So I bought my first iphone game after I finally figured out how to get my account all synced and my software all up to date, and that game was Predators. Given my recent flash of interest in the franchise, I decided to give it a shot. After all, IGN gave it an 8.5

At first, I was disappointed. It seemed extremely simple, like a Lego game. Essentially you're dropped into a small jungle arena, and you're told to go to town and kill the humans walking around. I was worried I was going to delete it after a ten minute play session, but then the game begins to expand.

You only start with your claws and a single button for combat, but that soon expands. You're learning heavy attacks, a second button is introduced for blocks, and then as you pass levels and tutorials you're introduced to more and more toys, such as the combi stick spear, the Plasma Caster, different mask types etc. All of which are upgradable using honour points. You also have toggle abilities such as the cloak and the thermal vision. In fact, there's a net gun and a disc I still haven't unlocked yet. The game becomes extremely fun as you unlock your cool toys one at a time, and use them in specific challenges. You can perform brutal finishers, and you can also rip your enemies head off and collect trophies, all of which work towards some kind of achievement system.

Along with looking at and upgrading your weapons, you can look at your trophies, which includes the generic soldiers you've killed, and a wall full of skulls that correspond to the characters of the film. Every couple of levels you'll have a boss battle, and you'll need to collect the heads of these "bosses".

The game is way more fun than it has any right to be, and it's even more embarrassing when you realize that this game makes you feel like a bad ass predator way more than the last Aliens Vs Predator game could, and all it will cost you is a measly 2.99. If you're at all a fan of the franchise and you want a fun little game to prepare you for the upcoming films release, absolutely give Predators a shot.
