Louie on FX

The show premieres tomorrow on FX. I really liked the teaser and what I saw on The Daily Show.

However, I've googled this and couldn't find any info: does any one know if tis will air in Canada?
Really looking forward to this tonight. No buzz among the CHUD brethren?
There's at least one main page article from the last 24 hours.
Yeah, i've come to the conclusion that MANY chewers don't even read the main page.

I agree, but at the same time I wonder how much of this behavior could be *cringes at bringing this up* attributed to the whole virus ordeal way back when.
Or that CHUD generates so many articles (good) that they get pushed off the main page way too fast (bad). That said, even I saw the article for this show up there.

Folks could subscribe to our Twitter feed. Or RSS. Or read the main site.

Looking forward to this (great interview, Nick), but I won't be home and I don't have a DVR. Somebody check to see if this is going to be on Hulu or FX's site or On Demand later, then come post here and let me know. If it's not, somebody DVR the eps and burn them to disc for me.

Hello?
Even if you're just haunting the boards, you know there's an article about LOUIE on the main page, due to its thread.

To be fair, I access the main page through the boards. And to be extra fair, Jacob is REALLY fucking old.

EDIT: So to answer your question, Jacob, not a ton of buzz about Louie (though the site seems to be behind the show). But YOU'RE fucked! We'll do two pages on you being a bad site visitor before midnight. Buckle up, buttercup.

Hello?
I have the first few. Maybe Friday night we can watch 'em.

CHUD: The site that keeps on giving. Thanks!
Yeah, my cable's out until Thursday so I can't do anything on this one. SAD.
Send me your number. I'll call you while we're watching and relay the show to you line-by-line.

I refuse to join Twitter. I have no idea what RSS is. I do, but like i said there's lots to read! Generally, I do what Phil does and get to links via the threads started for them in the CHUD.com Main Forum.
I read the article/interview Nick put up, thank you very much. I was just surprised no one in here was fucking talking about it.
Well, now we can't decide which thread to post in.

Saw Louis live last year. He's the real deal. I love how nasty he gets about his kids, and I loved his HBO show. I'm in.

Or it could be because I created the thread a day before the article was posted on the main page...

I've been a fan of Louis CK for years. I once saw him at a surprise appearance in LA and I don't think I've laughed so hard in my life. This guy deserves the praise he's getting.

I hope FX handles this well. I don't have cable so I don't know how much they've been pushing the new show but I hope it's gotten substantial advertising.

Very interesting interview. I can't believe how much creative freedom he's got from FX. I really, really want to see this show.
Enjoyed the shit out of the first batch. Can't wait to rewatch with the 'rents.
"Every day I make them die with my car."

First one was pretty good. The stand-up segments trumped the other stuff, but his date running to the helicopter was inspired.
The Pilot was ok, the episode that aired right after should sell ALL.
It did me, I'm sold.
I could have watched another hour of the poker game. So good.

Really, really enjoyed this. The first was good (that helicopter) but the second was damn good.
One of the better impressions of a monkey being fingered I've seen.
I'm out of town on business for the next couple of days so wont get a chance to watch this til I get home. Is this at all comparable to Lucky Louie on HBO? I think I'm one of only a handful who actually watched and liked that show.
I was only able to watch the pilot. It's decent. The Stand up bits save it really. Because the direction and acting of the rest is really bad. Tremendous stand up. I'll catch the second episode tomorrow. Hopefully the other sections improve.

Only 2 episodes in but so far this one suits him better than Lucky Louie did. No wife this time helps a lot.
Series had me at the opening credits.
Poker game sequences were just amazing. More of that, please. Everything else was more than suitably funny.

"New field trip! Everyone gets to ride their own limousine home!"

The pilot is weak. Don't judge the show by it.
I hope this shows up on OnDemand today. Didn't catch it last night.
FX usually delays their OnDemand and Hulu repeats by one week.

Liked the pilot, loved the second episode, even though I despise Nick DePaulo. I'll be tuning in every week.
I love Louie C.K. and catch him every time he's in Boston. Likewise, I loved Lucky Louie and wished that had gotten at least another season. Louie was ok. I agree that the pilot was weak.. or rather, it felt pretty awkward and unsure of itself. The second episode was fucking hysterical. If this series follows in the mold of the second episode, it'll do alright. I'll certainly watch it.

The poker table was awesome, I hope it becomes a regular part of the show.
That was some great television. Kinda surprised that the Pilot only garnered luke-warm reviews here. Maybe you have to be a parent to fully appreciate, but the school/field trip stuff in the Pilot were hilarious.

The poker scenes were awesome, and felt pretty improvised/unscripted. Louie over-explaining the back of the bus stop killed me ("No, wait. I'm not finished").
Outstanding. Next Tuesday can't come soon enough. The perfect showcase for Louis' comedy.

Woot! It's on OnDemand right now. So is Rescue Me. I'm a happy camper.
His date taking off in the helicopter was like a live-action Simpsons gag. So great.

That was a great gag. You saying it was a Simpsons gag made it even better. The real reason I am pausing to write this is the beginning of the second episode. The poker game was just awesome. I can now see where the dramedy of this comedy will come from, and I like it. Back to the show...
loved that poker sequence. at first i was like "this is trying too hard to be natural" then that faggot story comes out of nowhere in a totally organic way. (context is important when reading that sentence) i'm gonna love this one, it would make a great double bill with Always Sunny.
Totally missed this promo/announcement from many months ago.

Incredible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jPZp...eature=related
post #45 of 815
I wasn't a particularly big fan of Lucky Louie but I really enjoyed his new show this week. The helicopter gag was brilliant like others said but that whole bit was hilarious in the most excruciating way possible. Between the naked old lady, the face Louis made every time she looked at him and the big dude pounding on the door talking about having to take a monster shit was all great. But yeah the faggot conversation in episode two was brilliant. I was half expecting it to lead to his bit about the difference between being gay and being a faggot later in the episode.
The helicopter bit was the only big misfire, for me. The joke just didn't land.

Second episode, on the other hand, was pure gold. Kept hoping the gay guy would punch Nick DePaolo in the face, though.

That's the video he was referring to in the interview Nick posted, where the S&P person at FX said her only problem with it was the "tonnage."
I'll admit to not being all that familiar with Louis C.K. (I pretty much know him as Leslie's one-time boyfriend on "Parks and Rec"), but, boy, I think I fell in love with this show fast. Such an awesome mix of pathos, drama, awkwardness and hilarity. For what it's worth, however, I preferred the first episode. The school bus driver. The escape helicopter. Both killed me.
The poker scene in the second episode is better than anything that happened ever. That speech was tremendous.
