More TRON!

Holy fucking shit.

I got serious goosebumps. Been dreaming of this since I was 12 years old.
Young Bridges is good enough to creep me out a bit. It's like they found a fucking time machine.
Hooooly crap.

Maybe it's just the fact that I'm watching it on a laptop, but the CG Bridges face seems odd. Moreso than in the teaser.

Anyway, now to watch it a few more times.
It's looking better and better.
If the 3D is on par, this could be THE 3D experience.

Shit, that was awesome.
Looks flippin' amazing, but that young Jeff Bridges is giving me a Polar Express vibe when he speaks....

God, I hope it will be THE 3D experience. That'll make people stop with this Avatar shit. We get it, the 3D was excellent. That doesn't make up for the fact that the movie was generic.

Uh, sorry for the minor derail. I just love me some Tron.
Young Bridges doesn't look convincing at all. Rest looks interesting enough. I am not a Tron mark however.
Looks great. Young Bridges is really really good, considering what it is. I think it's an accomplishment, even if it's not completely there.

The computer world isn't quite as TRON-esque as I would have liked, but I guess things inside advanced in the decades it's been. Moore's Law!

Hopefully the movie itself is good. And Black Hole reference? Heh.

If I'm remembering correctly, like Inception, time passes faster in the system, so it's been something like 1000 years.

Young Bridges looks absolutely convincing.
Bridges doesn't hold up in 1080p like he did when I watched it on the ComingSoon.net embed. Shucks. Still looks pretty damn solid, though.
Young Bridges' face looks good, but his head looks like it's not connected to his body or something.

Other than that, looks amazing. Really looking foward to the Daft Punk score.
So, is Flynn both the villian and the secondary hero? Interesting.

Looks amazing, of course. And, with True Grit coming out a week later, it looks like a Merry Bridgemas this year.

There are definitely some head tracking issues that need to be addressed and the lip sync looks a little odd. Trailer shots are almost always work in progress, though, so there's plenty of time to fix this.

Everything else is pretty damn stunning.
When he's not saying anything, Bridges looks fine. Talking, he's a nightmare.

The movie looks ridiculously awesome though. Visually it's amazing.
Christ that looks good.

Yeah... Fuck it. Tron is going to be getting more than one spin on my player between now and December.

I love that Bridges threw himself into this. I think Tron has always been something he was very proud of.
I don't think I've ever really seen Tron, but I'm really loving what I've seen of this. But Young Bridges... doesn't convince me in the slightest (even when he's not talking). But I'll live.
Yes, please.
I've said this before, but it still boggles the mind that Tron has so many ardent fans. I mean, it's Tron. Still the trailer looks moody, and pretty and visually amazing. I just didn't get any sense of excitement or danger or even fun from it.
This looks really gay.

Just kidding, but only sort of. I feel a deep shame and embarrassment about this whole endeavor. I'm sure it'll work out of context of the original (it has to), but it's really sad so many talented people are in service of it. And making the imagery of the original "dark and cool" is such a waste of time. What limited imagination we have.
I've never seen Tron, but the two spots have me pretty salivatory. Admittedly, it's not the concept, but the Kosinski visuals (I think he is the big winner when this hits) and the Daftpunk music (a new fan to theirs, as well) is extremely impressive. So I am very amped for this, purely for the reason one should be amped for a movie. It looks good and it sounds good.

Hell, maybe it actually will be good.
That was awesome, and young Bridges is pretty incredible. The effect is shattered a bit when he speaks, but I'm willing to suspend my disbelief enough to roll with it. Other than that, it's eerie how good that effect it. Plus, I love the design aesthetic of the world, and the evolution of everything since the first film feels natural. Cannot wait for this one.
I will pretty much see anything that stars Jeff Bridges or is sci fi. This has both. It can't be that bad.

He really, really doesn't. But they have 3 or 4 months to polish, so I'm keeping the faith. Trailer was absolutely stunning. And I want that soundtrack now.
Is young Flynn even supposed to look completely real? If so, then the cheeks need some work. If not, then we cool. The rest of the trailer looks pretty rad. I get the feeling that the plot might hedge too closely to the original (at least there isn't enough here to convince me otherwise), but I am looking forward to being proved wrong.
According to that site, I have 147 days and an odd number of hours to see the original film if I want to understand this movie at all.

