Honestly, I'd rather believe him than think otherwise. Still don't like the guy, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until something substantial comes along, if it does.

He sounds like an immature idiot with severe parenting issues, but at the same time if what he's saying is accurate I can't help but have some sympathy for the guy. Note that that's a BIG "if", but being a classless dickhead shouldn't be punishable by child rape allegations.

So yeah, I'm kind of with Nordling.

The fact that any of you could read that and have ANY sympathy for him kind of sickens me.

Let's pretend for a moment that he's been falsely accused. You know, like the time he was falsely accused and convicted for assault in Florida. You know, like all the other things that happened to him that aren't his fault. You know, because a picture of a teen girl with a hickey means something.

So we're assuming that, right? What's he do when he's falsely accused? He writes a blog post calling a 14 year old girl a whore and a bitch. In the post he explains the mental illness he thinks she has and then goes on to call her a whore and a bitch.

A good man would write that and simply say 'This young girl has many problems. Her mother and I tried for years to help her, but nothing we did made it better. In fact, it got worse, and has now led to these unfortunate accusations. I hope that she gets the help she needs and I look forward to being vindicated as innocent when it's all said and done.'

Of course the question remains - where did he go? Why did he disappear?

It's nothing like sympathy. He's a douche, I've always thought so even before all this. Dropped him from my Twitter feed months ago. I'm just not sure he's a rapist. It's not for me to decide that. I don't know enough of his past to make any kind of judgment call, and I had no idea he was convicted of assault in Florida, so yeah that changes things.

Is he a rapist? Not sure. Is he an asshole? 100% Grade A. And it was a spectacularly stupid move for him to post this online.

I don't think anyone's called him a good man, and if he's as innocent as he claims he's pretty much handled it the worst possible way imaginable. Plus, given his issues, I don't think he should be responsible for minors - in the very best case scenario he's still a fucking useless and potentially harmful guardian. Sympathy was probably the wrong word to use here. Child rape is just the worst kind of accusation to sling at someone, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody aside from those who are actually guilty of it. BUT, given your proximity to the case and knowledge of those involved, I would defer to your better judgement about the guy.

I just don't understand how a blog post calling a 14 year old a crazy slut makes you say 'Hey, maybe he WAS falsely accused.'

Here's how this should work: the victim gets the benefit of the doubt every single time. All the way to the end.

Hell no. Even if half of the things he's saying are true, airing a fifteen year old girl's dirty laundry, and an emotionally troubled one too, on the internet is fucking horrible. Decent people don't do stuff like that. Ever. Guilty or not he's not deserving of any sympathy.

I do have sympathy for her, and I'll back out as I don't know enough of the situation. It's pretty shitty of him to blurt all this out over the internet, that's for sure. I wonder if any libel charges could be brought his way by the girl in question in the future.

Last night someone managed to post a comment on the post calling him out for calling her a slut and all that, but it seems he deleted it and took away the option of leaving comments. Ha!

ETA: Wherever he is, he still has access to the hickey pics he took. Is he carrying around his digicam and an USB cable, or does he have them saved on his laptop desktop? Creepy either way.

All pretty fair points, but I don't think anyone is calling him a class act or great step dad or even a decent person. There is sympathy to be had for completely selfish assholes... who have been falsely accused of raping a 15 year old girl. Assholes are innocent until proven guilty too, he's not up against the charge of being a dickhead after all.

All of that obviously flies right out the window when it's shown he did these things that he's been accused of doing.

How can one read that post and get the "let's give him the benefit of the doubt" thought? It's like out of a Lost Highway novelization.

I mean, his story includes just about everything you need to cover up the original accusation. Bipolar disorder? Of course the alleged victim would make up this shit. And also be a slut. And put him in a situation where he has to take off her shirt and photograph her, for her safety.

If we learnt anything from this, its that Disney's TRON: Legacy marketing was so persuasive that it lured a sex offender out of hiding, despite bad word. Not sure if they should be proud of that or not.
