...Gallagher is a paranoid, right-wing, watermelon-smashing maniac.

Gallagher appears to be in the closet. So deep he has one foot in Narnia.

God, I thought his Onion interview was creepy...

I noticed that he'll be playing here at some free fair next week. Now I HAVE to go!

No, that's what he wants, crazy rednecks and people enjoying him ironically!!

Jesus Juice-man Christ! He's completely unhinged. The writing's on the watermelon stained wall...

Mel needs to direct - Gallagher: A Sermon of Hate - 3D.

Speaking of watermelon's, given his racist rants, it gives the smashing of them a whole new context, huh?

Most definitely. I was initially going to address that more directly in the 'watermelon stained wall' line, but in light of his blatantly racist views, I felt it was adequately implied already.

That watermelon bit has always been his big finale, almost as if everything that precedes it is mere foreplay to his real agenda. Could be pure coincidence, or by insidious design. I don't think he's that clever, so it must be a happy little racist accident.

Damn, I saw him like 10 years ago and he was FINE. I mean back then saggy pants was a black AND white thing but he didn't have the part with "them" tripping over themselves getting away from the cops. It was a 4 hour show and he smashed the shit out of a ton of stuff. It was a pretty good show. Wtf happened??

I know he had a huge falling out with his family over his brother touring as Gallagher Too. Maybe something snapped inside of him?

You know I can see making excuses for Mel Gibson. The man is a fine filmmaker and a more than fine actor. But making excuses for Gallagher is just a waste of an excuse.

It is kind of strange to see how one black dude getting elected to the top job in the land has driven this country completely off the fucking edge. At least it shows us the '90s malaise about being "at the end of history" really was bullshit. There was a ton of ugly, ugly stuff just under the surface, just waiting to come out.

Nevermind, just looked that up. Weird.

Also, How the hell is this guy popular? He's like some mentally ill childs entertainer having a breakdown.
I just saw this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgzCgc5pKfc The voiceover has a rather nice unaware sarcasm to it.

Why does this thread exist? I mean, at what point did this son of a bitch not seem like a lunatic?

To be fair, it is pretty hard to argue with that logic.

The memories I have of seeing his act on tv when I was young (I'd say as early as twelve) are fairly innocuous. I don't remember anything even approaching what he's doing now. I didn't like him then either, but at least his most egregious offense back then was that he wasn't particularly funny. Now his act is just about as fucking depraved as Glen Beck's.

They're both coming from the same vile place. We're perpetuating the problems these malcontents cause by habitually making excuses for them.

I don't think it's strange, just a depressing inevitability.

What the hell?! "China people" and queers? This is the guy that used to make fun of bumper sticker patriots who pronounced America as "Murrickuh!"? The man who said "military intelligence" is an oxymoron? The populist everyman has lost every shred of gentleness and turned into a raging xenophobe, it seems.

That's a quote from one of my friends. Gallagher was a decent guy once upon a time, and a better comedian than I remembered, which makes what he's become all the more tragic.

Happy fucking fourth.

For the benefit of fellow Chewers and their eyesight, I'm going to warn you about shirtless Gallagher at the :33 mark.

Apparently he's always been an asshole. Stories of him doing "faggots with AIDS" shtick at live shows (away from the cameras) were popping by the early 90s. A gay newspaper once got in touch with his people to clarify the rumors and the publicist responded with "Gallagher hates gay guys for bringing AIDS to the world his children are growing up in."

Are you referring to the same Bill Hicks that compared people who like New Kids on The Block to the Nazis? The Bill Hicks of 'Goatboy' fame? Sounds to me like Hicks and Gallagher were pretty much on the same level, it just that one was left wing, the other right wing.
Good thing I'm already with People Who Hate People.
