Wow. What a dark, haunting, tricky game. It's apparently very short (haven't finished it yet) but absolutely worth your time and cash. The game has a ton of inventive puzzles, never tells you anything or gives you any clues, and is actually quite violent, even if it's all in black and white and wreathed in shadows.

Review asap!

Finished it yesterday morning. Took around 3-4 hours. Was going to post thoughts in the MCP Limbo thread in the main forum, but felt weird talking video games there.

Just an outstanding game. No hokey storylines to laugh at afterwards, just pure smartly contructed gameplay. It is just devious on the developers part of not having any load screens interrupt your session - you just keep going and going wondering what crazy puzzle/scenario is coming up next. Like that it ends abruptly. Not saying anymore without spoiling it for anyone.

$15 bucks easily spent...you could do a whole lot worse - Last Airbender in 3D - with your money.

I played through the trial version of Limbo last night, and I really liked it. It basically let you play up until you get past the first giant spider. You walk a bit further and get stuck on some stuff on the ground. A second spider slowly crawls out from the ceiling above you and quickly rips you from the ground. Then the game asks if you want to unlock the full version. I thought it was a nice way to end the trial. All in all, it was probably about 15 minutes of play time.

So how devious do the puzzles get later on? The early stuff is pretty simple. I love the art style and how violent it can get (I jumped out of my chair the first time I encountered the bear traps....thought it was just grass!). I didn't purchase the full version last night because I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep playing through it yet, especially if it was going to be really short. 3-4 hours doesn't sound too bad though. I'll probably end up getting this now. It's the only Summer of Arcade title that I'm really interested in anyway.

Love love love this game so far.

Short and sweet. And brutal. Like everyone else, loved the design of the thing. Beautiful ending. I think I only snagged three out of the however many achievements, so I guess there are a few more things to do. Good stuff.

Great game and is a wonderful throwback to games like Prince of Persia and Out of this World. The puzzles are very inventive, but as with games of this ilk the replay value is extremely low.

This game is resparking the old "Video Games as Art" conversations, but I feel this game underscores the fact that games are an entity of their own and not art. Games are about mechanics first and foremost, everything else is just window dressing and theme. With that said, the mechanics are rock solid and the window dressing on this game is extremely artistic. The black and white motif along with the lack of soundtrack give the game a "Lynchian" feel to the proceedings.

1200 points is kind of high for the length of the game, and I would suggest players wait until Arcade undoubtedly cuts it to 800 for promotion.

But this is a gem, especially for fans of the old Interplay games.

I like the Edward Gorey vibe. I haven't finished it, so I don't know if it's worth the money, but it's been well worth my time so far.

Yeah, right now it's only the price point that's holding me up. Maybe it'll go on sale sometime before I get through MONKEY ISLAND 2!

Yeah, that's my feeling as well. I guess after 4 years of work I'd want 15 bucks too. How big was the team on this one?

I've never played(or heard of)Heart of Darkness, but Out of This World and Flashback are fantastic. Only problem is, I remember getting quite stuck in both of those games at many points. I'm not sure I can handle that frustration nowadays.

I didn't mind the length of the game, and I liked the ending, but I didn't get any sense that I was about finish the game. They could've really used some sort of crescendo that made you feel like you were getting to that point. It was just kind of like, oh, here's the ending.
