I picked up a petition to run for US Congress when I turned 25. Didn't turn it in because I started student teaching, and I was unable to campaign. Plus, Zach Wamp would have kicked my ass. For elections with district boundaries, voters must come from that district.

What's sadder? That this guy is on the ticket for the Tennessee Republican Primary? Or that Rick Perry won the Texas Republican Primary?

It's like this guy wandered out of Raising Arizona or O Brother Where Art Thou or something, he's a Coen Bros. grotesque made flesh.

And knowing my state, this jerkoff will get elected.

Reminds me of scrappy Presidential candidate Lee Mercer
post #56 of 86
I would vote for this man...only to see what the fuck he'll do as governor.

That poor bastard. I'd hate to have Jeb Bush all up in my house with disease.

How did I miss this guy? Fuck, I love TN and its wacky tax laws and related bullshit.

I hope he wins, because I just want to hear him keep speaking. In regards to his talking point about stop signs, I don't believe that the case he cited actually exists.

This one?

KNOWLES! I thought he was saying Noll.

I looked up Noll vs. Iowa and I didn't get much. There's subtitles for this guy, right? It seems like every popular Youtube video gets a subtitled edition.
Oh man, I'm far enough away from the political realities of this to just bask in the glorious insanity, and I couldn't be happier.

That helps out a lot. Thanks.

"We must restore America to our Judeo-Christian heritage and our Constitution."

Which specifically avoids making any reference to religion. Nice going.

Good plattaform and promises, but it needs some "DURKA DER!"

I'm having trouble believing this guy is for real. Marceaux on Jimmy Kimmel:

I can't get enough of his pro-wrestling-esque hand gestures/finger pointing.

This guy is a comedic genius on the level of Andy Kaufman. Please, someone give this guy a show.
That makes it official. It's a put-on.
Yeah, with that "CAMPAIN VIDEO", I have an extremely hard time believing this is anything but an elaborate joke. The editing is pretty comedically precise.
I absolutely love that the words, "Remove the Gold Fringed Flag" are finged in....well.....gold.

Noticed that as well, including the expertly timed cut-off at the end. It almost seems like these guys put that commercial together.

I have COMPLETELY lost the ability to tell jokes apart from reality on the internet anymore.

This really does look like a parody but lets face it, it's been proven time and time again that people really are that stupid. I wouldn't be surprised either way, but I HOPE it's a joke.

I'm having trouble believing that anyone thought this was legit to begin with.

Because people like that exist by the thousands.
He's also been running for various offices unsuccessfully for more than a decade. This is real. Gloriously real.

I don't disagree there, but it all seems so on point, you know. Like a living comedy sketch.

I can't even understand the man when he speaks. You would think, along the line to becoming a public servant/figure, that one would, at the very least, develop the polish in their public speaking skillset to convey their bs.

I guess I just can't believe that he has made it this far (i.e. anywhere) with this little.

On that note, we come to this:

If that's the case, then I stand corrected, safely, in a bomb shelter.

ETA: Watching the Kimmel clip again, I just can't wrap my head around this guy not pulling a comedic fast one. My brain (probably as a defense-mechanism) won't allow me to see the possible reality of Basil being as advertised.
See, this is exactly what I'm talking about, you just can't tell anymore. People are so stupid that the line between parody and reality is forever blurred.

Balderdash! How can Mr Marceaux.com have only garnered 1% of the vote? I hate to sound like an East Coast Elitist*, but the citizens of Tennessee clearly have a long way to go before they're going to overcome the crippling legacy of traffic stop slavery.

*Actually, I love to think of myself that way. Unlike the tea partiers, I own a dictionary and know that being an "elite" is a nifty thing to be.
3,505 votes. I wonder how many of those are joke votes, and how many are legit.
He's still not the worst fringe candidate to come out of TN.
I can get behind moving the capital to Chattanooga.
