Twilight Vs. Harry Potter

I guess it's less funny, than true. Still thought I'd share.

It certainly reflects the feelings of both parties on their respective franchises and fans.
Also, who sleeps better at night too.

It certainly does, I already didn't like twilight because it's just a VERY mediocre story in general, but knowing that the actors in it barely seem to give a fuck that they're doing it just kind of shows you how much of a bull shit money grab the entire Twilight series is.
Even my friend, who is practically obsessed with all this preteen crap (she's 21 by the way) admitted that the writing wasn't that great, but she still likes the story anyways, and goes fucking bonkers for that shit.
It's just kind of a whole "Well if you all realize deep down that it's bullshit, WHYCOME YOU FUCKIN DO IT?"
It makes me weep for the sake of good, worthy art.

Some of the Harry Potter books aren't particulerly well written either but, J.K. Rowlings' ideas are interesting and inspired enough to be translated to film. Rowlings loves her characters, and there's believable tenderness between all of them. Twilight was written with a film adaptation and profit-seizing measures in mind.

I'm glad this came up. Source material aside, there is a passion and love that goes into the Potter films that Twilight is just devoid of. Compare the Deathly Hallows trailer with any of the Twilight trailers. The Potter franchise has been crafted carefully and professionally. The Twilight Saga has been cobbled together and thrown at us.

I don't think Twilight was written with a film adaptation in mind. From what I've heard, the lady really believes she made a great story with amazing characters.

Also, she's honestly never heard of Anne Rice or Poppy Z Brite.

Twilight it what it is, but I don't think there's a sinister masterplan behind the books to become this all powerful tween money making franchise (sinister perhaps in the values they preach, but that's a different issue). The books themselves are almost idenical in plot to several other Urban Fantasy series that came before, that never made it to the film , let alone to the degree these films have hit.

Potter on the other hand wears it;s influence proudly on Rowling's sleeve (Speilberg and Gaiman being the most obvious). Which may explain why it's much more fun, and more fun to film.

Possibly not. It would no differnet to a guiatrist in some 2nd rate Nu Metal band having never heard a Faith No More album. I imagine Buffy was more the inspiration to Twilight than Rice or Britte.

Yeah, except Buffy was well written.
