How Many DVDs Do You Own?

I recently finished listing my entire collection to DVD Aficionado (www.dvdaf.com) and was surprised to learn I owned 448 movies on the format. I know it's a lot compared to most normal people's collections, but I was wondering what the average Chewer's collection was like. Go ahead and ballpark it if you don't use some sort of internet cataloging site.
Ballpark I reckon around 250. Maybe I'd surprise myself if I sat down to count them and end up at around 300, but I dunno. That includes TV series on dvd and is a joint collection (even tho the lion share would be mine) with my missus as well tho.
Probably something like 750, give or take 100.
I used to keep a list(offline) that was good for friends to see what they wanted me to bring over to watch, and also scratched my DVD OCD itch, it's horribly outdated though.
~2200.

Don't look at me like that.
Ballpark is around 300 or so.

ETA: Wow, neoolong.
Holy crap, I stupidly thought my 180-ish sounded high. Although half of those are TV DVDs, meaning there's a lot more than 360 hours there. I'm probably way above the average in that category, but it also makes me very popular among my cable-less friends.
Between 325 and 340, including blu-ray. I don't know the exact because some are on loan. I shaved some off before I made the move to Austin because some were just dumb buys. But holy shit Neoolong.
I swear, one of these days, I'm going to get Netflix.
I've gotten rid of some blind buys, and Netflix has been helping out.

Over 3,000 and that's conservative thinking and not including Blu-ray. It's probably way over that. I just love buying dvds. I don't however allow myself to get suckered in to every little re-release or "store exclusive" that's out there. I don't throw away that much money.

HOLY SHIT!

Oh and last count I was around 180.
357 total. 212 DVD, 86 Blu, 59 HD DVD.

And, um, holy shit, neoolong and Rene.
I recently cut my DVD library down to 2600 titles.
Blu-Ray was at 710 after cutting it down.

Then, there's the army of dead formats I keep.

VHS, Laserdisc, HD-DVD, Beta and one of those old RCA Disc Based Systems.
Around 600
I've got 815 according to DVDaf.com. I actually have more because of screeners, but I put keepers on the DVDaf.
I used to keep with stuff like DVD Profiler, DVD Af and DVD Spot (now defunct). But, it's such a bitch at times.

I admire the dedication it takes to keep updating shit like that.
45. Mostly awards screeners from the last couple of years.
Yeah, when I say library, I mean LIBRARY. I've been collecting since late 2000, and sometimes I just wait for movies to get really cheap. That's how my collection has gotten so big. Rarely do I pay top dollar for movies. Lots of them are used copies.

Glad I have an HD-DVD player. Copies of movies for it are OBSCENELY cheap on Amazon, and brand new too.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I paid retail for any movie. If it costs more than 10 bucks, and it's not a TV show, I can't justify the purchase to myself. Otherwise there'd be a lot more Criterions in my collection.

But used DVDs, oh baby. That's my bread and butter.
I do wonder how many DVDs and VHSs I've owned over my lifetime. I tend to purge ever 4 months or so. I have an unwritten rule in my mind somewhere that says i'm not allowed to get over 1000.

The only time I ever sold or gave away my DVDs is when I got duplicates due to boxed sets. It's hard to imagine getting rid of any of them.

Well, except for Spy Kids, maybe.
Shit, realized I didn't add my TV and standup shelves in with that.

DVD total goes up to 452.

And a lot of my collection went out either needing to pay bills during a desperate period a few years back, or in preparation to upgrade to Blu (there's maybe 60 more there I still haven't bought again.)
264, yes I just counted them, and yes they are all in Alphabetical order.

Mind you that is counting box sets as one dvd so it's proabaly closer to 300.

Blue Ray wise I own 10, side question does anyone else only buy the Bue Ray discs that come with a digital copy and a DVD copy as well? I think if I'm going to pay nearly £20 its worth doing that.
This many:

Actually that's just DVD movies...not including television or Blu-Rays.
I think I'm just grazing the big 1,000 mark.
Y'all make my ~450 look conservative, and for that I thank you.

Though I've stopped blindbuying and only pick up disks I know I'm gonna watch more than once. For everything else there's Lovefilm.
Only buy my favourite films on DVD. Maybe got about 150.
Looking around, I really think I need to do a recount.

