DJ Hero

So I ended up ordering this up on a whim when I was able to find the turntable/game bundle for $50 and it finally came today. I've only played maybe an hour or two of it but I'm generally quite enjoying it.

There are some issues with the controls being a bit difficult and my weak hands trying to do the blue button scratches but it's been pretty fun so far. I will say that you need to make sure you have the right place to put the game because you need a decent amount of leverage for the parts where you scratching.

Besides that though, the tracks have been interesting and fun enough to play (for a person not overly familiar with the genre). There are quite a few so far that have made excited to go back and play some again. I fear this game on the harder difficulties. I already can get my hands jumbled up and get flustered.

I also seem to remember that one of the DLC packs used to be free but I guess I missed my chance because everything I see now seems to cost money. I suppose I could hook my Guitar Hero guitar up and try that out at some point.

Anyway, figured I'd ask if anyone else had given this a shot or had any pointers?

The Wii version is $40 at Toys R Us this week, so anyone that's interested in this game might want to pick it up now.

It's definitely fun, but you're spot-on on how you need proper leverage in order to play properly. If you have a bar or something of similar height near your TV, it's probably best standing in front of that to play. And yeah, there was a free Lady Gaga song to promote DJ Hero 2 a month ago and the Eminem pack isn't worth the points.

Again, definitely a fun game, but I'm not sure if I'd pay 60 bucks for a DJ Hero 2.

I like the minimalist approach to the game. There isn't exactly a career mode that would reward you for your progress, but on the flipside when you fail you don't feel like a god damned loser as you are learning the ropes.

The only tips I have from playing...use your rewind if you mess up a star power sequence, surprisingly it lets you re-attempt to complete those portions of the track. Star power is also helpful when trying to make sense of the more complex track switching going on (at higher difficulties) leaving you to concentrate on just hitting the 'notes'. Though these tips kind of seem obvious and are covered in the tutorial. It's all about practicing your way up the difficulty ladder.

If you go in for DLC, nab the Mary J Blige/Queen mashup, it's awesome.

I still don't own this game but have spent the last couple of weeks blaring the mixes on youtube. I think the Tears for Fears Shout/DJ Shadow Six Days remix has got to be my favorite.

Also Scott- it's only $40 for the Wii version. Damn you for making me excited!

Sorry, Alex. CheapAssGamer said it was a multiplatform deal, as it was when it was $50 when I picked it up there in April. I didn't mean to, honest!

Got the PS3 version with Turntable for brand new at Big Lots over the weekend. Damn fun especially for the price(20$)!
