I was completely expecting the serum to turn out to be "fake-your-death-din" and the body would be missing from the morgue.
The worst part is, the first 30-40 minutes were suitably creepy. He's a professor? How Moriarty-ish. The family home turned dungeon? Creepy. Alicia Silverstone clone did a good bit of post-traumatic stress disorder acting. And then, Shawn enters the house, and it all goes off the rails.
Still, a very good season, and I'll stay tuned. It almost feels like the writers knew the storyline was going to a dark place, and they cut it short and lightened it all at once, as it wouldn't have fit with the tone of the show.

Honestly I agree here, but it feels like the whole 3rd act was rushed because they only had Weller for a few hours but really wanted to work with him. I'm willing to bet that Roday's original script plays a little differently than what we got here.
What I did love was Ally Sheedy though. Yeah she looks like a rough Sigourney Weaver now, but she's clearly having a blast. Not every guest star on the show works, or seems that interested, but Sheedy was into it. That also applies for Sherylin Fenn, who I thought worked so well in her brief appearance that it's a shame they can't work her back into the show somehow.
