I'm sickened and horrified. I met his kids, I knew Robert and his wife for most of the past decade. I know that this is going to get brought up on the boards anyway, so I thought I would get this out of the way. This is probably going to be my only comment on this story.

Damn. What's worse is now with the "information age" barreling ahead, we hear so much of this sort of shit that it barely registers as a shock anymore unless you know the guy personally.

So sad, though. I guess at least he's not a big enough personality/celebrity to where his stepdaughter would be haunted with this all her life (well, press wise anyway. Obviously this is going to stick around forever in her mind).

Even if she isn't on the stand, the spectacle of a trial would be horrible. This girl has had a lot of problems in her life - and now it seems obvious where they come from - and she doesn't need any more trauma.

He's a raging conservative. I unfollowed him on Twitter around mid-2009 because he was insufferable during the 2008 election and even worse during the administration's first year. I thought he was Snaieke, even! Every tweet just pissed me off, so I deleted him. It wasn't worth reading that bullshit every day just so I can be on top of every new big scoop that popped up biweekly or so.

I was just going to post this very thing. Unfollowed him a while back.

What a horrible situation. I hope for the best for that poor girl. And death by dicks with needles in them for Sanchez.

I think this just proves an adage: You never really know anybody or what they are capable of. Never really read his stuff and was only peripherally aware of his site but fuck..drugging and raping a 14 year old girl, videoing it and then uploading for other sick fuckers to get their jollies off?

And people wonder why I've become even more cynical and jaded the last couple of years.

Not on a biological level, but if he's raised her for a long time, it wouldn't be a stretch to consider it. My dad's been with my mom since she was pregnant with me, so he's not my BIOLOGICAL father, but he's certainly my father.

Jesus christ.... I don't even have any comment for this, so I don't know why I'm commenting, but this is beyond terrible and sort of makes you reconsider what you assume to be the "safe" corners of the internet.

EDIT: There is NO mention of this on the IESB site (which I just went to today for the first time), are they trying to sweep this under the rug?

I feel so bad for this kid. What she's gone through is bad enough, but to have all of this out on the internet is so much worse.

Even leaving the video out of this, there are going to be so many comments and posts out there about this for that poor child to look at. It's all so public when it should be anything but public.

Before people posts anything on this, they really should think about that. Jokes and scoring points of this are both so inappropriate.

I can't speak with any position of authority, but since this story just broke and the guy's been missing for a while, it seems like he turned the reigns over to someone else at the site. There's probably somebody running the day-to-day, and they're waiting to see how it develops before making an official statement. Again, I speak with no position of authority on any of this.

Devin, People have known about this for a while, I heard about it before this all broke through friends of friends of Rob. Why/How did this story break? I thought this was all going to be kept quiet until further notice.

I really hate the Internet sometimes and this is only going to hurt those involved more. Whoever broke this seems to my cynical head, to be hit-whoring over the twitter confusion. I really hope that isn't the case though.

Also, anyone making jokes about this, get fucked.

I haven't read one "joke" about this. I read one sarcastic comment pointing out a potential hypocrisy between outrage over the poor girl's trauma and seeming dismissal of the trauma to the woman in the Polanski case.

Christ, do I have to be the one to say this?

With the Polanski case, people were upset by the case and not wanting it to go any further because the girl involved, now grown up, did not want the history being brought up and unbalancing her new family life. SHE did not want it to go further. The damage had been done, he had gotten away with it. It was also over 30 years ago.

This is recent, the girl is very much still a girl and the family must be suffering the worst kind of personal hell on every level right now. People on here and in the film and blog world, know/knew/had connections to parties involved.

They are two totally different things, trying to tie them together (Outside of the hypocritical and unpleasent 'tweet' that Devin linked) is shameful and disrespectful to everyone who is suffering from this.

I literally cannot believe that I have to type this, you would think common sense and human decency would prevail. Its not like there isn't ENOUGH gossip on the Internet for people to talk about.

I haven't gossiped, I've discussed, I haven't made any jokes at the expense of anyone, nor supported it.

No one has made a joke. I don't think anyone wishes anything but the best for that girl. If you wanted people to be respectful, you'd want people to stop discussing the story altogether (why Devin wanted to simply post the story and move on).

Of course, you are the one who asked Devin how the story leaked which is as gossipy as it gets.