This. He looks awkward as shit when talking.

My girlfriend, who's never even HEARD of Tron, saw the trailer for this in 3-D in front of Toy Story 3 and couldn't stop talking about it. She's psyched to see it, so hopefully that's the same feeling a lot of people felt as well.
Cool imagery? Good special effects? Hero's journey tale? Sold!

...which is exactly what I said when I saw THE LAST AIRBENDER trailer.
Airbender always looked terrible.
Well, it's M. Night versus a guy on his first feature. What are the Vegas odds?
This thing is gonna be huge. HUGE.
Visually, it looks stunning. Hopefully it delivers.

Can't say I'm sold on CG young Bridges. He looked fine in the teaser, but as others mentioned, his head looks detached from his body. His eyes also look a bit dead.

I'm not actually sure which way you're leaning with this. It was M. Night after a stretch of 2-4 atrocious pieces of shit (depending on your taste).

The thing about this new TRON is... if you're not into it or just don't see it, that by no means you're dumb, or tasteless, or anything approaching wrong. But you are boring.
I think AIRBENDER looked good in the small doses we got in the trailer. My point was that I'm cautiously optimistic about this movie. The comparison was apt because the worrying notion of the helmer (M. Night writing/directing vs Newbie directing with a million rewrites).

I really wish I could find that Tron-related Simpsons bit. It perfectly describes this movie's target audience.
Young Bridges weirdly reminds me of the original and the black and white faces. The occasional failure of the CG effect is made up for by the fact that it reminds me of the "look" of the original. Does that make any sense?

That's cause I'm complex baby.

It seems like M. Night's eye for quality has completely shifted and he intentionally made the shittiest decisions possible. This actually looks impressive.

Looking back on it, the promo stuff for LAST AIRBENDER seemed to go out of its way to avoid showing performances. Which, from what I can tell, was to hide just how atrocious the acting was. TRON LEGACY has a pretty good cast to go along with some impressive visuals.
This movie is going to be big time. If it's 70% or over at rottentomatoes.com I predict a floor of $250 million, sky is the limit if it's as good as it looks.

This director looks to be one to watch out for.
It's a pretty good trailer, but not as effective as the last one, and I think it has everything to do with the fact that I don't think DAFT PUNK scored this one.
I was wondering about that as well. It sounded a lot like this trailer took its cues off the music from the Inception trailer.
I hope the digital flynn effects aren't completely done yet. I think they look good just not great. Otherwise it looks really strong
post #41 of 99
I'm not sold on Clu either (yes, I'm such a nerd I know the character's name), but Bridges played him unnatural and robotic in the original so I guess there's room for interpretation. I just don't think he looks like Bridges.

Oooooh, lightglider. Now that's how you end a trailer.
Clu/young Bridges kind of looks like Breckin Meyer.
At Inception in IMAX the other night, they played the teaser Tron trailer on the flatscreens in the lobby, and it was all anyone could talk about. Bet more than half of them have never even seen the first one.

Young Bridges looks funky, but there's nothing they can do that will make him look 100% real, especially with the real guy in the same damn movie, so I can let it slide.
Watched this in 1080p on an enormous Apple Cinema Screen. YoungDude2.0 in the Tron world has dead, emotionless eyes. But I guess that is the point. Getting a Starman vibe from his (its?) performance.

Hopefully, all the seats in the Imax 3-D theaters will have the bong holders in place in time. That's what's concerning me.
The official site just opened up, big-time.

This has been my concern since the first look at the new lightcycle. It takes itself way too seriously, absolutely everything carefully calculated to pull the levers of the stunted geek.

Maybe it is pushing the technical envelope, but only by millimetres, and in a very predictable direction. Certainly there's no pushing of artistic boundaries.
A wasted opportunity to create a genuinely way-out and playful experience that drags current technology kicking and screaming to pastures new.
Pretty great trailer. The teaser got me crazy over it, and this one has just advanced it. I still need to revisit Tron. Haven't seen it since 2002, but I'm going to wait for the upcoming Blu-ray release.

Liking the Daft Punk clips on the website.
Black Hole shout out! Awesome.
This looks terrific. Kinda a shame it's all for Tron, ultimately, but this year has been so utterly shit I will take whatever I can get at this point.