And ONE huge shelf, as opposed to the tons of little ones I have scattered about.
Just so I get this straight...would the Alien Quadrilogy count as 1 title, 4 films or 9 DVDs?
I say 4 films.
Yeah, individual movies is the easiest thing to count.
I'm somewhere around 250 but I wouldn't be surprised if it came out closer to 300. I've slowed down a lot in the last couple of years between accumulating more bills and not having a Best Buy nearby. Which is a good thing because I don't blind buy as many movies and I don't go "well it's only $5, why not"?
Somewhere between 3 and 4K. 2 full floor to ceiling Hollywood Video bays (4-5' wide each). Bought em for $10 each when they closed down. And also 2 full walls of eye level shelves. My guest bedroom doubles as a DVD library.
614, including TV box sets.
I could probably sell off more than half and I'd be happy. I went through a crazy DVD-buying phase a few years ago, a little before Netflix was big.

But holy shit, some of you folks have insane collections. What is the seen/not seen ratio of your collections?
For me, I've 256 DVDs left to watch.
95/5 in terms of that ratio.
I just finished up watching my recently purchased ones the other day, but my re-watch pile is still pretty big.

It's going to be like that for a while, because I'm watching movies on Netflix Instant that are expiring soon.
We've got somewhere around 400 DVDs and 20 blu-rays. There are maybe 20 DVDs that I haven't seen yet for various reasons but I've seen all of my blu-rays.

I really cut down on my DVD expenditures about 4 years ago. It was mostly a space decision (we're trying to cut down on clutter and excess STUFF around the house), but it was also a financial decision...we looked at what we were dropping at Best Buy and decided to channel those funds into our vacation account.
If it's on my shelf I've watched it.
Which genres do you go heavy on? My horror collection is overwhelming, but I guess it's because everything's sequelized beyond the point of self-parody, and I'm a completist.
A lifetime of video-store and movie-theatre employment has conditioned me to be relatively conservative in my purchases.

305 DVD, 52 LaserDisc. VHS unknown at this time.
Action, horror, and comedy are the heaviest in my library. Horror was initially small, but it's gotten really large since 2005.

Wish I could have come across some shelves like Darkmite. I could really use something like that. I have two shelves, but they're full, and now I'm just using storage bins, but that's good for when I move, they'll already be packed.
Somewhere between 300 and 400. The top shelf is Ewan-only, and there's something like 45 of those, everything you can get on DVD anyway.
At once point i owned like more then 300 dvd's, but right now i don't even have 50 i usually sell them when i no longer watch the movie and buy new ones.

same thing happend with Blu-ray i used to collect Blu-ray too at one point i had more then 60 Blu-rays but right now i have less then 10 same reason.
Wow. I used to think that people who came to my house and said, "wow, you have a lot of DVDs" knew what they were talking about. I probably hover around 350 or so if you count kids videos as well. A pittance, really, compared to some of you guys.
Between 150 and 200 and a good portion are TV Box sets. I went through a huge purge when I moved into a studio apartment and pretty much stopped buying DVDs in the mid-aughts. The movies I have I don't watch that often because of Netflix and cable. I do use my collection to introduce my friends to shows/movies they have no business not having seen.
13 blu-rays, and more DVDs than I care to count. I ran out of shelf space, and now I keep some of them in printer paper boxes. Most of them came from Hastings buy_get_ deals. 75% of them could be donated to the library and I would never miss them.

Here's another question: How many days (maybe even weeks) worth of special features do you own but have never watched? Back when I had ~100, I made a point to watch every special feature and listen to every commentary every time I got a new movie. Now, I can't remember the last time I watched non-Apatow special features (I fucking love his deleted scenes/line-o-ramas/outtakes).

The perfect box for moving DVDs. I always keep some handy. Comes with a lid, just the right size for maximum use of space and weight, stackable, etc.
There's movies that I got years ago that I'm just seeing them with their audio commentary. Very rarely do I listen to the audio commentary right after, unless it's a movie I've really been wanting to know more about.

I actually had a separate smaller pile of movies that I had just for movies that I wanted to listen to the audio commentary. I know for sure though that I haven't seen every single special feature on all of my dvds.

When I get a Netflix disc, however, I tend to skim through audio commentaries or watch an interview, since I'll probably never pick up the dvd.
I tend to only dive into special features now if I'm doing something else, like putting together furniture and want to have something on in the background. I burned out on commentary tracks in the early-'00s after the eleventeenth one where the director told me what I was looking at.
