I was just going to post this. What is wrong with this guy? I liked it better when I didn't know jack shit about the personal lives of my favorite movie stars. Mel is a complete wack job
post #3 of 651
I guess Danny Glover is "one of the good ones".
It was nice knowing you, Mel.
Lethal Weapon 2 now is confusing as fuck to me.

Somewhere in the world right now, Michael Richards is weeping tears of joy. "Now they'll forget about me..."
If Tom Cruise is depressed over the performance of Knight & Day and the state of his career and public image, he should take solace in the knowledge that his public image is nowhere near as fucked as Gibson's.
I want to know what he said about Timothy Dalton.

I wish this exact sequence of events actually happened.

Oh, irony!
If he was trying to one-up Bale's recorded rant, somebody tell him he overshot.
More like a rimshot, if the transcripts are to be believed, it's one for the books.
Cue the Polanski derailment....

In all seriousness this does kind of raise some interesting questions. I guess you could say Gibson's acting career had cooled already before his issues in 2006. Obviously Passion made a ton of money, but that was something of a aberration. But this doesn't bode well for his future studio work.
It's good to know he's not just anti-semitic. He hates all races and religions that aren't his own equally.

That DiCaprio viking movie probably just got hit by a truck. A racist truck.

I remember when I was a kid we all rolled our eyes when grandma bought The National Enquirer. It was embarrassing. Now we got allegedly intelligent geeks taking RadarOnline dirt as gospel? Shouldn't we save this shit for the fat house wives?
I'm starting to suspect that the SOUTH PARK version of Mel may be less crazy than the real-life version of Mel. Matt and Trey are going to have a field day with this.

I wanna invite him around to my house, no expense spared, give him a glass of good ol' Jackie D's and just let him run his mouth wild... dude would be a riot at the family BBQ...

$50 says Sam Worthington goes the same rote in 5, 10 years tops.... Australians are nut cases on the booze.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

I guess we should all thank him for inadvertently informing us that he'll never helm a feel good film about the civil rights movement down here in the south.

The more you know....

Very nice.

The Enquirer broke the John Edwards affair story. I wouldn't discount the source just yet.

I found it humorous that Gibson was visibly irritated at all the questions regarding his remarks in 2006 at the EDGE OF DARKNESS junket. He was surprised that people haven't moved on from that. Apparently he hasn't either.

It's the internet Elvis, ANYTHING GOES!

I wonder if Gibson is heading back to rehab.
It's not really hard to imagine Mel Gibson standing with a can of gas in one had, a lit torch in the other, while getting blown by a 40-year-old mother of two.

It's really not.

You have some valid points there.

But... it's pretty hard to run exact quotes like that if they're not accurate. That will get you sued fast, no?
A pack!!

Am I misremembering, or does someone on CHUD have a horrible/hysterical personal story involving the phrase "pack of niggers"?
Pretty sure that was a Nick story.

I've never really got how you could be raised in a very strict Catholic household and turn out conservative--Ebert has a good recent blog on this--or even prejudiced. How you can be so extremely Catholic that you leave the church over the issue of the Tridentine Mass and be ultra conservative AND anti-semitic AND racist is a little boggling. Hutton Gibson has to be a real gem of a person and parent.

That's a Drew Struzan poster if I ever imagined one.
For a man who directed The Passion... his is woefully misplaced on the regular.
He's an asshole, and this disgusts me. There's a lot of perfectly fine reasons to dislike someone: liking Duke, obnoxious behavior, flippping out over finding porn in a DVD player. The color of someone's skin isn't even on the list. Fuck him.
What sick bastard would like Duke?!

Mel loves himself and loves to talk, and talk, and talk...

I would hope that at some point he would stop talking and start listening. With those ears, he should be doing better in that department.

Well, I first heard this from TMZ, and they excel at breaking stories like this. They broke Mel's last racist/sugartit rant.

Think Jodie will come to his defense this time?

Said black dude just got signed as starting fullback for the Saints (was starting fullback for the Bears for years, including the Super Bowl trip). He's not small.

I believe he has two films completed, waiting for release (one is a comedy directed by Jodie Foster). What the hell are they going to do with them? Direct to video a possibility? If all this is true, there's no way you can justify sinking prints and advertising money into either one of them.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say massive PR blitz to either a) save his reputation or b) use the hype to their advantage. Probably a bit of both.

Quick! Someone doctor this picture with Franklin (from Arrested Development)!

He'll be crying on Jesse Jackson's shoulder by Tuesday.
Maybe he meant "pack of beavers".
She's 40?

Strange that somehow that's the wildest aspect of this story for me. Thanks for posting that awful puppet photo. To paraphrase the Lethal Weapon 2 poster, The Magic Is Over.
Meh, the guy is still a fantastic filmmaker and an entertaining screen presence. Doesn't really phase me at all.

"I am going to come and burn the fucking house down... but you will blow me first."

*wailing sax*

"Look what you did to me... look what you are... look what every part of you is... fucking fake... fucking fake.

A genius line, by the way. If my wife's parents didnt insist on friending me on FB that would be my new status.
That line from Lethal Weapon 2 -"We're back, we're bad, you're black, I'm mad" - now seems stunningly prescient.

Damn, what really hurts is that the Murtaugh family showed Riggs so much hospitality. If memory serves, Riggs was even kissing Murtaugh's daughter on the lips!

Yeah, but that was different...
