Dave Chappelle deemed "safety risk" on private jet

Dave must have smoked the good shit because he tweaked the fuck out and freaked out the pilots causing them to divert the plan and kick Dave off. Dave's rep claimed he was not on drugs; he just needed to use the toilet and the plane bathroom wouldn't do.

So his rep is basically saying in that statement that Dave needed to drop a deuce but couldn't in that toilet. How would the plane toilet not do? I've been on plenty of planes and the toilets are more than adequate. Even funnier, he was on a private jet, for fuck's sake. I'm pretty sure the toilet could withstand a blowout from him.

Whenever I imagined what Dave was doing with his millions of dollars and unlimited free time, I always assumed it was a peaceful kind of life, maybe playing basketball with his kids, maybe playing a little World of Warcraft, maybe hanging out with ?uestlove and shooting the shit, maybe even gardening or some shit.

What was I smoking?

If you're talking about when he quit Comedy Central and went to Africa, you should check out his interview with James Lipton. The man's hardly crazy. A lil' bit eccentric, maybe, but a far, far cry from "crazy".

Plus, he's done awesome stand-up since then too, they just haven't broadcast any. There's loads of fan recordings on YouTube.

Did we watch the same episode of Inside the Actors Studio? The guy seemed to think Martin Lawrence's breakdown was completely understandable and spoke more to the state of the industry than the state of the dude's mind. His statements on weakness were also really weird.

He basically said people underestimate the stress a life like theirs puts on their sanity and mind, and that's why he doesn't flap an eyelid when he reads about stuff like the Martin Lawrence thing.

Like I said, he's at worse a bit eccentric, but I've seen no evidence he's anywhere near off the deep end.

He did a free, unannounced show here in Portland last year. Told a few baristas and let it spread through Twitter, Facebook. Thousands of people showed up.

Plus, hasn't he repeatedly tried to claim the record for longest stand-up performance? I think he keeps getting out down by Dane Cook.

To be honest, I kind of agreed with him when he talked about Martin Lawrence. He said (and I'm totally paraphrasing) that there must be something with the industry if normal folks like Martin Lawrence and others snap and go crazy.

ETA - He sounds just as I'd imagined him to be. A sensitive artist speaking thoughtfully on matters that greatly concern him. It's no mystery as to why he's one of my favorite comedians.

I was thinking this over, and I don't believe the toilet was the problem. Yes, that folding toilet concept is disgusting, but you know what? Devin said that those horrors are found most private planes (he has been on such planes before). Mr Chappelle obviously is no stranger to private jets. I'd imagine that he took them everywhere he went, at least back when he had a TV show. I seriously doubt that he flipped out so badly that he needed to be removed from a plane all because of a toilet system he'd probably used before
