I love these sort of lists. DarkWeb has a nice, long one. Admittedly, I haven't seen most of these movies. Quite a lot of old, classic ones in their list.

Here's their top 10:
10. Night of the Hunter (1955)
9. Rosemary's Baby (1968)
8. An American Werewolf in London (1982)
7. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1932)
6. Dracula (1958)
5. Halloween (1978)
4. The Haunting (1963)
3. The Exorcist (1973)
2. Pyscho (1960)
1. The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

Another list from Reel.com. This one is less focused on representing the "classics," and has more recent, hard-hitting films.

Their top ten:
10. The Tenant (1976)
9. The Evil Dead (1982)
8. The Hitcher (1986)
7. The Exorcist (1973)
6. The Hill Have Eyes (1977)
5. Alien (1979)
4. Halloween (1978)
3. Suspiria (1977)
2. Rosemary's Baby (1968)
1. Don't Look Now (1973)

Both of those lists have some movies that belong but no The Thing, Jaws, The Shining. That's not right.

This might be my top 10......

1. Kubricks' The Shining
2. The Thing
3. Jaws
4. Alien
5. Suspiria
6. Night of the Living Dead
7. The Exorcist
8. Near Dark
9. Audition
10. TCM

That isn't easy.
