Louie on FX - Page 3

Speaking of tinge of the absurd: the three taxi cabs racing towards him at the same time had me dying.
This show is too damned short. I want more.

Haven't had a chance to catch the episode from last night, but I've got a question about the previous one with the play date.

For some reason, my DVR flipped out for a few seconds when Pamela was waking up. It seemed like the recording skipped an interaction with Louie between the time she woke up and she started frantically collecting her things to escape. I have a feeling that I missed something incredibly uncomfortable...

I think she was embarrassed that she passed out drunk at a strangers house, nothing more.

I am going to be REALLY pissed if this gets cancelled after one season while that abomination known as The League is coming back this fall.

Didn't really miss anything then, I guess. Thanks. The scene hopped from her just waking up to her standing and flustered, so I was left wondering...but the reaction makes sense on its own as well.

I'm loving how the broader comedy of the earlier scenes is balanced with this great, vulnerable interpersonal stuff.

Her son basically called her a drunk in front of Louie, saying "She always passes out after drinking too much wine." The son shakes her awake, after which she got embarrassed and took off.

I had heard of Louis CK before the FX show but ashamed to say I never looked his stuff up... But now I really, really get what all the fuss is about. The material, the dark places he goes to, the charisma, the expressions/reactions. He's just brilliant.

i agree ... we need hourlong episodes.... goes by in a flash.

i hope it retools that aspect for the next season, but only if Louie is on board.

And this episode had me laughing pretty hard; the cabbies fighting, the check-in couple, the near crash and jump cut to deplaning, the cop and louie having no good reason not to, and the ending bit with louie saying use your real eyes, not your crazy ones.

really enjoy this show.

He's the best working stand up at the moment. It can't be overstressed how good he is up there.
This was probably the funniest episode yet.
All the travel stuff was incredible. And the sheriff sold the shit out of that bit.
This seriously felt ten minutes long to me. I actually did a double take when it ended.

And people who aren't following Louis CK's stand up are seriously missing out.
Bought tickets to see him in December because of this show. Last night's episode just sealed that shit. Everything about flying. Everything and lube.
Wow, just Wow. I can't believe how good this show is. Tuesday night's episode kinda floored me. On one level, there was this very broad, almost-Simpsons vein of humor running through it (the whole airplane debacle), while there was this very dark, morose element of pathos running on another level (the pathetic sister at the diner, the lube exchange, etc.). And, as much as it shouldn't work, it winds up being absolutely perfect instead.

The "Just would like a kiss is all" line is a perfect example: it's silly and hilarious, but simultaneously sort of scary (the cop with the gun is asking you to kiss him) and very sad (the cop is clearly very, very lonely).
That cop actor was great. Love how after Louis exits the car, the cop composes himself and checks the rearview to see if stalker brother guy is still passed out- clearly hoping he didn't see anything.

Question for anyone more familiar with Louis CK's stand-up comedy: is there evidence of him being a bit of a movie geek? (I notice in the CHUD interview he namedrops a bunch of cool David Patrick Kelly movies, also in a bit I saw when he was out promoting the show a few weeks ago he referenced Kubrick) And if so, could this guy get any more perfect?
Totally dug this episode. Traveling nightmares I can relate to. I seriously had that conversation at the airline check-in where they told me that I couldn't get on a flight they just booked me on.

The thing I have been totally digging about Louie's stand up is his train of thought. I love how he'll start telling one story and then get sidetracked, usually about something really juvenile (e.g., mom's vagina).

This is not absurd! It really happens!
I liked the traveling episode too. I loved how neither Louie or the big dude made any mention of the space they were given and were chatting nicely after the flight.

This show goes by way too fast.

Ha! Ha! That was great*. This was a related video from I don't know when, but Louie actually looks pretty hot. Youth and hair can do that. :P

*The airplane link.
That was the funniest damn opening I've ever seen.

Your father's dead.

"Your father's dead" *pointsfinger*.
Ugch, your father's dead.
I ate half of it...
I love the bit at the end. It makes up for you laughing at the meanness of the opening.

Finally a release date for Hilarious.

Fans of C.K awesomeness: the stand-up’s performance film hilarious Hilarious debuts on Video on Demand and online at www.epixhd.com on September 18th and will air on Comedy Central and be released on DVD next year. I saw it at Sundance and can vouch that it lives up to its subtitle

"You don't like rape?"

"YOU'RE DOING IIIIIIITT!!!!
His exasperated "He's dead!" was easily the best take.
That was a terrific episode. The payoff for the heckler abuse was great: "Yeah, you could be having a drink together right now, and she'd probably pay for it.".

Although I knew he'd be mistaken for a real cop the moment Broderick told him to go for a walk, I wasn't expecting half a gun.
The best part was the heckler abuse. He was on fire.
All the agent part of the show was weak. But the final scene with the fake guns was great.
Another great episode. Third, most casual delivery of "Oh, your father's dead" was best. Christ, he's funny even when he's just wasting time (the cat stuff).
No love for Broderick?

