-Men Origins Wolverine! The only thing I agree with any of the detractors, about was the...Ma and Pa, that took him in, that Zero, butchers.

Im not sure whether you played it but the game was seriously R rated. Disembowling, decapitating tearing folk in half it was all there. Blur did the animations on the cutscenes. A remarkably talented group of people.

Schwartz, thats why I slowly lost my interest in the character. His healing factor seemed to grow exponentially with his popularity. In the Civil War story he's flayed to a skeleton in a nuclear explosion and walks it off (sorta) it removes any tension instantly.

Just realized that both flicks have a good chunk of the running time at post-disaster nuclear plants.

Wolverine is just such a fucking terrible character.

I think he is now. But that Man With No Name thing he had going on was brilliant. He was dangerous, ruthless, mysterious and (yeah I'll say it) very cool.

Now he is none of those things. No can can figure out how to give him a new character arc. He has nothing left. Today he is either a punchline or something for Colossus to throw.

Mike's Pants, To me...Wolverine is one of...The, coolest Marvel Characters. He is not only the X-Men's...Clean Up Hitter (he always saves them, when they need saving), he is nearly indestructable, with adamantium claws that can cut through anything, a samurai, a bar owner in Madripoor...the wildest fictional city in the Marvel Universe!

My fave Marvel characters...
1) Nick Fury Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Jim Steranko's Fury, not...The Ultimate Fury)
2) Tony Stark/ Iron Man
3) Logan/ Wolverine
4) Frank Castle/ The Punisher
5) Iron Fist
6) Thor
7) Snake Eyes
8) The Shogun Warriors
9) The Micronauts
10) Psylocke

I hope that...Wolverine 2, Slashes, into cinemas next after Real Steel!

Duke Fleed your list is magnificent (there is however a giant Deadpool shaped hole in it). I cannot argue with your points, I think I just preferred tormented loner Logan when he had no origin, but the boy in me still loves him.

Mike's Pants, I never read...Deadpool! What little stories that I have read featuring him, I like. Mainly, I get the 60's to mid 80's Marvel Essentials. If...Deadpool the film, ever gets made, then I will get a...Deadpool Collection! I do not love...Wolverine Origins the comic, but...Wolverine is one of my favorite characters, and I enjoy most of the comics, and media featuring...Logan. Logan's time in...Madripoor, remains my favorite. The Silver Samurai, his engagement to Mariko Yashida, his time around Yukio, Psylocke, Alpha Flight, I enjoy it all. Did you ever watch...Hulk Vs? Wolverine and Deadpool, are together in it. Marvel Vs Capcom 3 also includes...Deadpool. Check out the numerous videos on, youtube.
I can not wait for Marvel vs Capcom 3. It looks incredible. I quite enjoyed the Hulk Vs films. Have you read Weapon X by Barry Windsor-Smith? That's my favourite representation of Logan. A dangerous, tortured animal. It was adapted into a novel by a guy called Marc Cerasini which was really enjoyable, it also added a bit of ambiguity regarding his origins that I thought was quite clever.

I liked the first run or so of the new Weapon X series by Jason Aaron. Good characterization of Logan, without him being too perfect, and a nice minimal approach to the universe. No X-Men appearances, although Maverick has a nice sub-plot.

I haven't come across that, I may give it a go.

Mike's Pants, Weapon X is good not great. Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's...Wolverine is...X-Cellent. Peter David's Muramasa Sword, (in the late 80's) storyline is...Epic! Any throwdown with...The Silver Samurai or The Hand, is equally...X-Citing as well!

Sirs I bow before your Wolverine knowledge. It is far superior to mine.

Hahaha, see I'm in the minority here because I actually enjoyed watching this terrible movie.

First of all I'm not a diehard Xmen fan, I watched the cartoon a bunch when I was a kid and saw the movies but I never read the comics and I went in not really knowing or caring what Wolverine's origin story was supposed to be.

Also, the trailer made it pretty clear to me that this wasn't going to be anything but hot men with muscles and explosions and fights and cool scenes with Wolverine slashing things up with his claws and that's exactly what I got out of it.

I can see how disappointing it would be if you went in expecting it to be a good movie that does the story justice though, haha. It was 100% stupid popcorn flick.

Reading all these posts makes me want to read the comics now though, it sounds like I'm missing some interesting stuff. Maybe once I've read it all I will be suitably outraged, hehe.

Werewolf girl, you've brought a bit of sanity to the thread. It IS just a daft popcorn flick and let's be honest I don't think they were trying to make anything else. It's just that the source material (at times) is so rich and far far deeper. The team behind it seemed to purposefully jettison that depth in favour of 'spolsions 'n' brawlin'.

Yeah, it is a shame because I suppose a much better and deeper movie could have existed in its place, but that doesn't mean it can't still happen in the future. We had the stupid action version, maybe someone else will take the reigns and do a more serious version that is truer to the source material some day.
You can make a good brainless action flick, though. This isn't good in any sense of the word. It didn't have to be deep, it just had to not be fucking terrible.

These are the kind of quotes we should see on the back of DVD covers. Kudos to you.
