Psych Season 5 - Page 3

Man, Macchio looked good for his age. He's 49. He looks like he could do another Karate Kid movie. Clean living, I guess.

One thing though, Shawn is becoming too much of a dick for me. It's kinda annoying. He felt much less so in the earlier seasons.

As for Dual Spires, I find it hilarious that there's enough information on the Internet about Shawn and Gus for someone to know that an article about a cinammon festival is enough to get them to visit.

Macchio read my review of the episode and retweeted it to his Twitter followers. I can die happy knowing I got a fucking RT by the goddamn Karate Kid. Which is sad in a geeky way, but hey.

I've felt Shawn has been a dick for a while. Not every episode, some of the writers can tone it down better than others.

The "man in the mirror" bit slayed me when I saw the preview, and did it again when I saw it in context. Good stuff.

April Bowlby still makes my special parts tingly. Wasn't that Michael Gross as the Animal Control guy? Pretty sure it was, but IMDB doesn't have it listed and I forgot to look at the credits.

Dr. Murder can you post the link to your review? thanks!

I've been doing them since 5.10. I'm a newb to reviewing. Maybe in 10 years I'll be as awesome as our own Jesse Custer or Patrick Ripolli.

The fact that the Polarizing Express seemed like a love letter to Tony Cox just blows my mind how cool it was. That and Gus's UPN 90's sitcom play was AWESOME.

"this isn't about me and what roles I should have gotten over Dinklage"

Awesome...

That one and Gus's "Sookay" response to "It was a countdown to the season premier of True Blood"

pretty good ending to the yin and yang arc, except I'm suspecting we will see Mena Suvari again to put into motion Yin's special plans for Shawn that we never heard about.

My dvr cut out at the very end though, what happened after Lassiter saw Shawn kiss Jules?
He was stunned and wide-eyed and slowly made his way out of the room while scratching the back of his neck with an empty coffee mug. Shawn didn't see him or anything.

Despite it's faults, I love me some Psych. The Dinklage and Bolo Young lines from this year were awesome. The resolution of the Yin/Yang storyline ...... not so much. So much build-up, and Yin's on screen for maybe two minutes total? Not even a Robocop reference? I was completely expecting the serum to turn out to be "fake-your-death-din" and the body would be missing from the morgue.

The worst part is, the first 30-40 minutes were suitably creepy. He's a professor? How Moriarty-ish. The family home turned dungeon? Creepy. Alicia Silverstone clone did a good bit of post-traumatic stress disorder acting. And then, Shawn enters the house, and it all goes off the rails.

Still, a very good season, and I'll stay tuned. It almost feels like the writers knew the storyline was going to a dark place, and they cut it short and lightened it all at once, as it wouldn't have fit with the tone of the show.

**Gus's stare-off with the lemur had me rolling in laughter. And I almost never laugh out loud. "What is that thing on your shoulder?" *DEATH STARE CONTINUES*

Were they trying to be meta with history professor reveal? I made that connection. I just thought the resolution might have been bigger (like as mentioned on this thread-the coroner)
The coroner seemed like a potential reveal. I even briefly thought that Jimmi Simpson's character might have faked his death and turned out to be Yin. Nothing wrong with Weller, but he didn't have enough screen time to leave a big impression. I do hope that this is the end of the Yin and Yang stuff.

I was convinced when they brought in Nestor Carbonell that he was going to end up being Yin. Seller did great with what he had to work with but they definitely seemed to be pulling a punch at the end.

No way Yin and Yang are done. We still got a Yang, and now a new Yin, altho the original Yin was misused I think. Yang only saved Shawn because she's obssessed with him, and didn't want him to die. I wouldn't be surprised to see Yin and Yang team up in the future to mess with Shawn again.

Honestly I agree here, but it feels like the whole 3rd act was rushed because they only had Weller for a few hours but really wanted to work with him. I'm willing to bet that Roday's original script plays a little differently than what we got here.

What I did love was Ally Sheedy though. Yeah she looks like a rough Sigourney Weaver now, but she's clearly having a blast. Not every guest star on the show works, or seems that interested, but Sheedy was into it. That also applies for Sherylin Fenn, who I thought worked so well in her brief appearance that it's a shame they can't work her back into the show somehow.

Yeah the ending to the Yin/Yang felt rushed. I'm sure Suvari will be back (her crazy eyes were awesome) but the way they wrapped this one up just seemed off.
