How in Hades did something so damn pretty come out of you filthy reprobates?
I've had this on repeat for days. My favourite tunes from you guys are almost always the harder stuff but this is such a delight I feel like I'll never get tired of it.

It's all we know
Practice all your life
Canvas stretched old and thin
Palette once damp now dry

The Art of Dying

Matted and forgotten
Sun faded and tucked away
Gallery is closing shop
The master's work is done

Steve - Bass/Percussion/Guitar/Backing Vocals

There's no one left to caress my inner child
Constant berating tells me if I'm
Sane or not

I seem to have lost my way
While Night Shadows play

Your laws are fragile when I touch my feet to ground
When I spread my wings
They'll come crashing down

I seem to have lost my way
While Night Shadows play

Forty thousands years have led to this day
The sun still rises, the moon still shines
But Cole has run away

I seem to have lost my way
While Night Shadows play
I seem to have lost my way
While Night Shadows play

Cold Love
Frozen Rains in Drains
It's all about to end

When Ramrod Comes Home
He's making his lunch
It's taking too long
He's starting to seethe
Feeling the urge
He's starting to fold
He's feeling his legs
Walk out the door

Cold Love
Frozen Rains in Drains
It's all about to end

When Ramrod Comes Home
He's checking his mail
It's taking too long
He's needing to vent
Feeling the urge
Eyes starting to glaze
He's feeling his heart
Beat down the door

Cold Love
Frozen Rains in Drains
It's all about to end

When Ramrod Comes Home

You guys have a band that did a concept album about Wings Hauser, the most neglected and underated actor in the history of history, with several songs about Vice Squad, the most neglected masterpiece in the history of history, and this is the first I've heard of it?

Good show, sir. Good show.
I can't begin to express how much I love how well this whole project is coming together, especially in regards to 'Ramrod' and 'Death Street USA'. I simply love every bit of it.

I'm liking it.

In Between and Ramrod are my favourites. I like Watchers III a lot too, especially the brassy stabs.

My two faves too. But you haven't heard Death Street USA.

I've been the worst fan since this is the first I have heard of this also. Be checking it out as soon as I get home today.

I really like The Art of Dying, and wish it was way longer. The chorus-y acoustic reminds me of old Love and Rockets with modern-ish breaks.

Same for Night Shadows, except it sounds like nothing but you. I miss you guys doing longer stuff like "In Plain Sight".

Faves thus far.

Color me surprised that Ramrod wasn't loved by you.

"except it sounds like nothing but you", what does that mean?
Just what it says. It sounds like LN. It doesn't remind me of anyone else like some of your stuff. That's neither bad or good.
'Neither bad or good'? Holy shit, that's horrible!
Hush, you.

What Steve is saying is that we don't ever set out to sound like other people, yet we constantly get pegged as sounding like X or Y.

Most of the bands you mention I've never even listened to.
Knowing your musical tastes to the extent that I do, I'm pretty sure you would never "set out" to sound like early, or even late period, Love and Rockets. That's just what that song reminds me of.

When I say I like a song and that it sounds like nothing but you, I mean it reminds nothing aside from past LN recordings. That's all.

Man alive...if this is the reaction to me talking about the songs that are my faves, I'm frightened to tell you about the ones that aren't.
You should like them all, or you're an asshole.

That's really weird since, with the exception of a couple of moments, you guys have never reminded me of anyone else. I consider that a very good thing, indeed.

Spiky little fella, ain't he? I like 'im. This might have my favourite Nightsticks vocals. The flow from verse to chorus is particularly strong (I'm a sucker for soaring last lines.)

Steve - Drums/Backing Vocals
John - Guitar

It's not enough to know that you love me
Not enough to know I'm in control
We bleed, rub the salt, not our fault, we bleed all
Crime doesn't die though I try
It makes me strong

Look me in the eye
You're just living to die
You're living to die
Step aside
I have life to live

Life is lies and homemade fires
Funerals and cries in the night
It makes me weak
It makes me strong

Boom. Jim.

Look me in the eye
You're just living to die
You're living to die
Step aside
I have life to live

Rein your mind in
spin the ultimate wheel
the sky ain't falling
it's just shrapnel from the war

I have to feed my babies in the middle of night
sometimes it's fresh kills on the side of the road
marauders are hauling ass our way
blazing a trail down DEATH STREET USA

Rein your mind in
spin the ultimate wheel
the sky ain't falling
it's just shrapnel from the war

We live on DEATH STREET USA

We die on DEATH STREET USA

I have hide my babies in the sewer at night
radiation threatens to puncture their heads
when the rain it'll carry the stink
polluting and cleansing DEATH STREET USA

Rein your mind in
spin the ultimate wheel
the sky ain't falling
it's just shrapnel from the war

We live on DEATH STREET USA

We die on DEATH STREET USA

"Living To Die" is absolutely what I expected to hear when I understood the concept of this record. It's a well-produced, unique, just plain cool-as-fuck track that may be the strongest one from this set yet.

"Death Street USA" is a little less impactful, but I love, love, love that mini-bridge where you stretch out "...shrapnel from the waaaaaaaaaar".
I think it's great that you like Living To Die. It's almost another spy song, which I always love doing, but I think the world of Death Street USA.

This album is at the top of my Nightsticks list. This, Laker II and Arbor Day. We are musical brillianteers.

A Lizard like this comes and goes

My favourite part of The Blue Lizard is the way the line "There's no time to understand the golden rule" lifts off at the end.

I love the choruses of Living To Die and the lead gat stuff that follows them and all the shouted backing vocals and the weird flanged keyboard stabs. Actually, everything from the first chorus onward really floats my boat.

Death Street USA is just aces, especially the bang-bang-bang of the chorus.

I like it all, but especially when that muscular main riff kicks in.
Wow...I really and truly loved this track. And since you knew a comparison was coming...it reminds me of early-to-mid-period The Cure.

That chorused, echo-y guitar you got going on, Nick, is soooo very evocative of that period, but the punchy, distorted riff and keyboard blips set it apart.

HAUSER IS DONE
Let me to say that Vice Squad deserves another chance. The new mix fixes the crappy guitar meanderings and allows this song to be what it should have been all along: a keyboard driven 80's action movie main-theme.

This is now a FAVORITE!
Great work, Nick. Love all the mixes.