"How about you just take a walk, and see if you can find it in yourself to give a shit?"
Broderick was great, loved everything from him post Louie's "So, am I one of... The Jews?"
This is the funniest show I have seen in years. The road trip episode is one of my favorite episodes of any show EVER. DO NOT CANCEL.
Best opening ever! Loved the whole ep, but Louie just going on and on and on about that woman and her cunt mom was amazing. Then he had to add the AIDs bit. I gotta say the whole thing was made even sweeter because I was really enjoying his joke about his stomach signals taking detours on the way to brain. Loved the cat face montage, as well as the numerous takes of "Your father's dead." This show is truly something else.
When you were born, some guy walked by and said "Look, a cunt coming out of a cunt's cunt."

The cat thing was weird for me, because just before the show got back from commercial I was having a "meow" war with the youngest of my cats.
"You don't like rape? You don't? That's really weird because you know you wouldn't exist if your mom didn't rape that homeless Chinese guy."

"You know who I'd like to sue? Everybody who works at the hospital that you were born at... Because I would like to sue them for not responsibly pulling your head off the second... Letting you live was medical malpractice."

"You're the worst thing that ever happened to America. It goes you, slavery, and then Pearl Harbor/911 combined. As an American I feel like its my duty to make you feel poorly. And your mother's a whore."

So fucking funny. I guess I really dig when Louie turns his anger on others instead of his usual self-loathing stuff.

Also, the part where Louie makes the receptionist cry is straight out of Larry David's play book. That sort of humor where they are just being jaded, cynical assholes and not realizing how their comments are hurting the other person just works for me. I wonder what that says about myself.
Can anyone clarify exactly what Louie said when he really started going off on the Fox News Anchor (you just know the other comedians were thinking 'hatefuck')? It had something to do with parades or something. Somehow it led to her responding with, "That's offensive because you're joking about rape!" I have no idea how what Louie said referred to rape.
I never heard him say anything about rape, either. I thought he asked her what happened to the parade of shit that was going on in her head. Wasn't paying close enough attention, I guess.
It was something like...

"The parade of stupid BEEEEEP you were floating." Shit makes sense. But they don't bleep out shit on FX. The armed robbers at the end of the episode say it. Maybe they have a shit quota?

About Matthew Broderick... Love the way he just mutters "Comedians..." straight to Louie's face and just lets it sit there as he looks at him.

LOUIE “Heckler/Cop Movie” Review

Quote:
So you might ask why this hits home with me? Well, sometime last year I was the young blonde girl who made it my business to comment on Louis C.K.’s standup routine. And while I can only imagine he’s dealt with a few hecklers in his time, there were a few moments from last night’s episode which were literally word for word our conversation, specifically calling him out on making fun of rape. And we also had our heated conversation right in front of Todd Barry. So maybe when I wrote of closure on my blog last year, somehow Louis C.K. was thinking of a way to get his – or he just thought it would make a great story for his show.

It was bleeped? Oh. That would make sense, then. I know AMC has a limit of 4 shits per episode, according to Frank Darabont.
Oh... 4 shits? I didn't count the shits, but that does make sense.

Maybe the heckler was referring to rape jokes that Louie was making in stand-up material that was cut out of the show. I'm deconstructing this episode as if it were Inception!!!

I wanted to add... I found both Louie's agent's receptionist the heckler really cute (more for when she was laughing during the outakes at the end). Hahaha.

From the closed captioning:

Quote:
Can I ask you a question? What happened to the parade?

What parade?

The parade of stupid (bleep) you were a float in. I'm just curious.

Ok, that's not even funny.

It's not? All right.

No, you're offensive.

I'm offensive? What do you mean?

You're making jokes about rape and that's offensive.
Then he goes into the rape quote I posted above. It's a weird edit because he definitely didn't say anything about rape before she accused him.
Yeah. The editing has been weird the whole series thus far, though. I mean, he's reused bits several times (that comes from the show being based on a stand-up comedian, of course). He's the editor though, so everything you see he wants you to see, and thank God for that.
The only time I recall recycled jokes is in the episode where he gets in a fight with the other comedian. But he doesn't do the whole bit. It's just there to show that he's doing his regular routine. And then it segue's into DiPaolo's routine.
"Look, can you do me a favor?"

"(sigh)... What?"

"Can you please... just die of AIDS? (to audience) Does anybody have AIDS? Who could put their dick in her face and get her started on that?"

Did anyone else IMMEDIATELY think of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang when Louie told the heckler that it was his duty to make her feel poorly?

Could easily have been 'cunts' again.

YES!

And Diva, you're right. It was def. just that one episode, and was clearly to imply he was just doing his regular old thing.
