New Romero

I know nothing about this movie aside from what was in the story today (<a href="http://www.creature-corner.com/news3/may02theill.php3" target="_blank">here</a>), but I'm sure glad to know it's finally happening. New Romero is always good, not matter what some may say about 'Bruiser'...

Amen to that Butane. This is clear out of left field for me. I havn't heard a thing about this till now. Coming on the heel's of yesterday's Russo news, this makes things a little brighter.

When Romero's site was still open, the plot given sounded pretty good. Vampirism was spread like a plague with vampires kinda being infected and needing to drink blood.

Maybe this will be Romero's take on infectious diseases or something.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it.

New Romero news, new Gordon news... this is what I call a good Friday. Thanks to the Corner crew yet again for bringing the stuff. Certainly helps me get over the one-two gutpunch of having caught some weird stomache flu and having finally seen Bride of Re-Animator.

Romero already tackled the subject in The Crazies.

Yeah, I saw The Crazies way back in the 80's and I'm excited to see it again. I just ordered it from the Evil Shop after I read Ryan's review. A new Romero movie is also good news.

I just watched MARTIN again for the first time in many years, and it hasn't lost its brilliance. In fact, it's still a smarter spin on vamparism than any film since.

So far, the plot for THE ILL doesn't sound too revolutionary, but, as always, I'm more than willing to give Romero the benefit of the doubt, even if it's been lean times as of late.

Oh My God! I can't wait! HOLY SHIT, I need a new pair of pants!

and every director has to have at least one bad film so, I can be more forgiving to BRUISER in that concept.

Hello everyone....

... I'm new to these boards.... so be kind.

Actually, I've been charting the progress of "The Ill" for some time. There's a good breakdown of the plot at <a href="http://www.p-kinofilms.com." target="_blank">www.p-kinofilms.com.</a> It actually sounds pretty damn good... a bit more thoughtful than most vampire flicks and hopefully it will mark a return to form for Romero -- like his better work like Martin/The Crazies and less like Two Evil Eyes or Brusier.

Nice find, my man, thanks for the scoopage. We're working on getting some official words from the man himself soon, so it'll be nice to have a plot to work around.

I thought I'd bump this up a bit in case anyone has any more insights, seeing as there's a new blurb on the main page about The Ill.

I'm looking forward to this. What I hope comes out of this, is that Romero finds a smoother experience filming outside of America. It would be great if this leads to a much more regular output from him.

If all goes well, maybe we'll have Dead Reckoning filmed in the UK.

Also, I'm suprised that nobody said anything about this movie being like a Living Dead movie - with plague victims rising from the dead

(yes, I know to drink blood, not eat flesh...I'm just suprised that the few Romero naysayers on the boards haven't started slamming the concept as being "too Night of the Living Dead-ish.")

I personally can't wait for this!

...and I liked Bruiser...a lot.

That would be great. Maybe you savvy Brits could score an exclusive for the Corner.

'So, Mr Romero, how's about producing a little flick I've written called ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE?'

"George A. Romero's THE ILL"

Seeing that, along with the great image, just put a big smile on my face.

Happy fucking day....

I'm rather excited about this one. I wonder if filming in the UK also means he'll be using a mostly British cast.

And IIRC the UK zombie spoof/comedy "Shaun of the Dead" is also filming about the same time. Perhaps he can pop in and offer some tips...
