Well, I have nothing to add, just pondering how weird a language English is.
I mean, you give it for granted after a while, but, come to think of it, you guys don't know how a word is pronounced until you hear it!
That's weird, but useful for spelling contests
Are there other languages with this peculiarity?
I don't know any other, but there are so many after all

I pronounce it "do-a-dalb" when I read it but that's just my brain trying to rejigger it into something that's easier to sound out. I too am genuinely interested in learning the origins of his user name

Well, it was irrelevant to my ranting.
Everyone was wondering what the correct pronunciation could be, and that basically happens to people "who think in English".
In most other languages, the written word contains all you need to know for a proper pronunciation (with the possible exception of stresses)

Weird, I read his name as Dudelb every time. I assumed it was some weird shortening of Dude Lebowski that made sense in his head when he probably met with the frustration of having every possible Dude-esque name already claimed on CHUD.

Yeah, but this is the wild frontier of the internet, where names are notororiously misspelled, abbreviated, amended with numbers, and where multiple indecipherable words and letters are mashed up.

If you want other basics I live in Sacramento, have lived in LA and Arizona,and grew up in the SF Bay Area.
I have been married since 1992,with no kids.
I am not sure what Devin wants in the way of information. I am aware that he might be setting me up..you can't hand around CHUD and not see that fights are part of his Shtick.
