Entourage Season 7

Didn't see a thread, so thought I'd be quick, since the episode was so damn short I really can't write much.

Really felt like a short setup. Looks like Ari is going to have marriage issues, Johnny is back to square one, E is planning his wedding, Turtle is running LimHoes, and Vince did a stunt that seemed to make him come out a lil weird.

Really it needs another episode to see where things are going. Short and sweet is nice, but not enough just plain sucks. Hopes thats not their plans for tune in next week, because there really feels like this episode needs a counterpart to explain things and see where things are going.
Yeah yeah. Yeah. Not singing the song though, I'm summarizing the plot.

"I don't wanna bullshit the audience" lolololol.
"You don't wanna look like a pussy" and the camera zooms around Vince's guyliner.
Esfandiari + Moneymaker lolz.
Nick Cassavettes is fun though.
"No, not really. I got the company retread this weekend."

Yeah yeah. <3

I will be closely following this thread because I am curious who still watches this garbage.
I haven't watched this yet, but I sure will, even though I won't like it and I'll bitch about it all season. I'll try to keep it to myself though.

Actually next week they're just rerunning this episode again. It's a bit baffling how HBO sets their schedule. They premier this (and more importantly Hung) one week and teethe following take it off for 4th of July. Why not just start the shows July 11th?

Really debating if I should even bother with this new season...

This has always been a bro show, but good god, last season was uniformly awful. They threw out some potentially interesting developments (Vince dealing with the realization that hes a shitty actor... ok, so ONE potentially interesting development) in favor of random sexcapades and Turtle relationship woes. When the show was about the process of movie-making, even in the highly stylized and dumbed-down way it was portrayed, I could find stuff to like. But when you take out that element, its just a bunch of idiot bros chasing tail and playing xbox. Why even bother getting guys like Frank Darabont to appear if the closest you're going to get to movie-making is having your movie star main character learn how to drive a car?

Even with minimal investment, season 6 was one of the most frustrating seasons of television I've ever bothered to watch.

Even though I have HBO for True Blood I don't watch this...until we deploy. Invariably someone brings a few seasons along and we watch one a night, usually just looking for boobs.

1st, props for your service.
2nd, wouldn't porn just be easier?
Porn would be I suppose, however, I can't see any of us watching porn with a room full of people. We usually have a series that we will watch until it's over and move on to another one. Deadwood is a big crowd pleaser, Dexter, and so on.
christ, this has been on for 7 seasons?
79 episodes so far. They're roughly typical HBO seasons for the most part, so it feels longer.
Easily one of the worst episodes in the past 3 or 4 seasons. I was cringing during the 2nd scene (when Vince went into the trailer with the director and producer).

Even Ari couldn't save the episode. Show has become pure garbage.
I think that there was seriously too much douche in that episode.

The Notebook's Nick Cassavetes? Dropping a She's So Lovely reference that only the 12 people who actually saw that movie would understand?

The good news is that this was the last draw for me. I really should have dumped this show 3 or 4 years ago.
This show quit being good after Season 3. And even that's a stretch. Glad i jumped ship long ago.
I still watch it, even though none of the characters really have developed much since season 1. It started out as a group of guys hanging out in Hollywood and having fun with some elements of the movie-making business mixed in. They try to add some dramatic elements into it then just resolved them in the most uninspired ways possible.
I still watch it. Mostly for the fun cameos, Ari's insults, and the boobs. Every show usually follows those guidelines.

I'm thinking that screwup with Turtle and that broad is going to lead to him getting sued and losing the company and Vince's money that I'm sure he borrowed to start that business.

Not a bad idea though. Hire hot chicks to drive horny bigshots around. Throw in a handjob and you'll be loaded with cash before you know it.
Man, I really wish that Extras or even Action were both still on the air. Both far better and far funnier shows about the movie making business.

Or if the hanjob thing happens, Turtle gets arrested for running prostitutes and Vince gets dragged in because he's an investor and...THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN BECAUSE IT THREATENS TO BE INTERESTING
post #19 of 45
Yeah, every time they threaten to do something interesting, like make Ari head of a studio they chicken out and reset it.

I haven't watched any of these yet, but I hope they don't focus so much on the relationships. Last year was poor. Especially disappointing after season 5, which was a partial return to form.
It's actually worse than just making uninteresting choices, they actually make the most uninteresting choice possible most of the time. Making Ari branch out into sports as part of his "biggest agent in the world" thing isn't just less interesting than actually following through with making him a studio head would have been, it's pretty much--as others have pointed out--a threat to throw Entourage and Arli$$ into a blender. Somehow, I don't think those storylines would have been more interesting if Wuhl's character were even less likable than he was in that series, which seems to be what we'll get with Ari.

If a halfway decent writing team were handling this show--especially since they've taken great pains in the press to draw attention to the fact that Ari is based on a real person--the interesting way to go with this would be showing Ari really, really buy into his "biggest agent in the world" hype and become an even more insufferable, egotistical prick and go home to his family to show off his success only to find out the sister he's constantly calling a cunt and a whore on the show has just been appointed the White House's Chief of Staff. That would actually present the character with an avenue for growth.
Nah, come up with an as-yet-never-mentioned-before brother for Ari played by Bradley Withford and have him become the Chief of Staff character. The meta snake would eat its own eating of itself.
Watched this last night, and the only person I thought who cam off well was Nick Cassevetes. The rest of them came off as completely self absorbed and a little more than creepy.
That episode was rather enjoyable, if just for Ari's smoking hot wife. Take that Sasha Grey. E and Sloane trying anal was worth a laugh as well.
Yeah, first good episode of the season. I guess they were due one.

