Hi Dude, welcome !!!

... For whatever odd reason ( let's not get too deep here, please , over the years females have struck fear into me moreso than males ... Perhaps it is the element of surprise, or the fact that psychological as opposed to physical elements apply, but Betsy Palmer ( FRIDAY THE 13TH ), Juliette Mills ( BEYOND THE DOOR ) Asami ( AUDITION ) and Sadako ( RINGU ) have all stuck with me ...

That's not to say Anthony Perkins didn't scare the crap outta me in PSYCHO 'cause he did ... I usually find the characters with that "hidden side" to be much more frightening ...

Welcome to the boards.

I would have to say the last figure that truly scared me ("last" as in most recent), would have to be Mitsuko, the Sadako-esque dead girl in Hideo Nakata's Dark Water. While the movie's pretty effective overall, I take points away for it being too similar to Ring and add points for that fucking elevator scene.

Scary with a capitol S.

Besides the naked figure of Kathy Bates in About Schmidt..
must burn image from my mind..

It was probably the nurse with that big fucking beheading thing in Exorcist 3. She freaked me out in that scene near the end for whatever reason. I watched it again recently, thats why its a fairly old character.

Actually besides Ringu and repeat viewings of things, thats probably the last movie to scare me too, when it first came on video quite a few years ago.

Welcome to the boards...

While not a figure persee, the puppet in Profondo Rosso managed to creep me out big time, enough for me to actually look away from the film. Watch it alone, in the dark, with headphones on and in front of your computer monitor! wink

Im gonna side with SuperNova here... the "Deep Red" mannequin/doll/thing scared the hell out of me when I first saw that movie. And the damn things still creeps me out.

Oh... and welcome to the boards!

The fella on the front of the Kairo DVD always creeps me out when I pull it from my shelf.

The "why are you sitting in my seat" girl (another Sadako-clone) in The Eye is also another trouser spoiler.

Quick question and an odd random thought for any of the ladies here on the boards - the lustrous Diva and Werwolf Girl I'm looking at you (not literally, that would be weird) - do ghostly boys have the same effect on you as the ghostly gals have on us here manly menfolk ?

Firstly, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

Second, I think the figure that scares me the most is Heidi from the most recent Survivor.

Ok,just kidding...

Really the figure( and by figure I mean person, ghost, monster or creepy Deep Red puppet...)that has scared me since childhood...

and I feel like a pu$$y for admitting this is The Blob.

Whoo hoo! I saw beware the blob when i was a kid and I almost ran through a wall trying to hide from the TV ( I mean it, I ran into a wall...my parents still say, "Remember when something scared you on TV and you ran into the wall."), and to this day i can't watch the original, the sequel (directed by J.R. - go figure) or the remake.

Which bothers me for two reasons, first I kind of want to see the remake and second, i don't like a movie holding that kind of power over me.

its good to be scared, but to have a childhood terror just tense up your body is insane.

Well, I've raved long enough...I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of this...

Yeah, zombies get to me too. The only things that gives me nightmares. In fact, just two nights ago I had one where my wife and I got trapped in the Mall of America by zombies. She ended up being bit and coming back and I had to make a deal with her not to eat me. Then, as I was trying to escape I was thinking "hey, this would be a great location shoot for the remake".

And it would too.

The last character to truly scare me was Bob from Twin Peaks (the show, not the movie). I've had plenty of shocks and jolts since then, but Bob was the last character to get under my skin and make me dread his presence.

Michael Berriman in Hills have eyes. I've watched it again last week and think the movie sucks, but the whole family of cannibals's pretty scary, especially Berriman.

Welcome.
I'd have to say Michael Myers from the first "Halloween" movie. That should tell you something about how long it's been since I've at a good scare at a movie. I did like Sadako/Samara, though. I thought that Jody the Pig was creepy in "Amityville Horror". I also agree that Reagan from "The Exorcist" was pretty nightmare inducing as well.

Emo Philips rom UHF.....horifying!
Seriously though have o agree with Jody The Pig from Amityville...tothisday, I can not be in a dark room and look towards the window without the feear of seeing the red eyes or the spectre in the window. Early Micheal myers and jaws did me in to (couldn't even go into an inflatable pool after jaws!)
The only other one to really fuckwith my head has been Barlow from Salems Lot. Again, childhood nightmares that just won't go away.
There has been a lot of good creepy figures out there, but nothing that makes me HAVE to break out a night light (grin)

Welcome to the board!

The scariest character I've seen in a film lately would be Sadako/Samara.

I'd say Samara too.
