Converting DVDs to iPhone/iTouch

Any suggestions of good software to do this? A friend recommended DVDFab, but it's like $100 for the initial software + the iPhone converter. I was hoping for something more around the $30-$50 range.

Videora used to be perfect for this. Not sure if it still is.

This one is "free", but you've got to do a bit of facebook work. Found it at cnet, where there are a lot of other options.

Folks keep saying Handbrake is good (and free).

I tried using Handbreak about a year ago based on a friend's recommendation. Never could get the dumb thing to work for whatever reason. I ended up getting the Avex DVD-to-iPod converter and that has worked pretty slick for me. Free trial and the purchase price is $30.

I use 1Click DVD Converter. They have options ranging from $39 to $79. The Converter that I use cost me $49 up front and $29 to update the license each year. I've never had any problems with it. You need a DVD Decrypter with it. I use DVD43, which is compatible with 1Click, and is free.

I just found that, downloaded it, and ripped a DVD to test it, and it worked awesomely. And free is nice.

Oh, completely off the subject--Rob, it looks like they're not putting me at the Holcomb Br. office, but in the one on Northmeadow, which I think is off Hembree. I'll be going up to Wisc. the week of the 23rd to meet my other teammates.

Thats what I use. Still, digital copies on my blu-rays are my preferred route.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be sly or sneaky or anything, I just think I shouldn't have to re-purchase digital copies of movies I already own.

Yeah, I have been meaning to rip my DVD collection to my network storage so I can play it without having to find the DVD and put it in the player and copy them onto my PSP, iPod or whatever when traveling.

Maybe I'll finally get around to that.

Handbrake is sort of the standard program for that. But if you're willing to pay and you have an Nvidia card, hardware accelerated programs like Badaboom are stupidly fast. I think I converted a whole season of Supernatural into video for my phone in about an hour.

HandBrake all the way for stuff like this, the only downside being that it might throw you for a loop by not easily providing the settings you will need which can put you in trial-and-error hell. Googling what you're trying to do on it can point you in the right direction, though.

If some of these other products are working out well for you, then Mazel Tov, they all do about the same thing it really becomes a matter of user interface.

Watched Shaun of the Dead on my way into work this morning while riding the train. Awesome.

Just don't be a jackass and watch porn using the speakerphone.
