There are a ton of them. Dynamite must think the new movie is going to be a CASH COW, because they've launched at least 6 different Hornet books. I've read three of them and they're not bad. I'd rank them like this:
1.) GREEN HORNET YEAR ONE: Written by Matt Wagner, this series stars the original Hornet team of Britt Reid and Kato. It takes place in the late 20s/late 30s. So far the book has mixed early Green Hornet missions with Young Reid/Young Kato flashbacks. The artwork is solid and the coloring makes it look unique.
2.) KATO ORIGINS: So far this series is jam packed with racism against Asians and card game references. There's a lot of anger in this series and that surprised me. He might act all calm and cool when he's beating people up, but Kato is RAGING inside!
An excerpt:
"Today it took all the ninja training I could muster to keep from beating an elderly white woman who cut the line in front of me and called me a 'slant'. It took minimal eavesdropping, she was shouting after all, to get her name and address. I drove the Black Beauty through her Hydrangeas the next night."
3.) KEVIN SMITH'S GREEN HORNET: It has a decent sense of humor, but so far the main character's annoying. He's a 20-something rich brat who becomes the Hornet because he feels guilty about treating his father like shit. The main villain appears to be a video game designer with Yakuza ties. The Katos (the original Kato and his daughter) seem cool.