How is Emmanuelle Chiriqui the only woman on this show who never shows any skin (even during an anal sex scene)?!? My deep disappointment is only diminished by the knowledge that it is actually possible for a 40-year old woman to look like Mrs. Ari. Damn.

Yeah I laughed when Sloan made fun of E for patting her on the head the first time they tried anal.

That said, I'm waiting for Vince to finally break down.

Cannot believe this thing is still on the air.

This needs to be mentioned more. Holy Fuck was Mrs Ari smoking hot in that episode.

I still watch the show but it's really nothing worth talking about.. It's sorta turned into the 2 1/2 men of HBO comedy. The most you can expect is a slightly less cringe induced chuckle with a smidgen of predictable.

That being said, I can't quit this show.
So it looks like Entourage is done after next summer. After this season ends, there will be 6 new episodes in 2011. Theres talk of making a film.

Jebus.

Funny I remember in the previous season thread, I fanwanked about half the ideas they're using on the show. This of course means 1 of 2 things: the show is predictable, or the producers read CHUD for ideas.

So, I caught the last 2-3 minutes of tonight's episode after skipping all of the episodes after the premiere.

Did they really give Vince a drug problem? I think the only Hollywood cliche they have left is for them to reveal that Vince is a vampire.

Was that Princess Leia or Jabba the Hutt?

Vince hasn't had gay sex yet. YET.

Didn't you tell people off for publishing unflattering photos of you last year?

They didn't run unflattering photos. They said I looked like Elton John. Tell them off, no. My point was a) I'm 53, and b) [I look like that] because I take medication. This is the worst thing about being bipolar. It makes you feel better, but then you look like s**t, so whatever you've gained in terms of feeling better you've lost because you look like s**t and in a world where appearance is huge. So I said, I did not realize that I had signed an invisible contract when I wore the metal bikini stating that I would stay looking the exact same way for the rest of my life. I wore the metal bikini 30 years ago, and now I am killing myself to try to get my body back, but between age and medications it's an uphill battle.

Wouldn't happen because that would bum out the frat-bro demographic.

He could join a cult or an alternative to a religion group? Have sex with a minor and flee the country*? Start his own religion? Flip out on set at a crew member for not being professional?

*I think there was a scene back in the day when Drama hit on a young girl only to have her dad get in the way. Could of gone down that road.
Drama: Yo bro
Vince: Heeey Johnny, where you at?
Drama: (long pause) Cambodia bro
Turtle: (looks up from his bong) What the fuck is he doing in Cambodia?
Vince: (to Turtle) I heard they got good weed there. (back to Drama) Heeey Johnny, they got good weed there?
Drama: Naw bro, the weed here is old and (exhales a puff) uneventful
Turtle: Oh so like your career!

So I need to fanwank, because this episode really has the basis of where the show should go from here.

Johnny Drama - Really should grow up and settle down with the British secretary. It would pull him further away from Vince. She seemed nice (I got a thing for accents, sue me), and I'd like to see Drama midway through next season ready to settle down with her.

E - I like how he has evolved slowly from a side manager to someone who can take charge. He also seems to be able to balance his personal life with Sloan, so I'd like him to take over for...

Ari - I hate watching Ari so emasculated. That said, I'd hate to see him lose his family just because he can't communicate with his stuck up wife. I'd like to see him take some time off from work and spend it on repairing his personal life. E could get an offer from Terrance to temporary take over in his place, but Ari gets his priorities straight. Have him return back to his ruthless attitude, but he can turn it off and return to his family.

Vince - With everyone having their own issues, I'd like to him downward spiral even more. Season finale needs to have him make a serious pass at Sloan, and piss off E all the way through next season. Next season, pull a page from Heath Ledger, but don't kill him. Have the movie be about him trying to get his friends back.

Turtle - After making some Mexican enemies, have him get into the tequila business, but this guy needs a bullet in him. It could be the event that brings the entourage back together for the movie.

Next season: Jump forward in time, E and Sloan should be married, and Johnny and his girl should be thinking the same, and his cartoon should take off. Vince needs to be down. E is making strides at the agency, still hates Vince for what he tried with Sloan (Vince doesn't get invited to the wedding). Johnny is actually happy, and he needs to be the one who confronts Vince and be a big brother and get him some help. Vince pushes him away, but the season ends Turtle in the hospital.

The movie: Vince's redemption, have him realize what a douche he is as he works to get his friends back together.

The show did something it hasn't done in a long time, bring back some edge. Seeing Vince actually doing the drugs and his face all bloody at the end was great for a change of pace. Nothing really got resolved and tied up for once.

I'll be the first to admit it. I enjoyed this season of Entourage.

And it was the first time since maybe season 2 or 3 where Piven did surprising, Emmy-worthy work.

I really want a scene where Piven and Caan scream at each other though.
This year wasn't half-bad. If you take away the Turtle subplot it was a great season of television and the finale might have been the strongest ever for the show.
Okay, so I just saw the bulk of this season (about 6 or 7eps to the finale), and I have a question: Didn't this show used to be a comedy? I skipped around and then just stopped watching completely after the Canne debacle, so I've been out of the loop, but Christ, this show got stuck in the shitter.
